Lunch set at noon! This is probably the most cost-effective option. It starts with a solid anago sushi, followed by sushi and tempura chawanmushi. The dishes came out a bit quickly, so if you want to eat slowly, it's a good idea to let them know. The restaurant is clean and welcoming, even for solo diners.

I was born and raised in an area without the custom of eating Ehomaki, so initially I didn't quite get it. But as with Valentine's Day and Halloween, if it can make money, it becomes a custom nationwide. There may be various issues, but anyway, our family also purchased Ehomaki from Okinisan near the municipal hospital, which we are close to. I didn't investigate whether it was homemade or the quality of the rice, but overall, I think it has a taste that you can trust. The eel, kampyo, egg, and vinegar rice are all well-balanced, making it a great Ehomaki for Setsubun. For those thinking about going to a sushi restaurant this year, I recommend it. Even my 2-year-old son enjoyed eating it luxuriously, taking big bites from the side...

I received a message saying that my friends were drinking at a sushi restaurant, so I managed to find the place even though I had never been there before. I was surprised to find a sushi restaurant in such an unexpected location. My friend's acquaintance and the owner of this place seem to be friends, so I visited. I arrived a little late, and everyone was already quite drunk, so they had only eaten a little bit, but the casual atmosphere of this popular sushi restaurant was nice. The owner has many apprentices, which is impressive. The owner is friendly and easy to talk to, and they serve interesting sushi like California rolls and Mexican sushi. They also have vegetable sushi, which I love. I was happy to see my favorite burdock root rolls there. The green tea pudding-like dessert that came out at the end was delicious. The barrel-aged sake was also tasty.

I visited the sushi restaurant that I used to go to with my father when I was little, and as an adult, I visited again. The owner is really kind and thoughtful, and it's fun to talk to him. I made a reservation over the phone, and he treated me as if he remembered me, which made me very happy. He also made us feel comfortable and at ease. The sushi was all fresh and delicious. Especially outstanding were the sea urchin and simmered conger eel sushi. It was truly a blissful time. The cost performance was also good, and I felt like the bill was too cheap. I highly recommend this restaurant.

After taking a stroll through the streets of Kashihara, we took a city bus from Route 9 to visit Sushi Ookini, a sushi restaurant near the municipal hospital. This restaurant was where we had lunch after our son and daughter-in-law's new house celebration, and the head chef's anecdotes were entertaining. The sea grapes served as an appetizer paired perfectly with a cold beer. We enjoyed a sake from Aizu called "Ookini" in a masu cup. It was fun to drink the spilled sake as well. Finally, we finished our meal with fish roe on seaweed. Thank you for the delicious meal.

This is my first visit. It was lunchtime but the first floor was full. I ordered a lunch set and then ordered individual pieces of sushi. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxing. The homemade perilla juice was really tasty. I will definitely visit again.

I decided to go suddenly, but it was a good idea to make a reservation by phone just in case! It was so crowded that I wouldn't have been able to get in without calling. My favorite is the black bean natto roll. ( *´艸`)

I visited this place for the first time, even though I used to go there every day. The friendly owner serves sushi with a clean finish. The taste is not too strong, making it easy for women to eat. It may seem a bit pricey considering the portion size, but it is a clean and pleasant place.

You can enjoy elegant dishes here. They have some unique items, like banana tempura which is interesting. It's a place I would like to visit again for authentic sushi and delicious tempura.

I visited Ookini-san's restaurant for lunch after a long time. My wife and mother-in-law are particularly close with the chef here. Oh, and my son is having his first experience with counter sushi (laughs). The location is just north of Shijo Gozen, right next to the municipal hospital. It's not like a formal high-end restaurant, but you can feel the charm of Kyoto's restaurants. The lunch set includes tempura, chawanmushi, and the chef's recommended sushi of the day for around 2430 yen. While it may be different for those who love traditional Edo-style sushi, you get to try the chef's recommendations for the day. On this day, we had dishes like sandfish, bonito, mackerel, octopus, horse mackerel, sea grapes, sea squirt, and Minaminasu. I was surprised by the sea squirt, and the chef's desire for customers to encounter various ingredients is evident. The tempura also includes not just common ingredients but also playful choices of seasonal mountain vegetables and greens. The chef is committed to food education, providing safe and good ingredients, so there was a sense of reassurance in letting my son sit at the counter. I'll repeat, it's a restaurant that embodies the essence of Kyoto in a good way. It has depth and warmth in its service. If there's a genre called Kyoto sushi, this sushi reflects the chef's genuine intentions, not being exclusive. It has a charm that is completely different from ultra-expensive restaurants. It's a typical restaurant loved by the people of Kyoto.

We are captivated by the charming talk of the master chef at Ookanei, who always impresses us with his skills. On this day, we received a selection of dishes, including pickled sushi rolls and classic nigiri sushi with thickly sliced toppings. Although we are unsure of the exact price, it is likely to be over 2000 yen. Ookanei offers a unique Kyoto-style sushi experience, focusing on local ingredients at a reasonable price.

Originally, they were cultural practices from regional or foreign origins, but now, due to commercial strategies, they have become well-established nationwide cultures. Representing this are Ehomaki (lucky direction sushi rolls) and Halloween. When it comes to Setsubun, I remember throwing beans, but I don't recall ever eating rolled sushi, or dressing up and going out in the streets to ask Santa for things. (In that sense, Halloween seems to be a bit off track, doesn't it? lol) Since it's a culture from Kansai, living in Kansai means following the local customs. Following last year, I asked Ooikeni-san again this year. The softness and perfect rolling technique make me think it's different from convenience store versions. I'll ask for it again next year. It might seem unfair that only eel restaurants profit on the midsummer day of the ox, so if there's a day that brings benefits to sushi restaurants, even if it's driven by commercial strategies, I think it's still a good thing, don't you think?

I visited Sushi Ookini based on other reviews. I was able to park in one of the two parking spaces, and when I entered the restaurant, it was packed. Even on a weekday, with such a lively atmosphere, I had high hopes for the taste. The counter area had raised seating, which was full, so I was seated at a table near the entrance. It was a bit chilly, but there was an electric heater, so it was okay. I opted for the lunch special at 2,200 yen. The tempura included vegetables like taro, broccoli, carrot, and apple, with a light and refreshing batter. The dashi in the chawanmushi was good, and the small cups were filled nicely. The sushi was all fresh, with thickly sliced yellowtail and mackerel, fresh raw baby sardines and horse mackerel without any fishy smell, and the eel was tender. I was satisfied with all 10 pieces. The restaurant's specialty nori rolls were also delicious, so I ordered some to take home for Setsubun after visiting Mibu-san. Thank you for the meal. I would like to visit again at night next time.
