The soba was very delicious, but the oyakodon was not tasty. It was a decent experience. The customers seemed to be mostly locals. The atmosphere was okay. After eating, we went to a nearby cafe. The cake at the cafe was very delicious.

I had the seasonal "Ryogetsu" tempura soba set at Soba Cuisine Yoshimura Kitayamarou. It was satisfying to be able to enjoy both the hand-cut soba made with domestic buckwheat and the tempura served hot. The meal also included delicious nishin shigure gohan (herring and rice) and soba koji pickles. I was able to enjoy a bit of the chef's cooking as well and left feeling full and content.

I visited the restaurant around 11:50 on Saturday afternoon and was able to enter without waiting. I ordered duck soba as well as a set of pudding and coffee. I didn't really smell the soba, but the duck dipping sauce was very delicious. Surprisingly, the pudding after the meal left a strong impression. The crispy topping of soba on top was a nice accent and tasty. Thank you for the meal.

During this hot season, I always crave cold soba noodles. Soba and udon noodle shops are always packed with customers around lunchtime. I had to wait a bit, but the restaurant had a spacious second floor so I was seated quickly. There is also a counter where solo diners can sit. I had a variety of soba dishes - 100% soba noodles, country-style soba noodles, and grated yam soba noodles. The aroma of the soba noodles was subtle but present, and the firm texture made my jaw tired halfway through. I wouldn't recommend the soba assortment for elderly customers. The quality of the soba at Yoshimura was decent, but the dipping sauce was not very tasty. I particularly enjoyed the country-style soba noodles at Yoshimura, it was the most delicious out of the three varieties. There is also a Yoshimura branch in Gojo, but I prefer the one in Gion. Both locations have a great atmosphere and excellent service, with private rooms available for various occasions. You can watch the male staff making soba noodles near the entrance on the first floor, which I found enjoyable as I also make my own soba noodles. The automatic stone mill is always running, adding to the lively atmosphere. Yoshimura is a beloved restaurant in Kyoto.

The fine-cut 100% buckwheat soba, which is rare for those who have spent time in Kanto or Hokuriku, has a different texture and way of mixing with the broth compared to thicker noodles. The crispy texture of the tempura, the chewiness of the soba, the fragrant aroma of the 100% buckwheat soba, and the colorful flavors make the midday lively in Kyoto's food culture. The Japanese-modern interior also reminded me of Kyoto, which has absorbed and adapted things from outside over its long history. I would like to visit again, but it seems to be a popular restaurant, so I don't know when I can go back... But I really want to come back!

Tuesday 18:20 Yoshimura Kitayamadokoro is quite crowded. It's popular during cherry blossom season. Dinner set - Nishin Soba (regular) 1,400 yen + 660 yen - Ebi Tempura Donburi comes with rice bowl, salad, and pickles. I don't usually eat Nishin Soba, but I thought I'd try it at a proper soba restaurant. It's a satisfying set, which is a nice service. The cherry blossoms were almost over, but it was nice. I will visit again, thank you for the meal.

I enjoyed drinking alone at this popular soba izakaya-like restaurant. The menu offers a variety of small dishes, and the fried edamame and duck skewers were excellent. I appreciated the convenience of options like a 5-shaku pour for sake and a half portion of soba. For my final dish, I ordered a half portion of regular cut soba noodles, which were delicious with a hint of sweetness. Although the soba was tasty, I felt that this may not be the best place to visit specifically for soba. The soba broth was delicious. Overall, the restaurant has a high level of quality!

The soba noodles were incredibly delicious. I chose the "Juwari" soba noodles made from 100% buckwheat from the countryside. I selected the medium thickness for the noodles. They were freshly made with a firm texture and rich flavor. The restaurant also offered options for takeout, such as duck and vegetable tempura soba, and herring soba.

Lunch was luxurious, so for dinner, I was taken to a quick soba restaurant. My friend, who is finally returning to Nagoya, invited me to a nearby delicious soba restaurant for a sleepover. We ordered the duck nanban and duck soba, and even though it was 100% buckwheat soba, it went down very smoothly. The menu was also extensive, and I would love to visit this restaurant again if it were nearby.

On Sunday at noon, I parked for about 20 minutes and waited for a table for about 15 minutes inside the restaurant. I ordered the Kita-yama Zen for 1420 yen. The salad had grated yam in the dressing, making it thick and flavorful. The Gomoku beans were cooked well and tasted good, but personally I'm not a fan of soybeans or cooked dishes. The soba noodles were top-notch, with amazing texture and flavor (a level of quality that is hard to come by). The shrimp tempura rice bowl was incredibly delicious, with tempura better than most tempura restaurants. I would definitely order the shrimp tempura on its own next time. The rice bowl was also very good. The restaurant has a parking lot, which is convenient, but there might be a bit of a wait in line. However, the delicious food makes it worth the wait. I will definitely come back, maybe next time for just the soba noodles or the rice bowl.

On New Year's Eve, the restaurant was open until 10 pm without reservations, so we were able to enjoy a meal there. We tried the Nishin Soba, which we first encountered in Kyoto. The warm soba was delicious. We spent a quiet time savoring it as 2022 came to an end.

"Yoshimura", which has five stores in Kyoto including Arashiyama. Inside the store, a small waterfall flows, creating a charming atmosphere. The high ceiling and spacious tables allow customers to enjoy their meal in a relaxed manner. This time, I tried the "Soba Koji Pickled Duck Soup Soba". Although the flavor of the soba is not very strong, the texture is good. The duck soup tasted slightly light, which may be due to the Kansai region's preference. They directly source whole buckwheat from producers nationwide and store it at low temperatures throughout the year. The buckwheat is ground with a stone mill, and skilled craftsmen hand-make the soba noodles."

Arrived at 10:30 on Sunday. It was still too early for opening, so I wandered around the area and came back around 11:10, already a line... It's a popular place! However, it only took about 5 minutes to be seated on the second floor. The staircase had a really nice atmosphere and was lovely (*˘︶˘*).。*♡ I ordered the holiday limited lunch for 1400 yen. It included: ○ Zaru Soba (can be changed to warm soba) ○ Salad ○ One dish (on this day it was simmered soybeans and hijiki seaweed) ○ Rice dish (choice available) ○ Pickles For this price, to get all this in Kitayama on a holiday, this place has great value! I chose the tempura bowl for the rice dish, which had shrimp tempura, pumpkin, and shiso leaves, just the right amount of volume. The salad had silky tofu hidden under the vegetables, which was chewy and delicious. The soba was of course perfect. There are about 8 parking spaces in front of the restaurant, so coming by car is no problem. There are also many parking lots in the area where you can park all day for 600-700 yen, so I recommend parking there and strolling around Kitayama for a day of eating and exploring.

I went to Yoshimura in Gojo the day before to try their "hamo tempura with sudachi soba," but they only serve it during dinner time, so I decided to go to Kitayama instead. The atmosphere here is spacious and quiet, which is nice. I ordered the "hamo tempura with sudachi soba" for 1600 yen (including 10% tax) and the "Kamo eggplant and corn tempura" for 780 yen (including 10% tax). First, the tempura... The large slices of Kamo eggplant were delicious, and the corn was very sweet. The "hamo tempura with sudachi soba" had freshly fried hamo in the middle with sliced sudachi around it. The cold and refreshing broth paired well with the thin soba noodles. Delicious!

【2022.3.5】Saturday I went to Kyoto Concert Hall to listen to Mayuko Ishigami's recital. Interestingly, there was a graduation ceremony for Kyoto Prefectural Medical University in the main hall. Mayuko Ishigami is actually an alumna of the medical university (graduated in 2017). She has won numerous awards in music competitions and also holds a teaching license in calligraphy. Whether she becomes a doctor or a violinist, it's up to her. Both paths are challenging. I had soba for lunch and it was delicious. Ordered Tempura Zaru Soba 1,650 yen Soba Set Meal 1,380 yen Half portion of Juwari Soba, half portion of Inaka Soba, half portion of Tororo Soba Tempura Zaru Soba 1,650 yen Extra noodles 440 yen. It was just before noon on a weekday, yet the restaurant was almost full. Although there was a traditional Japanese terrace seating on the first floor, I was guided to the second floor. The staircase had a charming atmosphere as well. Feeling hungry, I ordered the Kitayama Lunch, which included zaru soba and oyakodon. The zaru soba was a rare firm type in Kyoto, with a chewy and deep flavor. I definitely want to try a soba feast next time. Thank you for the meal.

We reserved a private room on the first floor at the reassuring meeting place Sakura, where the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and the atmosphere is pleasant. We were promptly shown to our private room and ordered the lunch set, which has seen a higher satisfaction rate compared to when the restaurant first opened. We were able to choose between soba and rice dishes, each coming with a drink after the meal. The soba had a mild aroma but was deliciously chewy. The set also included a mini tendon, soba noodles, salad, simmered beans, pickles, soba broth, and coffee. We were able to relax and enjoy our meal. Thank you for the feast.

"Yoshimura Kitayamaro" is a beautiful two-story building near Kitayama Station. This was my third visit. Kitayama Zen meal for 1520 yen includes soba salad, zaru soba (warm soba also available), small side dish, mini bowl: shrimp tempura bowl (tororo bowl, oyakodon also available), Kyoto pickles, drink: iced lemon tea (blend, cafe latte also available), beer for 580 yen. The moment you take a bite of the soba, you can immediately taste how delicious it is. The texture of the soba is pleasing. The pickles and salad are also delicious, and the taste for this price is wonderful. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the service were as impressive as always.

It's nice that they are open from New Year's Day. This is a branch of "Soba no Mi Yoshimura" which has multiple stores in Kyoto. It's convenient being just a short walk from the station. They had a special New Year's menu. I ordered the herring soba as a single item (1350 yen). The entrance atmosphere, interior, and service were all top-notch, as expected from a popular restaurant. Despite the slightly higher price range, everything was well worth it. The herring soba had a large simmered herring placed on top. The broth was delicious. It's more on the sharp side. I usually prefer sweeter flavors, but this sharp taste was also enjoyable. There are quite a few soba restaurants in the Kitayama area, but this relatively large chain is easy to visit. Thank you for the meal.

I'm trying to decide where to have soba tomorrow, as everywhere seems to be fully booked. Please make your reservations early if you're looking for New Year's Eve soba. I saw that Yoshimura-san has their New Year's Eve menu out. I like the tangy broth at Yoshimura's. Thank you for helping me stay healthy this year. Have a great New Year.
