~I had never tried it before, but it was incredibly delicious!!!~ Karasuma: Kyoto Motsu Nabe Shuuto
On this day, with no dinner plans, we hadn't decided where to go at all (^^;)
I did some casual research on the internet and was intrigued by the phrase "Kyoto motsu nabe," so I made a reservation online.
To my surprise when we arrived, the restaurant was almost full. "Kyoto Motsu Nabe Shuuto"
We had made a reservation in advance, so we had a private room.
We started with a "Lemon Sour: 550 yen" for a toast. Lately, I've been hooked on this refreshing "Lemon Sour."
We also ordered a "Second Sour: 330 yen" because the price was enticing (laughs).
Here is the menu. There are set courses, but we decided to order a la carte.
There are three types of motsu nabe with different flavors. Personally, I wanted to order the "red" one, but you have to order a minimum of two servings!
Since the food connoisseur is not a fan of spicy food, we opted for the classic "white" one.
"Original Motsu Nabe 'White': 1,390 yen (per person)" *The photo shows two servings.
We waited for it to boil while enjoying the Lemon Sour.
While waiting, we ordered some side dishes. First, we couldn't miss the "Chancha: 450 yen." I could drink as much alcohol as I wanted with just this.
"Omi beef heart sashimi: 680 yen" We enjoyed it with garlic soy sauce.
"Kyoto Mizuna and Kyoto deep-fried salad (half): 500 yen" The food connoisseur ate 80% of this (;・∀・)
As we snacked on the side dishes, the nabe started to look good (^^♪
The staff took care of the nabe at the right timing.
Yes, it's ready to eat. The bean sprouts are cooked just right and crunchy.
When I first tasted the soup, it felt a bit lacking in punch...or rather, gentle...or something...
Until now, in my mind, Hakata motsu nabe was the main one, with a strong flavor. Compared to the strong Hakata motsu nabe, this Kyoto motsu nabe had a somewhat subtle and gentle soup.
But as I kept eating, this initially subtle soup started to gain more and more presence!!!
In the end, it was very delicious. I like Hakata motsu nabe, but this Kyoto motsu nabe is also delicious!!!
For the finale, we had the "Shuto Shogun's Noodles: 980 yen." It's not just noodles at this price; it also includes Omi beef motsu, abura-kasu, and tamago-toji.
The final "ramen" was also incredibly delicious.
It was a day with no plans, and the dinner meeting didn't happen, but it's a good thing it didn't. I discovered a new gourmet experience.
"Kyoto motsu nabe" is delicious!!! The food connoisseur also loved this place so much that we decided we must come back here again.
