I was recommended to visit this nail salon by the staff there, whom I always rely on. It was my first time visiting, and I was a bit worried about getting a spot since it was a gloomy day, but the place was packed. Even on a Saturday in a business district, it was really popular. I'll definitely make a reservation next time. I was seated at a table with a sunken floor. The complimentary starter was a seaweed soup, which had a delicious broth that made me look forward to the rest of the meal. The a la carte menu mainly featured fish and vegetable dishes. The warm mushroom and pork salad was the first dish we tried, and the sesame flavor was delightful. The dishes like the yam dumplings and steamed fish with tofu were so flavorful with the broth. The classic chicken karaage was also very refined in taste. We had a lot of fried dishes, but the fried conger eel was a pleasant surprise and very tasty. The most recommended dish was the meatball! The meatballs were full of ingredients and incredibly delicious. They were a hit with both the drinkers and non-drinkers in our group. I was curious about the mixed rice, but unfortunately, it was sold out that day as we arrived late. It's understandable. I'll have to try it next time. I'm thrilled that such authentic Japanese cuisine, reminiscent of a high-class traditional restaurant, is available at such an accessible price and location. The sake went down smoothly. We ate and drank quite a bit, so the bill for four people exceeded 20,000 yen. If you're just eating and drinking normally, it seems like you could get away with around 4,000 yen per person. However, it seems like the chef is the only one preparing the dishes here (apparently, they trained at a famous place!), so it takes a bit of time for the dishes to come out. The taste is definitely worth the wait, so it's a good place to leisurely enjoy your meal and drinks. I would love to visit again.

If you walk a little west from the building shown on the map, you will find a shop. It was very crowded even on a weekday. The food and drinks were delicious! I think I understand why it's so popular. The seafood bowl is a must-try! I will definitely go back!

I made a reservation on the same day and was able to get a private room until 6:30 pm, so I visited the restaurant. The menu was extensive with Kyoto cuisine options, and the fun of choosing was satisfying. Personally, I recommend the butter-scented grilled edamame and the slightly light mixed rice.

A few minutes' walk from the nearby hotel. I was led here and decided to try it without a reservation. The private and semi-private rooms were almost full, so I was seated at the counter. I wanted to try various obanzai dishes, and they were all delicious with high quality. My stomach was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal!

I ordered a small portion of sashimi, Manjyuu eggplant, and potato salad. The dishes were delicious. The sashimi was very fresh. The restaurant had table seats with sunken kotatsu tables, as well as a counter and more seats in the back. It was almost full and lively. Maybe because it's underground, but my phone had almost no signal.

Our sake group went to a restaurant chosen by a sake enthusiast friend. We started with a clear and delicious clear soup with fish cakes. The first sake we tried was from Machida Sake Brewery in Gunma, which was sweet and tasty. We had tamagoyaki, chicken tenderloin, and sweet peppers as appetizers. Next, we tried Vibrant sake from Shiraki Hisashige Sake Brewery in Tango, which had a slightly sour and complex taste. Honey Trap was sweet and to my liking. The Gin Shari, made with Koshihikari rice, was crispy and went well with the edamame beans. We also enjoyed a flavorful potato salad and a vibrant rapeseed ohitashi. We finished by trying all the sake we wanted from Hohoemi Daiginjo Brewery.

The seafood dishes were delicious. I ordered something called matcha beer, which looked like melon soda but tasted like sweet beer? It's probably better to stick with regular beer. I got tipsy from a half bottle of sparkling wine! It's great that smoking is allowed for smokers. For dessert, I had fried wheat gluten with matcha ice cream.

Last year, I couldn't go to the restaurant due to a GOTO cancellation, so I made a reservation and visited it two years later. It was close to the inn and seemed good, but my wife felt uneasy when she saw the smoking area sign at the entrance. The entrance seemed like a back door, and once inside, it was smoky... like smoked food was being prepared. No staff came out, so we had to go in until the last moment when we could still wear our shoes and call out. And the drinks took a while to arrive. We waited for drinks, then for food, then for drinks again, and so on. Then, my child saw something in the sunken hearth and said, "Something's fallen." When I shone my iPhone light on it, it was a black mask. Oh, but the food was delicious.

For lunch today, I visited this restaurant where I couldn't get in for dinner before because it was fully booked. I had to go down a dark staircase leading to the basement, but I had been here for lunch last spring, so no problem. I was given the choice of a raised seating area or a counter seat, but since I was dining alone, I chose the counter seat. This rare restaurant allows smoking during lunchtime in these times. The lunch menu included 9 regular set meals (750-1,300 yen) and a daily special (500 yen). I was also intrigued by the daily special for just one coin, but I ordered the "pork ginger stir-fry set meal (750 yen)." The stir-fried pork, with plenty of sweet onions and a salad on the side, definitely made the rice go down smoothly. It came with two side dishes with a flavorful broth, two pickles, and miso soup. Last time, I couldn't finish almost half of the meal due to the large portion, but this time I finished everything. It was a well-balanced, delicious set meal. Thank you for the meal.

A trip to admire the autumn leaves in Kyoto with my wife. For dinner on the first day, we visited "Mitoki" just one subway stop away from our hotel. I actually had another restaurant in mind that I really wanted to go to, but I was looking for a way to use up soon-to-expire shareholder coupons for a stock I own, and that's how I found this place. I debated whether to skip the restaurant I originally wanted to go to, but ultimately decided it would be a waste not to use the coupons. I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised! The first appetizer served was a small bowl of dashi with yuba, which warmed my heart and stomach. The dashi seemed to be their specialty, as many dishes featured it, and although it was slightly saltier than traditional dashi, it was just right for enjoying with sake. I'm not sure if I'll revisit this restaurant, as there was another place nearby I initially wanted to try, but I did appreciate the depth of Kyoto's culinary scene. I would recommend it to those who are interested.

Good evening. I am a beauty acupuncture therapist, Kozue. The other day, I visited a sake and obanzai (Kyoto-style side dishes) restaurant called Kyoto Sakaba Mitoki in Kyoto. This place is open relatively late, which is very convenient for me as I always have dinner late. Sake is priced at 480 yen per glass, 780 yen per 180ml, and special sake is 680 yen per glass, 980 yen per 180ml. The variety of dishes is quite extensive. To start, I ordered sake, Miyagi oysters (raw and grilled), and a 6-dish obanzai platter. The 6 obanzai dishes included: stir-fried cabbage, simmered eggplant, simmered taro, fried tofu simmered, dried daikon radish, and winter melon with yuzu miso. The stir-fried cabbage had a refreshing taste with a hint of sesame oil. The simmered eggplant was sweet and tender. The simmered taro had a firm texture and a sweet flavor. The fried tofu simmered had two types of fried tofu. The dried daikon radish had a spicy kick from shichimi pepper. The winter melon with yuzu miso had a perfect balance of refreshing winter melon and sweet miso with a spicy kick. I also ordered lotus root hash browns, pork belly and cheese mille-feuille cutlet, and grilled bell pepper and shiso seasoned rice. The lotus root hash browns were crispy on the outside and had a nice texture from the lotus root. The pork belly and cheese mille-feuille cutlet was juicy and flavorful. The grilled bell pepper and shiso seasoned rice was a generous portion with a delicious blend of flavors. I enjoyed a soda mix with Hannyari Kyoto plum wine and Niigata junmai daiginjo sake. The plum wine was refreshing with a hint of sweetness, and the sake was slightly sweet and refreshing with a good impact. Thank you for the meal.

The food and drinks are reasonably priced and the origin is clearly stated, so you can enjoy the food with peace of mind. The menu is extensive and you may need to visit multiple times to try everything. Of course, the quality of each dish is also very high, so it's definitely worth visiting if you're nearby!

May 2020 Visit ◎ Visit Food Log 3.22 points (20 reviews) ■ Chicken Nanban Set Meal 850 yen (tax included) * Takeout bento available This time, I visited "Nihonshu and Obanzai Izakaya Mitoki"! The restaurant is located on the basement floor, but they sell bento boxes near the entrance on the 1st floor, which serves as a landmark. I thought it was only for takeout, but you can also dine in the restaurant. The lighting inside is quite dim, with sunken kotatsu seats in the front and a counter in the back. Since there were quite a few customers at the counter, I decided to use the sunken kotatsu to avoid the 3Cs. The restaurant is currently serving lunch due to the impact of the coronavirus, but they plan to return to evening operation once things settle down. The lunch menu has over 15 items, so I had a hard time choosing, but I ordered the "Chicken Nanban Bento". The staff mentioned that it would be served on a plate instead of a bento box. Soon after, it arrived on a large rectangular plate! In addition to the Chicken Nanban, it also came with various side dishes, making it a great deal! You can apparently get refills of rice, but I ended up not getting any. The side dishes included... spicy konjac, broccoli with finely shaved bonito flakes, well-seasoned simmered pumpkin, firm koya tofu, lightly seasoned rolled omelet, and chicken mince with sweet soy sauce over daikon radish. With all these dishes, it made me crave a beer~ The generous serving of homemade tartar sauce with finely chopped cucumber added a crunchy texture! The chicken was tender, with a thin coating that wasn't too crispy, but still delicious Chicken Nanban. Overall, it was quite filling, so I adjusted the rice portion and just had one bowl. Thank you for the meal.

For lunch on this day, I visited a restaurant where I couldn't get a seat during the evening due to being fully booked. This bento box shop offers not only takeout but also dine-in options. The evening atmosphere seems calm, and you can enjoy Kyoto-style obanzai dishes. There was one group at the sunken kotatsu table and one person at the counter when I arrived. I sat at the end of the counter. I ordered the "Ebi Chili Bento (800 yen)." In addition to freshly made ebi chili, the bento box also included fried chicken, red wiener sausage, kiriboshi daikon, simmered taro, spinach ohitashi, nama-fu (wheat gluten), dashimaki tamago (rolled omelette), and more. The portion was surprisingly large, and the plate was huge, making it hard to convey the volume. The staff even mentioned in advance, "If you can't finish it, we'll pack the leftovers for you." The amount was so much that it was hard to finish, and I ended up having almost half of the side dishes packed to go. The miso soup had wakame seaweed and yuba (tofu skin) floating in it. Despite feeling bad for not being able to finish it all for 800 yen, the flavors of each dish were excellent, and the staff's service was pleasant. I hope that when the situation calms down, I can visit Mitoki-san's restaurant for dinner. Thank you for the meal.

The recommended shrimp and taro dish from the staff was delicious. The overall variety and portion of the dishes were perfect. They have a wide range of sake selections, so I might try the all-you-can-drink option next time. Looking forward to my next visit even more now.

It's been a while since I visited. I had some time, so I went to Shijo and visited this restaurant for the first time. The food was delicious, although it felt like the dishes were a bit slow to come out, possibly because there were fewer staff that day. Other than that, I think it was good.

I came in because the reviews were high, but right after entering, I noticed a slight smell... Oil? Fishy? It's hard to describe. I ordered a course, but due to the current situation with COVID, everything came out on large plates, which was a bit surprising. The rice was delicious but a bit too strong in flavor. It might be good for people who drink alcohol, but as someone who drinks, I found the strong flavors a bit off-putting.

The highlighted dish was outstanding. It was my third stop on a cold day, so I was very happy. The obanzai dishes were all delicious, and even though I was already full, I ended up eating a lot.

A shop located underground near Karasuma Station. They served a variety of Japanese sake in just the right amount in small pitchers, so I ended up drinking a lot. The dishes and side dishes were delicious, and I ate a lot, but the prices were reasonable, so it was a great cost-performance restaurant.

After finishing work, I left the office in Umeda at 7:30 pm and went to have dinner with my senior colleague who invited me. I arrived at the restaurant around 8:30 pm. The location was a bit difficult to find! I got lost. It was underground. When I went down the stairs, I found the restaurant. The interior was dark and had an adult-like atmosphere. I was led to a hidden private room with cushions laid out on a normal wooden floor, which was a bit uncomfortable for my feet! The menu was written on paper with a brush, and there were no photos. Sashimi seemed to be their specialty. It seemed like a creative Japanese cuisine restaurant! We had various dishes like sashimi platter, fried chicken, edamame, grilled ray fin, and grilled leek with yuzu pepper flavor. They also had non-alcoholic cocktails, so it's recommended for pregnant women as well. It's a great place for a calm and mature dining experience. The counter is perfect for a date atmosphere, the private room is great for chatting without worrying about others, and the table seating is suitable for anyone. It's a stylish and user-friendly restaurant. Thank you for the meal!
