★ 4.2 [FILE 2004] August 21, 2023 (Monday) 12:17 Visit
This is a Japanese tea cafe that opened in April 2013 on the 5th floor of the Kabuki-za Tower along Showa Street in Ginza. As of May 2023, there are still 22 stores without any new openings or closures. The weather was perfect, so I visited for the third time in 10 days, moving from the Restaurant Sakaki. The interior of the cafe is characterized by wood and black tones, with a glass facade that offers a refreshing view of the rooftop garden. There are 28 seats in total, with private tables at the front and back, as well as tables along the windows. As it was a day when Kabuki-za was not performing, there was no queue, and I was quickly seated at a table with a view of the rooftop garden. There were only 5 customers, with 80% being women and 20% men. The service was provided by two female staff members who were very polite. The menu includes items like Matcha Affogato, Matcha Summer Ice, Matcha and Genmai Eclair, Matcha and Raspberry Mille-feuille, Rich French Toast, Matcha Cream Shiratama Zenzai, Rich Matcha Parfait, and Basque-style Matcha Cheesecake Set. I ordered the Matcha Summer Ice for 1600 yen. It was served 10 minutes after ordering and included Houjicha, cold-brewed green tea, and Matcha Summer Ice. The Houjicha was served as a side. The shaved ice dessert contained Shiratama and Azuki beans with plenty of Matcha syrup made from Nakajima farming method Matcha, and a separate serving of Date palm syrup. The fluffy shaved ice with the slightly bitter Matcha syrup was delicious. As you eat, the Shiratama and Azuki beans add a nice touch, and the Date palm syrup provides a sweet variation. The cafe's atmosphere is airy and open, with a view of the rooftop garden through the glass facade. Since it was a clear day, I was able to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the view of the rooftop garden without any queues due to the Kabuki-za being closed. The recent closed days for Kabuki-za were August 14th (Monday) and 21st (Monday), September 11th (Monday) and 19th (Tuesday), and October 10th (Tuesday) and 17th (Tuesday) in 2023. Credit card payment was accepted. The Matcha Summer Ice for 1600 yen allows you to enjoy the slightly bitter Matcha syrup from Nakajima farming method and the sweet Date palm syrup, making it delicious.
