Located a little ways down from Kiyamachi Sanjo in Kyoto, this seafood tempura izakaya features specialties from the San'in region. The Kiyamachi branch opened in February 2015, with another branch nearby at Shijo Karasuma. The interior has 16 counter seats and 50 table seats, totaling 66 seats. When we visited as a party of two in the evening, the place was full, so we wrote our names on the waiting board and waited a bit. There is an English menu available, as many foreign tourists frequent the place. Our orders included a medium-sized draft beer (¥422), oolong tea (¥303), two servings of appetizers (¥324 each), a platter of three types of San'in seafood sashimi (¥1394), nori-wrapped sushi rolls (¥638), Mifuku beef steak (¥1394), tempura items (chicken ¥206, smelt fish ¥195, shiso leaf ¥98, yam ¥108, lotus root ¥162, large oyster ¥270), and a San'in delicacy tea-pickled dish (¥530). The beef steak, though not specifying its origin, was delicious. We tried the nori-wrapped sushi rolls out of curiosity, and they were also tasty. The tempura is served with grated daikon radish and a sweet soy sauce unique to the San'in region. If the sweetness is too much, you can adjust the flavor with the soy sauce provided. The San'in delicacy tea-pickled dish consisted of various salted delicacies, with a slightly rich taste in the broth. The place, though a bit cramped, offers a chance to enjoy specialties from the San'in region. We would love to visit again if given the opportunity.

Located a 3-minute walk from Sanjo Station on the Keihan Electric Railway, this seafood tempura izakaya in the Kyoto Kiyamachi area offers affordable and delicious tempura and sushi that have been featured in the media and become a hot topic in town. The spacious interior is designed with a mix of private rooms and counter seats, exuding a refined and relaxing atmosphere suitable for all ages and genders. The menu features fresh and premium seasonal seafood from the San'in region, including sushi, sashimi, and a variety of creative dishes. They also offer all-you-can-drink plans with a selection of drinks like draft beer, bottled beer, non-alcoholic beer, shochu, and sake to pair with the dishes. The seafood sashimi platter includes a generous assortment of fresh fish such as thick and fatty bluefin tuna, salmon, tender octopus, and scallops. The popular assorted tempura platter consists of 8 items including shrimp, squid, conger eel, eggplant, chicken tempura, asparagus, scallops, and smelt. The tempura is freshly fried to a crispy and fluffy texture, with a light and airy batter that doesn't feel heavy. It is served with grated daikon radish and salt for a light and refreshing taste. The Kanikurīmu Korokke made with Omāru sōsu from Sakaiminato is crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, with a rich and flavorful sauce that enhances its taste. The sushi platter is beautifully presented with a variety of toppings that allow you to savor the different flavors of each piece. The shiny grains of sushi rice and the flavorful red miso soup add to the overall dining experience. I wanted to eat conger eel pressed sushi as a separate stomach and finish with a drink in my room, so I went to this izakaya expecting a menu for snacks and drinks. The restaurant was crowded, with many foreigners, and bustling. I think the staff were probably students working part-time, but they were working hard and when they told me, "I'm sorry, we're out of Kamo eggplant tempura today," I asked, "Do you have regular eggplant?" and they replied cheerfully, "Yes, we do!" It was impressive that they had the stock status in mind and could answer immediately, amidst many who would have to check first. The tempura batter was crispy, made with egg white or more of a starch. I forgot to use the beer coupon for a free Asahi Super Dry, which was a shame.

I entered the restaurant around the same time it opened. I felt like having a beer and the sign outside indicated that the tempura was reasonably priced. I was seated at a small table for two and ordered the all-you-can-drink beer for 120 minutes without hesitation. The tempura was crispy and delicious. The tempura sauce was served warm in a pot. I also asked for a second serving of grated radish. It was a shame that the onion tempura had some raw parts and that the recommended conger eel tempura was sold out. However, the cost performance was good, and it was understandable why customers kept coming in.

I've been to Mifuku many times, but I think I've only been to the Koya-cho store about twice. It's a bit cleaner than the one near Daimaru. The food is delicious and cost-effective, but it can get a bit noisy at night. It's fine to come alone or with friends, but I wouldn't recommend it for a date.

This is a restaurant where tourists can enjoy Japanese cuisine. I arrived after 8 pm, so many items were sold out, which was disappointing. The deep-fried nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) and fried wakasagi (smelt) were delicious. The sardine sushi had a nice fatty flavor. I wish they had not run out of popular items like sashimi.

I made a reservation online on the same day. The restaurant was very clean and the person who seemed to be the manager was very friendly and provided good service, making the atmosphere comfortable. The food was delicious, and even though as you get older fried food can cause heartburn later, the tempura here was crispy and tasty without causing heartburn. The tempura and sushi allowed foreign tourists to experience a variety of Japanese food at once, and it was relatively affordable, so it seemed to be popular as there were many foreign tourists waiting when I left. I would like to consider this restaurant as an option when I am unsure where to go in Kyoto.

Second visit and I was impressed! The all-you-can-drink option is affordable and perfect for students. The tempura was generously sized and crispy. If they have sushi, I'll definitely order some next time! They're open late, so I'll definitely make use of this place as a second stop again. Thank you for the meal!

When I was looking for a delicious izakaya to visit during my trip to Kyoto, I came across this restaurant and decided to go there! I went around 5:00 PM, and the place was packed due to the year-end season. There were many menu options, and we ordered a variety of dishes to share. The tempura was crispy and very delicious! We also got a free drink for everyone with a coupon, so I enjoyed a refreshing glass of draft beer.

Famous for their tempura fried in 100% rice oil, Rice Fukui is known as the place to go for cheap and delicious tempura in Kyoto. Located on the corner of Kiyamachi Ryoma Street, I ended up visiting the same restaurant twice in a row on the same day. The first time, I was lured in by a bad catch and quickly left, only to return for another round of drinks at the same place. Although I had never heard of this restaurant before, my local friends recommended it, which led to my decision to give it a try. I highly recommend the "Chicken Tempura Skewers" (253 yen) which come with grated daikon radish and shichimi pepper for an added kick. The tender chicken and light batter create a harmonious combination that is both gentle and satisfying. Another recommended dish is the famous "Squid Tempura" (462 yen), which feels quite cheap considering the portion size. The excellence of the squid at this restaurant was evident from the first bite. The "Golden Eye Snapper" (253 yen) may be small, but it is packed with flavor. The "Mentaiko" (319 yen) was also intriguing. I enjoyed some Kyoto craft beer while savoring these dishes, making for a delightful and repeated experience. I wonder who will be lured in next time. That's part of the fun. Matsufuku offers a wide variety of fresh seafood directly sourced from the fishing ports of Sakaiminato and the San'in region, known for their delicious seafood. I was taken to this restaurant by local friends who knew I loved seafood. I have fond memories of enjoying the marinated donburi dish made with "Kanshimame" from the Oki Islands in Shimane in the past. It's the perfect season for squid in the San'in region, and the "Raw Squid Sashimi" was truly amazing. The freshness, size, and flavor were all outstanding. Each piece of nigiri sushi could easily cost 500 yen or more. The sweetness and richness of the squid's body, along with the bouncy texture and flavor of the tentacles, were exceptional. Whether with wasabi or ginger, it was delicious in every way. The "Assorted Sashimi Plate" was also excellent, with particularly outstanding flavors and textures of yellowtail and sea bream. The "Dried Throat Blackthroat Seaperch" was meaty and flavorful, with a good grilling technique. It paired perfectly with the Yuzu sake. Overall, everything was delicious, making it a great dining experience. Thank you for the wonderful meal. (By Kyonatsu Shuaku, 1/8/2023) (56 reviews, average rating 3.23)

♡【Mifuku】♡ Kyoto ❤️ Sanjo ♡ After work, I went to Kiyamachi to satisfy my craving for tempura ( ˶ˆ꒳ˆ˵ ). When you order tempura, a mountain of grated daikon radish is served with it. You can have unlimited refills of daikon radish. Pour tempura sauce over the daikon radish and enjoy it. The tempura has a crispy coating thanks to the use of "rice oil", giving it a light and non-greasy texture. This means you can eat a lot without feeling heavy! The tempura sauce is slightly sweet, so be careful not to use too much and make it too sweet. The restaurant's motto is "cheap and delicious is the best!", and the tempura is both delicious and reasonably priced (。•ᴗ•。)♡. When you want to eat a hearty portion of tempura easily, be sure to give it a try! During a late-night search for dinner in Kyoto in October, I was drawn into a restaurant in Pontocho-Kiyamachi by the energetic voices of the staff. They cheerfully seated us, handed us the menu, and took our order. We enjoyed dishes such as Kamo Nasu (eggplant), Anago (conger eel), half-cooked egg, yam, shrimp, squid, oysters, and pumpkin, along with a sashimi platter and grilled nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch) collar with salt. The surprising thing was how light and refreshing the tempura was. Despite having a decent amount, it didn't leave a heavy feeling of oiliness, and you could still taste the fragrance of the ingredients. The shrimp and conger eel were generously portioned, with a crispy coating that complemented their textures. What's even more surprising is the price – most tempura dishes were priced between 100-200 yen, making it incredibly cost-effective for the quality. The sashimi was delicious as well, but the tempura was the highlight for me.

Mambo had few people and was easy to relax. The fresh seafood dishes were delicious, especially the seared mackerel. The food was tasty and I ended up ordering a lot because the portions were generous. It's cheap and if you're dining alone, a salad and stingray fin are enough. The staff's hospitality was great. It was an excellent restaurant with no complaints. The variety of drinks was satisfying too! I definitely want to go back to this restaurant.

The tempura and sashimi at this restaurant are truly delicious, as expected from Komefuku. The tempura takes a while to come out, but it's so tasty that you can tell they put a lot of effort into making it! The menu is also extensive and reasonably priced, making it a convenient place to visit regularly.

Wednesday 20:10 I planned to go to Seigi-san to have some meat, but they were closed unexpectedly. I was wondering what to do when I stumbled upon Komefuku-san. I knew there was a shop in the Karasuma area, but I didn't realize there was one here too. It looked nice, so I decided to go in if there was a seat available. I was given the option of sitting at the counter or at a table, and I chose a table. There was only one other group of customers there. They were seated in a semi-private area. Soon, a snack arrived - fried chips with grated daikon radish for dipping. Later, I saw on the receipt that the snack cost 330 yen including tax. I looked at the menu and saw they had a dinner set menu, which seemed affordable and tempting, but I decided to go a la carte this time since rice was included with the set. Calpis Sour 390 yen (429 yen) Komefuku Seafood Salad 790 yen (869 yen) Grilled Atka Mackerel 690 yen (759 yen) 20:10 The Calpis Sour arrived promptly. I briefly thought about getting a highball instead for lower sugar content, but I decided not to worry about it. 20:14 The Komefuku Seafood Salad was served. It had a good variety of fresh vegetables, and the sliced vegetables were crisp and fresh. The sashimi was a nice addition. While munching on the snack, the Grilled Atka Mackerel arrived at 20:28. It was a good size and the juicy flesh was satisfying. After finishing the meal, I was quite full. The total bill was 2,387 yen. I don't often go to places where snacks are served when dining alone, but this place seems like a fun spot to order various dishes and enjoy with friends. The salad was particularly good, and I'm curious about other menu items, so I'd like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Today was a company drinking party for those who recently changed jobs. The location was Yonefuku in Kiyamachi, and my junior made the reservation. Due to the influence of the coronavirus, the restaurant was not full, but it is usually crowded with customers. The course meal included salad, grilled dishes, amberjack shabu-shabu, and the famous tempura, all of which were very filling. It's definitely popular among young people. However, it might be a bit too much for older people. The piping hot, generously portioned tempura is highly recommended. Drinks were all-you-can-drink, so I had everything from draft beer to sake of unknown brands. Thank you for the meal.

The healthy tempura made with rice flour is said to be delicious, but one thing to note is that it's always crowded, and there are a lot of foreign customers. Maybe it's because the restaurant is featured in foreign guidebooks?

The shop around here near Pontocho is a good value for money place in this expensive area. The food is from Shimane prefecture, not Kyoto, but the tempura is cheap with generous portions, making it a good deal. The daily specials also offer good value. Depending on what you order, the prices can vary, with some items being quite expensive. The restaurant is spacious, and even though it was empty when I entered, it quickly filled up. The food was consistently delicious. Overall, I think it's a convenient and user-friendly restaurant.

I made a reservation for a 4000 yen course!! It includes a variety of dishes such as sashimi, yakiniku, and tempura, and even comes with all-you-can-drink, so it might be quite a good deal. It can be a bit of a hassle to order when there are many people, so it's convenient. The beef and vegetables on the hot plate sizzle so much that smoke fills the room, and when you open the window, foreign tourists peek in curiously. The waiting area is also filled with foreign tourists. Maybe they want to try the tempura. The tempura was indeed crispy and delicious, especially the kinmedai (golden eye snapper) tempura. The tempura dipping sauce was good, but salt was also nice. The seafood bowl from Saisengyo had sashimi that was too warm, making the taste indescribable. However, it paired well with miso soup, surprisingly!!!

At a company drinking party. The course was around ¥4,000, I think? We had high expectations for the tempura, as it was said to be delicious!! First, we had sashimi. Unfortunately, the plate was warm, so the sashimi ended up being lukewarm and disappointing. Let's stay positive and look forward to the next dish! Next up was the tempura. It's hard to tell from the photo, but the size was quite generous. And it was delicious!! I prefer salt with my tempura, so I enjoyed it with salt. Lastly, we had lava grill. It was tasty, but the meat was quite fatty and a bit tough. The smoke was also intense, so be careful!

I went on a business trip to Kyoto with my company!!! For dinner tonight, we went to Yonefuku in Kyoto's Kiyamachi. We made a reservation for a course meal, and everything was delicious. (^○^) What was especially tasty was the grilled meat on a ceramic plate. The beef was grilled on the ceramic plate and it was exquisite!!! Everyone dug in so quickly that I missed the timing to take a photo... I am originally from Kyoto, but Kiyamachi on weekdays is quiet and different from the past, which is unfortunate... However, the inside of Yonefuku was packed with customers to the point of having a wait. It was amazing. We had a group reservation, so we had a course menu, but I'm sure the individual dishes are also delicious!!! I will definitely visit again when I return to Kyoto. ^_^
