When I felt like having morning ramen, I found out that the "Yatai Ramen Banrai-ya Honten" that I used to go to had closed down! Luckily, I found another place that also serves morning ramen. I heard it was Akira-style, so I had high hopes. I ordered the regular "Ramen," which came with chashu, bean sprouts, and green onions. The chef had trained at the Takabashi Honten of the main Asahi ramen shop near Kyoto Station for about 10 years, and the taste definitely had that Akira-style touch, although it felt a bit light. The noodles were medium thickness straight noodles, cooked to a soft texture but with a chewy and pleasant mouthfeel. It's best not to order them too firm. The chashu was sweetly seasoned, but you could still taste the deliciousness of the pork. At the main Asahi shop, Yanninja is a popular way to change the flavor, but here they offered shichimi pepper. I enjoyed adjusting the spiciness little by little while finishing every last drop of the soup. I might visit again, but as someone with a small appetite, it seems like a challenge to try adding extra meat due to the portion size.

I had the special ramen and a small rice. The soup tastes light, but has a strong umami and richness. The soy sauce aroma lingers in the aftertaste, which I personally find enjoyable. The noodles are substantial, providing a satisfying meal for a late breakfast or an early lunch.

I visited Raamen Miya, which is located in the former location of Banraiya. I had heard good things about this place from various sources, so I was looking forward to visiting. The restaurant is set up in the same space as Banraiya, with the parking lot seemingly unchanged. It was a bit confusing for me as the parking lot looked cleaner since the last time I visited. The parking lot can accommodate 2 cars, with spaces numbered 21 and 22. It is located a bit further away, so please refer to the images for directions.
I decided to try the Meat-Extra Ramen (1350 yen including tax), which I had already chosen before my visit. The ramen is a familiar tonkotsu shoyu style in Kyoto. The soup was clear, clean, and had a refreshing taste without any off-flavors, making it quite delicious. The standout was the chashu, which was incredibly tasty. It was the most delicious chashu I've had in a long time. When visiting here, I recommend ordering a menu item with lots of chashu. It might be impolite to say, but it was so much better than Banraiya – even better than Daiichi Asahi and Shinpukusai. The owner has a strong commitment to the chashu, and if they are not satisfied with the ramen itself, they may close the shop. Although I am not affiliated with the restaurant, I was very satisfied to have a perfect bowl of ramen after a long time. I would like to visit again soon.

Ramen with extra meat for 1350 yen. I visited a new restaurant that opened in place of Banraiya. The parking lot was the same as before, which was convenient. I decided to try the familiar option of ramen with extra meat. The meat-to-noodle ratio was high, making it appealing for meat lovers. The soup had a different color from before, more like the style of Daiichi Asahi. The taste was exactly like Daiichi Asahi, not really distinctive. It was a bit confusing as the ramen with extra meat from Banraiya had a different soup base. Maybe I should have tried the regular ramen first before trying this one. However, having morning ramen in Kyoto is a rare treat. If you head north from here, you'll find Daiichi Asahi, and if you go south, you'll find Shinfuku. It will be interesting to see how this place develops in the future. By chance, the owner of Banraiya was dining next to me today! I heard he will be opening a new restaurant on the outskirts of Fushimi, focusing on evening meals. I'm looking forward to that as well.

Good morning~ ( ̄Д ̄)ノ Today we're going all out with a hearty breakfast ramen! The restaurant I used to go to for breakfast ramen closed down, so I found a new place through Yocchan's Papa-san reviews where they serve a meaty ramen. The place is called Ramen Miya (8-115 Fukakusa Nishinorimachi, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto) and I went there at 9 in the morning. I parked my bike outside and went in. Looking at the photos of the place, you might think it used to be a Banrai shop, and you'd be right! They offer a meat extra chashu ramen for 1350 yen, and I added a large portion of rice for 200 yen. I also asked for garlic. The place has 7 counter seats and 2 tables for 6 people each. They have shichimi and pepper on the tables. The ramen arrived with a mountain of chashu and green onions on top. There are bean sprouts at the bottom. The soup, made by the former Akira shop owner, had a Kyoto ramen-like flavor. The noodles were thicker than the usual Kyoto ramen noodles and had a nice firmness to them. I enjoyed placing the chashu on the rice and eating it together. They also served pickled vegetables, which was a nice touch. I added garlic and pepper halfway through, and that's the best way to enjoy it. The chashu had a good mix of lean and fatty parts. I finished everything without getting tired of it. I would love to come back for more chashu and extra rice. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I visited a newly opened restaurant on September 1st that opens at 7 am. The parking lot was full, so I parked at a nearby coin parking and arrived at the restaurant around 7 am. I sat at the counter seat and looked at the menu. There were 7 ramen options, including a discounted student ramen, and I decided to order the "Extra Meat Ramen" (1,350 yen), which caught my eye. The bowl was overflowing with slices of chashu, and chopped green onions and bean sprouts were also served in the middle. The soup was a light tonkotsu broth with the umami of pork, commonly known as Akira-style, but it wasn't too salty and had a perfect balance of saltiness, richness, and mildness. The noodles were not the usual Kindo Seimen, but they were made with medium-thin straight noodles from Menya Teioku, which were smooth on the surface, had a good texture, and went well with the soup. The chashu was plentiful, thick, tender, and had just the right amount of fat, creating a well-balanced combination of meat and fat without feeling heavy. It was delicious, and I finished it all. I could feel the uniqueness of not using Kindo Seimen in an Akira-style ramen, and the soup had a strong umami flavor. I would like to try the ramen with lots of green onions next time.

I visited the restaurant around 8:30 am on Sunday, September 3, 2023. I parked my car in a slightly distant parking lot and walked towards the shop. Inside the shop, there were peony flowers displayed, a sign of a good ramen shop. In Kyoto, ramen shops that use peony noodles are generally reliable. I sat at an empty counter seat and ordered firm ramen. The soup had a rich animal-based flavor, a traditional soy sauce ramen from Kyoto! The broth was delicious! The noodles had a good texture. The chashu was tasty! It didn't have any special newness, but it was good as it is!

Visited in September 2023. No Tabelog rating at the time of posting (1 review). Ramen 850 yen + Small rice 150 yen. The owner, who used to work at the renowned ramen shop "Daiichi Asahi" in Kyoto, opened a new shop on the site of "Banrai-ya" on September 1st. The shop is called "Ramen Miya." It offers the familiar Akira-style ramen with a tonkotsu soy sauce base. There is a parking lot for 2 cars a short walk away from the shop. The shop has around 13-14 seats, including counter and table seating. Self-service for water and towels. I ordered ramen and a small rice for exactly 1,000 yen. The "Special Ramen" with 1.3 times more noodles and extra chashu for 150 yen more seems like a good deal. I like the soup with its tonkotsu and sweet soy sauce flavors. The chashu is well-seasoned with a delicious fattiness. They also provide takuan when you order rice, which pairs well with the Akira-style soup. Great meal.

Today, I visited a ramen shop in Fukakusa, Fushimi-ku, Kyoto. The shop is called "Raamen Miyago". The owner trained for 10 years at a popular ramen shop near Kyoto Station before opening this new shop on September 1, 2023. The interior has an L-shaped counter and table seating at the back. The regular ramen starts at 850 yen, with variations like "Student Discount Ramen", "Meatless Ramen", and "Mini Ramen" priced at 700 yen. This time, I ordered the "Extra Meat Ramen" for 1,350 yen.
The Extra Meat Ramen was topped with so much chashu that you could hardly see the noodles. The soup is a rich pork bone soy sauce base, with a deep umami flavor. The owner's experience from 10 years of training really shows in the skillful taste. The noodles are similar to those from Menya Toshiro, with a good slurping texture. The chashu had a generous amount and a nice balance of fat, which paired well with the soy sauce soup. It was so filling that it seemed to never run out. A satisfying and stable pork bone soy sauce ramen that makes you want to eat it regularly.
