On a hot holiday evening, I enjoyed the atmosphere of the traditional streets in Ikegami, while visiting a cafe in a renovated old house near Ikegami Honmonji Temple. The gentle breeze from the fan brushed my cheeks as I immersed myself in the beauty of the Japanese architecture. The pricey shaved ice was worth it, considering the costs of maintaining such a historic building. The roasted green tea shaved ice with condensed milk and sweet red beans cost 1,790 yen. The cafe had a spacious courtyard with many tables, perfect for relaxing on a cooler day. I hope this lovely old house continues to stand for a long time.

Old folk house cafe. It was used as a filming location for the drama "Semi Otoko". There were autographed signboards from the cast members. The cheeseburger had fluffy buns and the cheese was irresistible for cheese lovers, with a perfect melt. The patty was juicy and flavorful. Ketchup is an extra 30 yen. The fries were delicious even when cold. They have a wide variety of alcohol on the menu, so it's recommended for those who enjoy drinking.

I will write it down as tastes can vary quite a bit. The entrance door is open, allowing the hot air from the kitchen and the heat from outside to create a rather warm atmosphere inside. There is an air conditioner, so it's not scorching hot, but there were a few people who seemed to be sensitive to the cold. Therefore, even on weekends, there were empty seats. This time, for that reason, I ordered shaved ice to cool down. As expected, it melts quickly. The shaved ice was fluffy and delicious, so please enjoy it before it melts completely. The one in the photo cost 1490 yen without condensed milk. Thank you for the meal.

The atmosphere is excellent! There were people using computers, reading books, couples, moms chatting, friends hanging out... a variety of people were there. It seems that many famous people also visit this place, as there were signed autographs displayed. Taller individuals should watch out for the low ceilings as it is a traditional Japanese house. Women wearing high heels should also be careful. The first floor has table seating, while the second floor has tatami seating. Prices are on the higher side, but considering the ambiance, it seems reasonable. If you are nearby, definitely give it a try!

I received a Goshuin at Ota Shrine during the Ota Shrine Grand Festival in May, then visited Ikegami Honmonji Temple before having lunch. The exterior of the restaurant is reminiscent of a bygone era, with lattice doors and vintage glass. There is a counter in the entrance hall where you place your order, and you are given a buzzer to wait for your food at an available table. Once your dish is ready, you go to the counter to pick it up. I was also able to go upstairs, but carrying the food up seemed difficult, so I opted for a seat on the first floor. The second floor seemed like it may have been a banquet hall in the past, with two spacious tatami rooms and May dolls displayed in the tokonoma alcove. The back of the first floor offers a dazzling view of the green backyard. For lunch, I had chicken in lemon cream sauce with rice. The mild chicken cooked with lemon in cream sauce had a refreshing and slightly sweet flavor. It was garnished with shimeji mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and spinach, and black pepper added a nice touch. The omelette with potatoes and salad made it a well-balanced one-plate meal. I was tempted by the sweets and drinks, but I was too full this time. The atmosphere was pleasant and soothing.

Foodie adventure⁉️ I stopped by on my walk. I knew from a local information magazine map that this old folk house was on the way from Ikegami Honmonji to Ikegami Station, but when I was about to pass by, I decided to stop by a little while ago and was drawn to enter by the pleasant atmosphere in front of me ( *´艸`). Since I had already had lunch, I used it for tea time. The interior of the store was such that you could go up with your shoes on, and there seemed to be seats on the second floor as well. There were also terrace seats outside... well, rather a courtyard (lol). There were several table seats in the garden, so we had our tea there. First, we secured our seats, ordered at the register, and then waited for our order to be called with a buzzer. Water was self-service, and flavored water was available. The interior of the store was very cozy and relaxing. It was a wonderful season of new greenery with very good weather on this day, so we chose the courtyard seats. I ordered the original drink ▫️ Punch de Ponchi for 990 yen and my friend ordered the Strawberry Soda for 890 yen. The atmosphere in the courtyard was really wonderful. It was so relaxing with the air, quietness, and calmness of nature that it was hard to believe it was in Tokyo. I felt very healed. I thought this environment was a priceless cafe. Just this made me want to come back again. Now, this original drink with an interesting name Punch de Ponchi had the option to choose between a yogurt drink or soda when ordering. I chose the yogurt drink. The glass contained ice, several round fruit jellies, and fruits like mandarins, with glass fruits decorating it. It looks so cute ❤️ They poured the yogurt drink from a milk bottle into it. When I tried the fruit jelly inside, it had a very bouncy and rich texture. It was a fun drink with an interesting texture and appearance. The strawberry soda was also very cute. They have a rich lunch menu and of course, desserts as well. Even if you go on an empty stomach, you will be fully satisfied. It was a lovely cafe that made me want to revisit right away. Thank you for the meal. I was healed during my walk. Various payments like PayPay were possible.

On the way back from visiting the grave, I got thirsty so I took a break. I vaguely remember coming in here a long time ago when it was a soba noodle restaurant. I ordered a coffee float. I secured a seat first, then went back to the entrance to place my order. I was given a beeper and when my order was ready, I went to pick it up. When leaving, I had to clean up after myself. The current season had the windows wide open, and it was nice to see the garden. I wonder how it would be in the summer?

We arrived at the opening time of 11 o'clock and there were customers already lining up before opening. Since we had children with us, we were planning to sit in the tatami room on the second floor, but it seemed to be reserved, so we ended up using the terrace seats. There were 3 adults and 3 children, so we chose the terrace seats to avoid disturbing others, but the children ended up wandering around and bothering many people. Thankfully, people were kind and understanding. We ordered potato, cheesecake, and juice. We also added ketchup for an extra 50 yen. The total came to 2020 yen. The children really enjoyed the potatoes and kept eating them. We ordered orange juice without ice, and they brought it in small cups which made it easy to drink. There was a candy store nearby where we also had a good time.

The cheesecake is smooth and creamy with a rich cheese flavor that is not too heavy, making it refreshing to eat. It has a smooth texture that is irresistible. It was delicious. I highly recommend it to everyone.

There is a cafe near Ikegami Honmonji Temple that I have always been curious about. I visited around 2 pm on a weekday and there was no line, so I was able to secure a seat before ordering. I had coffee and Basque cheesecake. Inside, there was an old-fashioned stove that created a nostalgic atmosphere. They also offer a lunch menu during lunchtime, which I am interested in trying next time.

After seeing the plum blossoms, I stopped by a cafe in an old traditional house. It was quite busy, with about three groups waiting to enter, possibly because there were many similar customers. Inside, there were many steps and the seating was quite close together, so you had to be careful when carrying drinks. However, the atmosphere was really nice and I was able to relax. It seems like it would be nice to visit at night as well, so I would like to go again next time.

A charming old house cafe, built in the early Showa period, with an attractive exterior and interior that has been used for filming movies and other productions multiple times. Located near Ikegami Station, it is always bustling with visitors drawn to its quaint atmosphere. On this particular day, after visiting the Ikegami Plum Garden for hanami, I stopped by the cafe around 3 pm to try their limited menu item available from 2 pm. I had the French toast with chocolate sauce, which was made with baguette soaked in egg mixture, topped with sugar and cream, and served with warm chocolate sauce on the side. The portion of chocolate sauce was generous, and it was a delightful combination with the French toast. The cafe has a unique ordering system where you pay at the entrance after placing your order. Due to the current situation, there have been changes such as self-service water and clearing your own table. Although the decor and system have evolved over time, the cafe still retains its charm and remains a popular spot for visitors. Despite the full house on a weekday, I refrained from taking photos inside to respect the privacy of other customers. The second floor features a tatami room for a traditional Japanese experience.

Basque cheesecake for 690 yen and blended coffee for 660 yen. Visited on Saturday around 1:20 PM. There is a blackboard at the entrance with instructions on how to order: first, choose a seat, order and pay at the counter, then pick up your order when your number is called. Upon entering, a staff member informed us that the first-floor tables were full, but there was one available table in the second-floor tatami area, as well as some outdoor seating. We climbed the narrow, creaky staircase to the second floor and secured a table. After placing our order at the counter on the first floor, we received a buzzer and went back upstairs to wait. After about 15 minutes, the buzzer went off, and we went downstairs to pick up our items. The coffee was generously filled in the cup, so we had to be careful not to spill while climbing the narrow stairs. The second floor had a spacious tatami area with about 10 tables, providing a relaxing atmosphere. The Basque cheesecake had a nicely browned outer layer, giving it a slightly firm texture but still moist and soft inside. The cheese flavor and sweetness were just right, making it delicious. The blended coffee had a mild bitterness and a hint of acidity, refreshing and pleasant. It was nice to relax in the tatami area on the second floor, where we could take off our shoes. When we left around 2 PM, there was already a long line of people waiting.

I visited Hongo-ji Temple in Ikegami. For lunch, I went to a renovated cafe that used to be a soba shop. They mainly serve creative dishes. The prices are based on the atmosphere, so I didn't really consider the cost performance this time (lol). They mentioned that there might be a long wait if you follow the usual order, so if you want to eat outside, it's better to go early. We enjoyed the open terrace at first, but then it started raining. We all took shelter under a pop-up tarp like you would see at a campsite, along with other customers and families. It was a unique experience to enjoy the food in such a setting. The warm soup and the delicious food, like the Rengetsu Plate Lunch (A) for 1690 yen (tax included), hot coffee for 660 yen (tax included), and the soup set for 400 yen (tax included), were all delightful.

*Waiting time* Arrived around 11:15 on Saturday, 3rd in line, opened at 11:30. *Order & Price* Croque-monsieur set for 1390 yen. *Atmosphere* The cafe is a renovated former traditional soba restaurant, with a charming and lovely interior. The first floor has table seating, while the second floor has spacious tatami seating. *Service* Self-service for both pick-up and cleaning, with designated areas for cleaning up. You are given a bell to ring when you need assistance. There is self-service fruit-infused water available. *Impression* The quiche was served cold and the salad was a bit too firm. The croque-monsieur was satisfyingly filling, with a generous portion. It was freshly made, warm, and the melted cheese was delicious. The appetizers were a bit lacking, but the croque-monsieur made up for it with its generous portion. *Expectations* I was able to enjoy a leisurely time in a wonderful space.

I visited around 4:00 PM. It's a cafe in a residential area near Ikegami Honmonji Temple, housed in a traditional Japanese-style building. The exterior and interior are lovely and exciting. The second floor has tatami mat seating, so it's a comfortable place for families with small children to dine. It was a weekday, so I was seated right away without having to wait. You need to secure your seat first and then place your order near the entrance. They give you an alarm and you pick up your order when it rings. I had the "Punch de Ponch" for 990 yen, which is a glass filled with grapefruit, pineapple, round jelly, canned mandarin oranges, and peaches, with ramune soda to pour over. It looks refreshing and tastes like ramune, perfect for social media photos. The water cooler had orange and lemon slices, giving the water a refreshing aroma and taste. They also have food menu, and the plate with multigrain rice looked delicious. I'll try that next time. The staff, especially a kind lady, was great. The only downside was the loud voice of the male staff in the kitchen, which slightly disrupted the nice atmosphere.

I had some business to attend to in Ota Ward, so I visited the old folk house cafe Rengetsu! It's a shop renovated from an old folk house, and when you go upstairs, you can hear creaking sounds, giving you a feeling of going back to your grandfather's house. It used to be a soba shop before. I ordered a blueberry muffin and an iced coffee! It's a bit of a hassle to go and get it yourself in a self-service style, but it adds to the charm. The muffin was warmed up and soft, very delicious! It's so cozy that you end up staying for a long time!

The soba restaurant was not a fancy place, more like a casual eatery with a variety of dishes like gyudon, curry rice, and ramen. It closed in June 2014. When I visited, the first floor was full so I had to go up a narrow staircase to secure a table on the second floor first. I ordered at the counter on the first floor, and the beer was brought up quickly. The food was delivered using a system where a device notified when it was ready, and then I had to go downstairs to pick it up. It was quite a hassle. The egg sandwich was made with soft white bread, lettuce, and some sauerkraut-like purple cabbage. It was supposed to be toasted, but it didn't seem very toasted. The plate also came with a lettuce salad and a Spanish omelette with potatoes and onions. The combination of salad and Spanish omelette felt like a typical cafe menu item. I had a craft beer from the Oimori Sanno Brewery called Ann, a Belgian White IPA with orange peel for a fragrant aroma. Overall, it was a fun experience to visit, but I'm not sure if I would go back regularly. However, it seemed popular as there was a line when I left.
