At the approach to Kiyomizu-dera, there is a pickles shop. After walking around Kiyomizu-dera, I was drawn to the refreshing lemon pickles for a vegetable boost and bought one. The pickles had a light saltiness, which was refreshing. There were a few other shops selling cucumbers, but this shop put them in a plastic bag for easy eating on the go. It was a nice touch to be able to put the used chopsticks back in the bag and tie it up.

◻️ Refreshing Lemon Cucumber ¥250
Lately, the daytime has been too hot, making me feel like summer is just around the corner. I ordered this to satisfy my hunger. It's consistently delicious and always hits the spot. It's a shame that the energetic grandma who used to work here wasn't around. I wonder if I just missed her or if she retired... I'd love to see her again.

A lively grandma was selling cucumber sticks at the front of the store, making jokes as she did. I couldn't resist and ended up buying some. She jokingly said, "That'll be 250 million dollars!" I paid 250 yen and received a cucumber stick wrapped in a plastic bag. With a "One, two, three" chant, the bag was lifted up, preventing pickle juice from dripping on my hands. I enjoyed the refreshing taste of the cucumber stick as I walked along the approach. It was delicious and not too pickled, which I liked. Thank you for the meal.

Kawakatsu Sohonke was my first visit to a pickled vegetable store, and I was grateful to be able to sample various items. There were cucumber pickles, daikon leaf pickles, turnip pickles, pickled radish, takuan, and leafy vegetable pickles, all of which were light and not too salty, and delicious! I bought a variety of items and enjoyed them.

I chose Kawakatsu Sohonpo☆ and received yuzu-flavored pickled long potatoes from them☆ The yuzu flavor is elegant and the pickles are cut into easy-to-eat sizes. They have a unique sticky and crunchy texture. Since they are yuzu-flavored, I think they would go well with shochu or sake(^^) Kyoto vegetables come in a variety of types and the pickling skills of the pickling shop are excellent, so any vegetable they pickle turns into high-quality pickles(゜.゜) I have never had a bad experience with a pickling shop. Truly, "There is deliciousness in the ancient capital." I enjoyed it refreshingly☆ Thank you☆ It was a feast☆

On November 26, 2016, in the morning, I visited this shop located on Shimizu-zaka. Although it is a pickles shop, they also sell lemon cucumber sticks. I couldn't resist and ended up buying one for 250 yen. The taste was delicious with a subtle lemon flavor and not too spicy. The staff at this shop can speak a little English. When a Chinese customer tried to eat a cucumber stick without paying, the staff said "No" in English. It's also recommended for those who enjoy eating while walking around.

In June 2011, near Kiyomizu-dera Temple, there is a pickle shop called "Kawakatsu Sōhonke." They offer a variety of pickles for tasting before purchasing. The reviewer tried three different pickles: "Waribidai-kon" (525 yen), "Hanagobō" (525 yen), and "Harihari-zuke" (473 yen). They found the pickles to be delicious and unique, with flavors that stood out from other pickles they had tried before. The reviewer particularly enjoyed the subtle and elegant taste of the Waribidai-kon, the crispy texture and savory flavor of the Hanagobō, and the crunchy Harihari-zuke with a slightly stronger taste. Despite usually buying pickles from a local supermarket, the reviewer was impressed by the quality and variety offered at Kawakatsu Sōhonke.

It was so hot that I felt like buying a cucumber if it got in my eyes, and I found one at this store so I asked for one. It said "lemon cucumber" but there was no lemon taste. Well, I like salty cucumbers so it was delicious even without the lemon taste! It seems good for preventing heatstroke. Thank you for the meal.

On a day when my stomach was already full and I thought I wouldn't eat anything else, I was tempted by the "Refreshing Lemon Cucumber Skewer"... Just as I was about to resist this temptation, I couldn't help but have a few bites! I still don't know how to avoid this temptation... I didn't even take a photo... Finished it in three bites! So refreshing~♪ I thought of giving some as a souvenir to my mother who couldn't go to Kiyomizu-dera temple this time due to her weak legs. The pictures are of "Refreshing Lemon Cucumber" and "Shredded Mountain Pepper". They are perfect as rice accompaniments! The customer service was also excellent. When I visit Kiyomizu-dera temple next time, I will definitely visit Kawakatsu Sogo Honke again. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Tired or thirsty...there was a refreshing deliciousness that revived me!! "Refreshing Lemon Cucumber" When you go down the main approach from Kiyomizu Temple, you will find the shop. "Kawakatsu Sōhonke Kiyomizu Temple Approach Store" Amidst the various shops with long lines, a few of us managed to buy quickly!! *There were quite a few people walking around eating cucumbers. And, to my surprise, it was delicious!! I had once regretted buying the same visual item somewhere else and thought I would never buy it again, but the deliciousness that blew me away!! I hesitated to buy another one, but the timing of that deliciousness just now made me feel that I wouldn't be able to experience it again without going around the crowded Kiyomizu Temple, so maybe next time. Definitely on a crowded sunny day on the way back!! For hydration and replenishing salts. Thank you for the joy of over 250 yen.

One of the most popular tourist spots in Kyoto, representing Japan, is Kiyomizu-dera. It is loved by people of all ages and is always crowded with tourists. Kiyomizu-dera is also famous as a food spot. I visited the popular food spots around Kiyomizu-dera. One of them is Kawakatsu Sohonke, which has a total of 14 stores including the one in Kiyomizu. The "Kiyomizu store" is a long-established store that was founded in June 2004, now in its 19th year. The store is located near Kiyomizu-Gojo Station, about a 15-minute walk from the station. Kawakatsu Sohonke sells pickles such as cucumbers and radishes. Located on the approach to Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto, this store is particularly popular with tourists and foreigners. The most popular menu item is the "Refreshing Lemon Cucumber." A whole cucumber pickled in lemon is skewered for easy eating. The crispy and refreshing cucumber with a hint of lemon flavor is delicious and highly recommended, especially on hot days. It is also recommended for when you want a refreshing break while food walking around Kiyomizu-dera. On this day, I visited Kiyomizu-dera for food walking, and since there are many sweet and fried foods, this cucumber dish is perfect for those who want something light to eat. Approaching the path to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Strolling around, checking out various shops. Lots of school trip students around. It's hot though. Phew. In times like this, you need this! A perfectly timed, refreshing pickled cucumber. Served with a slice of lemon, looking deliciously arranged. Price is not a concern. Of course, you'll eat it. Crisp texture, full of moisture. So refreshing~. The plastic bag conveniently catches the drippings, allowing you to eat without getting your hands dirty. They also take care of the trash. Perfect for eating on the go.
