A Western-style cafe that is particular about carefully selected ingredients that blend in with the tranquil atmosphere of Kitayama. This casual cafe is a step above, perfect for everyday use or special occasions. Kitayama Western Food, a cafe that focuses on carefully selected ingredients and is located about 8 minutes north of Kitayama Station, is the origin of Kitayama's Western-style cafe. The modest and elegant storefront blends in with the serene streets of Kitayama, with a heavy feeling of a tiled roof. This cafe is also located in AEON MALL Kyoto and Suita, Osaka, and last summer they opened an omelette rice specialty store in Osaka as well, showing a wide range of management. The open and airy interior, with exposed beams and stylish indirect lighting, has a bright and elegant atmosphere. The seats are set in a country style, with natural decorations that create a soft and soothing interior environment. From your seat, you can watch the chef heading to the kitchen. The spacious layout of the seats, with about 50 seats, including sofa seats, creates a flexible and comfortable atmosphere. The outdoor terrace seating is ideal for use during the good seasons. Pets are also allowed, and you can enjoy your meal with a vast view of the mountains and the tranquil countryside scenery right in front of you. There are blankets and toys for young children near the seats. The cabinet offers a variety of books, from tourist guides related to Kyoto to picture books and cafe books. Beautifully designed art books add a touch of glamour to the interior. The menu uses only Kyoto vegetables harvested locally. Herbs and coriander are also harvested by the company, ensuring a healthy and thoughtful content. The dinner menu includes Kyoto beef steak, known as the taste of tradition and culture. You can also enjoy a variety of espresso-based drinks as well as cakes and parfaits. The lunch menu includes seasonal dishes and offers a wide variety of options. I chose the Kyoto Vegetable Curry Omelette Rice from the seasonal recommendations. The lunchtime set includes soup and salad. The staff's hospitality is excellent, with polite and smart service. It is a bit far from the station, but the parking space makes it very busy during lunchtime. After 12 o'clock, customers with reservations start coming in one after another, and it quickly becomes almost full. Opened in 2007, it has been over 10 years, and it seems to be highly valued by the local residents as a place for gatherings. The seats are all non-smoking, so you can enjoy your lunch without worrying about smoke. It is also available for private parties, and the stylish and spacious space is perfect for hosting small parties. The diverse selection of alcohol and a la carte dishes, combined with a moody atmosphere, makes it a great choice for second parties or late-night cafes. It was a cozy Western-style cafe loved by the local community. The soup is a corn soup based on bouillon. The light texture is rich and creamy yet light. The bowl is filled with plenty of greens such as mizuna, green leaf lettuce, and bell peppers with a deep dressing that matches nicely. Kyoto Vegetable Curry Omelette Rice A luxurious omurice made by the chef with homemade curry and a generous amount of freshly cut Kyoto vegetables. The curry is a Western-style type, initially sweet and slightly spicy later on. The vegetables, such as radishes, eggplants, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, and carrots, have a solid texture and are cooked to preserve the sweetness and umami of the ingredients themselves. The hand-sized classic-shaped omurice has a thick layer of egg on the outside, ensuring that the surface is cooked through, while the inside has a slightly rare texture. The inside is a fluffy and milky egg with a subtle bouillon flavor, combined with a flavorful European-style curry and a light ensemble. Overall, the professional skills of Western cooking that are not achievable in a typical home are subtly evident.
