Kuramae in Tokyo. A popular area known as "Tokyo's Brooklyn" with small workshops and beautifully renovated old buildings. Tucked away in a narrow alley in this corner stands "Kabuki," a cafe that is known only to a select few. They specialize in meticulously roasted coffee and homemade chocolates. The two-story renovated traditional house sells chocolates and coffee beans on the first floor, while the second floor serves as a cozy cafe space. The owner, Yusuke Kabuki, worked as a cocoa and chocolate technician at a confectionery company after graduating from university, before opening "Kabuki" in 2016, a cafe specializing in self-roasted coffee and chocolates. I was recommended to visit by a pastry chef friend who said it was the best place to enjoy delicious coffee in Tokyo. [Coffee break at Kabuki] *Comments are in the photos. ◎No photos allowed inside ◆Straight (Ethiopian coffee beans) ☆Mocha Yirgacheffe (medium roast) ◆Blend ☆Haku (slightly dark roast) ◆Muku Chocolate ◆Souvenir chocolates ☆Kamogao ☆Chuao ◉The slightly dim cafe on the second floor is quiet and serene. With a wooden counter of 8 seats and 3 tables for 2, the simple space without any unnecessary elements is very comfortable. Groups of 3 or more, small children, and loud voices are not allowed, so the cafe is often visited by individuals, making it a very peaceful place to relax. The meticulously brewed coffee and high-quality chocolates by the owner, Mr. Kabuki, were a perfect match and made for an addictive and delightful experience. It's a cafe that you may want to keep to yourself. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I'm really sorry. I know taking photos is not allowed, but everything about the restaurant - the interior, the staff, the customers, and the food - was perfect. I just had to capture and save it in a photo. I thought it was not allowed, but before I knew it, it was saved in my phone's memory. I'm really sorry. It was a wonderful time. The coffee was the best I've had recently. I had a coffee called "Haku," and it was so amazing that I was left speechless by its wonderful flavor. I definitely want to have it again.

I came with two friends, and when we entered, we were told to have one person sit at the counter and the other two at a table. The restaurant does not allow photography inside. We went up to the second floor using the stairs and I sat at the counter while my friends sat at a table in the back. I ordered the darkest roast coffee and the seasonal dessert menu item, the passion fruit and chocolate parfait. My friends also ordered the darkest roast coffee, but I noticed that the coffee was brewed together for two people instead of individually. The taste seemed slightly different from before, perhaps because it wasn't the owner brewing it this time. Coffee can be tricky. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant on the day it opened before it moved. I happened to stop by on a Monday after the relocation, which was a day for selling goods only, and bought some chocolate. I had been wanting to visit the cafe for a while. I saw a business sign at the entrance and went inside. There were illustrations everywhere that said no photography allowed. I climbed the chic wooden stairs, which seemed to have more steps than I expected. Inside, the lighting was dim and the atmosphere was still elegant. There were counter seats and tables in the back. I noticed that some items on the menu contained alcohol. I was intrigued by the Coffee Jelly and Queen of Amber, both of which used alcohol. I had a personal connection to Queen of Amber from the past. I had lost my favorite Queen of Amber when a shop closed down, so seeing it on the menu here piqued my interest. I ordered it and found that the milk layer was lighter than I expected, with the alcohol adding a sharpness to the coffee. It was different from the Queen of Amber I had enjoyed before, but it had a unique and intriguing richness to it. This shop, called Kabuki, has a unique and creative world view that is truly outstanding.

I arrived at the shop as soon as it opened, but there were already customers in the cafe on the second floor. Photography was not allowed inside the cafe. I ordered the Amber Queen. It was a beautiful cup with a strong taste of rum, and layers of coffee and milk. I bought some coffee beans on my way out from the first floor. The tranquil atmosphere was perfect for some alone time.

I visited Mr. Kabuki, famous for their home-roasted coffee and chocolate, on a Sunday in April. I ordered the "Haku" coffee (700 yen) and the "Kakou" chocolate (300 yen). The exterior of the shop looks like a house, with a signboard that made me nervous as it was my first visit alone. Stepping inside, I was immediately enveloped in the scent of chocolate. The first floor sells chocolate and home-roasted coffee beans, and I was asked if I was there for the café, then guided to the second floor. I arrived around 9:30 am on a Sunday, half an hour after the shop opened. The counter seats were mostly occupied, so I was directed to a unique single-seat table against the wall. It felt like a study space in a cram school, away from the counter, creating a very private atmosphere. Other tables near the window were also available. The customers were mostly individuals or pairs, reading books or talking quietly, with soft music playing in the background. The coffee I ordered, "Haku," was described as having a deep roast with richness and sweetness. The "Kakou" chocolate chosen to pair with the coffee had a vibrant acidity and fruity aroma, reminiscent of raspberries and plums. It had a bright, feminine, and beautiful flavor. With my newfound appreciation for quality over quantity, thanks to fasting, I felt grateful to have such a genuine place nearby. I look forward to returning in the colder months to savor a hot chocolate slowly. I enjoyed my visit and the delicious treats. Thank you for the meal.

I had some time until my next appointment, so I decided to visit on a rainy Sunday. There was only one seat available, and I was lucky enough to get it. I ordered Cafe Royale and chocolate, and enjoyed watching the flickering flame after it was lit. The atmosphere in the cafe was calm and pleasant. The coffee was delicious as well. I would like to visit again and take my time next time.

A mysterious café with a quiet atmosphere on the second floor turned into a café space. I ordered a cup of coffee, which was strong and hot with a bitter taste at first, but as it cooled down, the acidity became more pronounced. The coffee had a fresh aroma. The service was polite, and I was able to take a relaxing break in a calm atmosphere.

Near Kuramae Station, there is a small coffee and chocolate shop that specializes in homemade roasted coffee and chocolates. The shop is located in a renovated old house and run by the owner, Mr. Kaburagi, who is particular about the origin of the ingredients used. They offer a quiet space to enjoy their products, including coffee, chocolates, and alcohol, in a relaxed atmosphere. There is also a sister store called "Compass" in Morioka. The location can be a bit tricky to find, so it's recommended to check the map before visiting. The visit was in the afternoon, and the entrance was not very noticeable from the outside. Upon entering, the first floor is dedicated to selling chocolates and coffee beans, while the cafe is located on the second floor. The atmosphere is serene and the staff is attentive. The menu includes various coffee blends, hot chocolates, and alcohol. The coffee "Oriza" was recommended, and it had a rich flavor with a balanced bitterness and acidity. The chocolate "Muku" was also delightful, with a smooth texture and a subtle cocoa flavor. The visit lasted about an hour, and the overall experience was peaceful and enjoyable. After enjoying a cup of coffee, a box of chocolate called "Kakou" was purchased to savor at home. The Madagascar cocoa in the chocolate had a fruity aroma and a lingering cocoa aftertaste. It was a delightful purchase that left a lasting impression.

A very atmospheric restaurant. The photo shows only the hands. The quiet space is perfect for relaxed classical music. The interior has a counter and table seats, creating a soothing atmosphere. The dim lighting adds to the ambiance. It's not a chatty cafe, but a place to quietly enjoy with all your senses. I visited this place after hearing it was truly wonderful, and it did not disappoint. In Kuramae, I saw a bakery with long lines and shops selling parfaits. Seems like a sweets town, huh? I got the chocolate-filled anpokaki and a blend coffee called "Kamosika." The coffee was deep and flavorful. The anpokaki had a rich taste with brandy, a gentle sweetness, smooth chocolate, and a crunchy texture. A hidden gem where you can enjoy high-quality chocolate and coffee in a relaxed setting. A place where you naturally lower your voice and movements, a space to cherish.

2023/2 Revisit☆ Weekend evening revisit. A coffee shop in the area of Shin-Okachimachi and Kuramae. The 1st floor sells chocolates and coffee, while the 2nd floor is a cafe. A precious cafe where you can spend a quiet time. The shop recommends visiting alone or with one other person. Even when visited by two people, most customers seem to be absorbed in their coffee in a tranquil atmosphere without much conversation. It was less crowded than last time, so we were able to relax and enjoy. The Anpogaki chocolate was incredibly delicious!! The sticky texture of the dried persimmon combined with the bitter ganache is outstanding. The hint of liquor is also excellent. It pairs perfectly with the dark roast coffee. It's the kind of dessert you want to savor slowly, bit by bit. Since it's a seasonal limited edition dessert, I hope I can enjoy it again next year. Thank you for the delicious meal~

A friend recommended this place to me, and even from a distance, you could tell it was a cafe. I used Google Maps to find my way there, and when I finally arrived, I understood why. The entrance had a big door, and a hand-drawn sign at the entrance gave a glimpse of what was inside. The place was busy, but I managed to find a seat for one person on the second floor. The first floor had a coffee bean roasting area and a small shop selling chocolates and beans. The second floor was where the cafe was located, along with the restroom. I was welcomed by a staff member who guided me to my seat. The interior was dimly lit, with only a few seats at the counter and a couple of tables. I ordered a deep roasted blend coffee, which was meticulously brewed using Nel drip. The atmosphere was quiet, and there was a note asking customers to keep noise to a minimum. The coffee cup was beautifully designed, and the aroma and taste were excellent. After enjoying my coffee for about 15 minutes, I paid my bill on the first floor, where I also bought some chocolates. Overall, it was a great place to relax and enjoy a nice cup of coffee.

Balentine World also had Ms. Kabunagi. I heard that the Fruit Aroma tablet is the most popular at 1,350 yen. The fruity scent is amazing! It's berry-flavored. I don't eat a lot of chocolate so I'm not very knowledgeable, but I enjoyed it. I would like to visit the store too. It's such a lovely cafe, isn't it~.

A cafe located between Shin-Okachimachi and Kuramae, about 6-7 minutes from either direction but slightly closer from Shin-Okachimachi. I had been curious about this place for a while, and happened to be in Asakusa so I visited around 3 pm on a Saturday. The exterior exudes a classy and sophisticated atmosphere. Inside, I was directed to the second floor. The second floor has counter seats and tables lined up at the back. It had a dim, bar-like ambiance, very quiet with everyone enjoying their own time. I was allowed to take a quick photo of just my dessert. I ordered the seasonal dessert of chocolate-filled anpokaki and a deep-roasted coffee to go with it. The anpokaki had ganache inside and caramel sauce on top. The ganache was not too sweet, with a lovely chocolate aroma, and paired perfectly with the persimmon. This dessert was a big hit for me among recent ones I've tried. The coffee, although usually I prefer light roast, was easy to drink, mild, and very delicious even though it was a deep roast. The atmosphere was calming, and the young and cool master made the experience quite satisfying and relaxing.

Tokyo Metro Asakusa Line, Kuramae Station, about a 10-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Oedo Line, Shingo-machimachi. It is located between Kuramae and Shingo-machimachi stations. When we visited in response to a request for "Kabuki" coffee, the cafe on the second floor was temporarily closed (TT) OMG I was really disappointed... We regained our spirits and bought chocolate and baked goods. Both were really delicious. We vowed to visit again. Thank you for the meal ❤︎

Tokyo Metro Asakusa Line Kuramae Station is about a 10-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Oedo Line Shin-Okachimachi Station. It is located between Kuramae and Shin-Okachimachi stations. Since it is open until 8 pm, we took a taxi from Ueno on this day. The first floor has a roasting and payment counter, and the second floor is a cafe. I didn't notice last time, but there was a no photography sign at the entrance this time, so I refrained from taking photos. I had coffee and chocolate. The elegant and serene space, which exudes the aesthetics of subtraction, makes me feel like I can activate my thoughts. I read a newly purchased book and calmed my mind. On this day, I bought chocolate as a souvenir and went home. The change was neatly arranged with crisp bills, which was a pleasant experience. It was a wonderful time that made me feel uplifted. Thank you ❤️

On Sunday evenings, I always look forward to visiting Kabunoki near Torikoshi Shrine on Saturday evenings. I enjoy drinking delicious coffee while indulging in chocolates, planning for the upcoming week in my notebook, and reading. I love the sense of style and atmosphere of this place, from the single flower in a vase to the scent of the hand soap in the restroom, and even the unique way the change is given back. As soon as you enter the shop, you can see a record player with vinyl records, playing warm music from the speakers. I always appreciate the gesture of serving hot water during the cold season. On this day, I warmed up with a seasonal hot chocolate (Sour Cherry).

On Sunday evenings, I enjoy going solo to KABUKI near Torikoshi Shrine. Here, I drink delicious coffee while flipping through my planner, making plans for the week ahead and reading, which makes me feel happy. I love the sense of style and atmosphere of this place, from the single flower in a vase to the scented hand soap in the restroom, even down to the unique way the change is handed back. As soon as I walked in, I noticed a record player with album covers set up, and the warm sound coming from the speakers was delightful. On this day, I had my favorite mocha shake with chocolate (Kakou) added to it.

On Sunday evenings, I enjoy going to Kaburagi-san near Torikoshi Shrine on Saturday evenings. Here, I drink delicious coffee while relying on chocolate, and plan for Monday while staring at my planner or reading, feeling happy. I love the sense and atmosphere of this place, from the single flower in a vase, to the scent of the hand soap in the restroom, and even the fact that the change given is in coins. As soon as you enter the shop, you see a record player with album covers set up, and the warm sound coming from the speakers was lovely. When you sit down, you always get a glass of water, but in the cold season, you get hot water. This thoughtfulness is so nice. On this day, I warmed up with an Irish coffee.

This is a cafe located between Kuramae and Shin-Okachimachi stations. I had wanted to visit this place since my days of exploring Bean to Bar chocolates. I had bought the owner Kabuki's book, "A Guide to Chocolate," but only recently found out that Kabuki is the owner. I also discovered that it is pronounced "Kabuki" and not "Kaburagi." Around 2 pm, it seems to be a time when counter seats are available, so I was able to enter without waiting, although I felt a bit sorry for the two-person group waiting. #Lucky It was my first time at this cafe, and it had quite a tense atmosphere, making me nervous from the moment I climbed the stairs. When I opened the door on the second floor, it was incredibly quiet. Using a laptop was also prohibited, and many people were reading books or conversing quietly. It was an extremely quiet atmosphere. Personally, I prefer more lively places, but this slow-paced environment was also nice. By around 2:30 pm, all the counter seats were occupied by solo customers. Everyone seemed to be here to savor this leisurely time. On this day, I ordered the Trinidad & Tobago hot chocolate, which was made slowly and calmly behind the counter. It made me realize the importance of enjoying such slow-paced moments every now and then.
