They prepare matcha right on the spot. The atmosphere of the shop is a mix of traditional Japanese and modern. There are many foreign customers, but they also offer matcha that Japanese people can enjoy. The café space is a bit small, but it's good for a quick tea break.

The matcha was delicious. It was rich and they made it with real matcha, which was a new experience and I liked it. The donuts had a matcha flavor similar to a certain donut shop. The interior had tables and chairs, so you can't really relax, but it's a nice spot for a break.

I entered this shop because it was too hot outside. I ordered a matcha latte and rich matcha ice cream, which someone leaving the shop had and looked delicious. They performed the tea ceremony in front of me, so it took quite a while. You can choose the sweetness level, and it seems they sweeten the milk. When mixed, it becomes just right. It's a bit disappointing that there are some tea lumps, but it's delicious. The ice cream is also tasty. The prices are a bit high, but considering it's a tourist area, it's understandable. The taste is good. Rating: 3.06 as of September 2023.

This is a shop where they make matcha right on the spot. You can taste authentic Kyoto matcha here, so I highly recommend visiting. It may take some time because they make each one individually. The matcha tea is delicious, but the donuts and ice cream are also very tasty at the same level. I recommend trying them as a set.

The third stop on our Kyoto stroll was this shop. I ordered a rich matcha latte for 750 yen with matcha ice cream as a topping for 250 yen. I noticed that there were people waiting, and it turned out they were making tea from scratch. A graceful woman was diligently preparing the tea. I felt a bit nervous being watched, but she seemed quite used to it. While watching the process, I didn't get bored and was soon called over. The foam and flavor seem to be different. This is delicious.

#Intense Matcha Affogato#The matcha flavor is rich...!#They prepare each cup of tea freshly, so the matcha aroma is refreshing#However, it may take a bit of time to be served (especially during busy hours)#There are a few bench seats at the back of the shop where you can sit down. The seats are away from the bustling main street, so I was able to relax and take a break☺︎

I visited the shop on Saturday during opening hours. I ordered and paid at the counter. There was seating in the back, but it was crowded with foreign tourists, so I just took a quick photo and got my order to go. I ordered two items: Matcha Latte (600 yen) and Matcha Ice Cream Sandwich (400 yen). The Matcha Latte was made right in front of me, and I could take photos or videos. You can choose the sweetness level and toppings, so it's fun to customize your own Matcha Latte. I asked for mine to be less sweet and it was delicious. The Matcha Ice Cream Sandwich had matcha ice cream and red bean sandwiched in a thin wafer. The ice cream was the type that doesn't melt easily, making it great for eating on the go. The wafer was thin and the matcha ice cream was packed, giving a satisfying feeling. I also wanted to try the matcha donuts that were sold out that day, so I'll definitely come back for them.

Among the tourists and school trip students, we took a break at GOKAGO again (laughs). Matcha ice cream with matcha sauce and even shiratama on top - Matcha affogato! It's so delicious (laughs). It's so heartwarming, isn't it? Give it a try.

Today, I visited a Japanese tea specialty store that opened on the street in front of Kiyomizu Temple. The store is called GOKAGO and it offers a combination of a tea stand and retail shop. The space has a stylish atmosphere. As soon as you enter, you can order food and drinks. They offer drinks like matcha, hojicha, and sencha, as well as food items like affogato, ice cream sandwiches, and donuts. The basic drinks start at 600 yen, with additional options available for an extra charge. They made the tea right in front of me. I tried the matcha latte, which had a fine foam on top. The staff recommended mixing it well to fully enjoy the flavor. There is a relaxing seating area in the back where you can savor your drink. The space is well-ventilated and perfect for a sunny day. The street in front of Kiyomizu Temple is always crowded, so it's nice to have a hidden gem like this café. The staff mentioned that the grand opening is scheduled for mid-June.
