The menu at this izakaya feels like a mix of creative and Western-style dishes that make it hard to choose. Today's lineup included octopus carpaccio, beef cutlet, choy salad, potato and camembert, yakitori. It was my first time trying the beef cutlet, and it was delicious, along with the demiglace sauce. And the best part? It only cost 1320 yen! As always, the cost performance is outstanding, and the efficiency is great too.

The draft beer here is delicious, I find it easy to drink Heineken so I finish it in about three sips, haha. This time, I ordered the "Thank you for your hard work set" which includes one beer, one side dish, and five skewers for 1650 yen! It's cheap! You can choose from a variety of side dishes, but I ordered the potato salad. It's nice that they also give you some potato chips as a bonus!

Teppanyaki is no longer on the menu, but I know they have it. I always order the Bacon Cheese Asparagus because it's a must-have. The assorted yakitori platter, grilled right in front of you by the master on the teppan, looks and smells delicious even before you eat it. It really whets your appetite and goes well with alcohol. The night market-style kushikatsu (5 skewers) has a slightly sweet and crispy coating that is just perfect. The octopus balls are also surprisingly tasty. The plum and wasabi soy sauce are also good condiments. The menu is extensive, but I always end up ordering the same thing I love.

The menu is extensive and the service is fast, so the food comes out quickly. It seems like they have perfect preparation. The family-like atmosphere makes you feel right at home. The grilled skewers are delicious and cooked perfectly on the iron plate. The homemade pickles are also tasty. The mixed rice ball and Chiyora ramen were also delicious. It's the perfect way to end a meal after drinking.

It's been a while since I visited Chiyosan Takobutsu. The master grilled three types of chicken, asparagus, bacon cheese on an iron plate, all delicious. The skewers at the night market were also tasty as always. I always order the garlic marinated in Aomori prefecture. Due to the pandemic, the menu may have slightly decreased, but there is still a wide variety of fish, chicken, beef, and pork dishes available until the end. I appreciate the extensive menu and will definitely visit again.

Located at the end of the street when you come out from Shio-koji Street onto Higashi-oji Street, this cafe-like izakaya offers a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. With counter seats, raised table seating, and a tatami room in the back, the restaurant caters to solo diners as well as groups seamlessly. Despite its unassuming appearance, the place is surprisingly lively with mostly locals as customers. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of dishes including meat and fish prepared in different styles such as raw, grilled, simmered, steamed, and fried. The owner, who wears a bow tie, skillfully prepares the dishes, and the staff, especially the female servers, provide attentive service. Despite being run by a small team of three, the efficiency and quality of service are commendable. The dishes are all delicately seasoned with a refined Kyoto taste, and the drinks, especially the sours, pack a good punch. The overall atmosphere is a mix of Japanese and Western influences, leaning slightly towards the Western side. The finale of the meal, a porridge dish, left a lasting impression reminiscent of a literary mirror scene, showcasing the depth of Kyoto's culinary culture. I was thoroughly impressed and would definitely return to this izakaya next time I visit.

The menu at this restaurant is very extensive, making it hard to decide what to order. They offer a variety of salads, fried dishes, grilled dishes, and even warming options like miso soup and kimchi hot pot in cold weather. This time, I decided to try the soba salad. It was different than I expected, as there was a lot more soba than I thought, but it was surprisingly delicious. I think it had sesame oil in it, which I liked. The restaurant was quite busy that day, so there was a bit of a mix-up with my order of "steak cubes, simmered small potatoes, potato salad, soba salad, and rolled omelette with green onions" - the potato salad took a while to arrive at my table. There were also large groups dining, adding to the lively atmosphere.

Visited on the evening of March 2, 2012 (Friday) around 7:20 pm. The entrance has the kitchen on the right, with a counter seating for 8 people in front of it. On the left side of the entrance, there is a large table where about 6 people can sit. Towards the back on the left, there are two small raised tatami-style seating areas for 4 people each. The restroom is located towards the back on the left side. There is also a private table for 6 people at the far end. The restaurant is run by a couple and a young woman, a total of three people. There were 6 customers when I arrived, and 6 more came in later. I ordered a shochu highball for 525 yen. The menu offers a variety of ramen, soba, and rice dishes, as well as a wide selection of drinks. I was informed that they have always had a wide range of alcohol options, even 26 years ago, with cocktails and shochu available. I ordered a potato salad for 315 yen and a tempura skewer set with 10 skewers for 840 yen. The main dishes are not just tempura, as there is a teppanyaki grill in front of the counter. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with a lot of friendly conversation between the customers and the staff. The prices are slightly higher than average, but that seems to be common for a small, independent restaurant. The place seems to have a lot of regular customers, some of whom have been coming for generations. If you're looking for delicious food, this place is worth a visit.

After leaving the hospital, I walked a couple of bus stops worth of distance for rehabilitation and arrived at a teppanyaki restaurant called "CHIYO" in Inokuma Shotengai. My husband had been curious about this place for a while, and the menu was quite unique. The master of the restaurant had a unique appearance with a bow tie and a dress shirt. "You might feel energized here!" "I feel energized!" "Super energized!" I wasn't sure what kind of dishes would make you feel energized, but it seemed to be spinach-based dishes according to rumors (laughs). We tried dishes like "Enoki Bacon x Bacon Cheese," "Sand Grilled Garlic," "Scallop Avocado Salad," "Chewy Mochi Mochi," "Mino Karaage," and "CHIYO Ramen." It had been a while since I had eaten outside food, especially paired with alcohol, so the flavors felt strong overall, but it was very enjoyable to eat out again. If you visit, be sure to try the "energizing" menu items!

There are not many izakaya (Japanese pub) around Higashiyama Shichijo area. Actually, there are none. When I entered the restaurant, I saw the owner in a white shirt and a bow tie behind the counter, running the place with his wife. At first, I felt a bit hesitant to enter as it seemed like a local place, but the atmosphere inside was very welcoming and cozy. I had a great time with a friend for a long time. I recommend trying the chicken three kinds platter from the menu. They had a wide variety of dishes on the menu, and the daily specials were listed on a whiteboard. They also have private rooms, so it seems like a good place for a family gathering with children.
