I was curious about a nearby restaurant and decided to visit after finishing some errands in the area. When I visited, the restaurant was run by the owner chef and floor staff.
During lunchtime, you can enjoy a glass of wine (red or white) for 350 yen (tax included), which is a great deal considering the generous portion size. I opted for the 1,800 yen course lunch, which included several dishes such as appetizers like oil sardines, tuna, pate, vegetable pickles, cauliflower curry, and caponata.
The oil sardines were my favorite with a gentle flavor. The bread was served generously for two people.
The turnip soup was light but flavorful, showcasing the taste of turnips. The vegetable salad was made from pesticide-free vegetables from a contracted farm, which was a nice touch considering the high prices of vegetables these days.
For the main course, you could choose between meat or fish. My husband chose the pork in tomato sauce stew, which was tender and delicious. I opted for the fish, possibly called "red sea bream," with a clam broth sauce and butter that complemented the fish well. The fish portion was large and satisfying, served with a variety of vegetables like enoki mushrooms, sweet potatoes, and broccoli.
For dessert, there were three options, and I chose iced coffee for my drink. Overall, the 1,800 yen course lunch offered great value for the quality and quantity of food. The owner was friendly and talkative, making the dining experience enjoyable. The menu may vary depending on the day, but if you live nearby, this restaurant seems like a convenient and enjoyable option. Unfortunately, it's too far from Kyoto for me to visit frequently.
