The menu options at Kiyotaro Special, such as monjayaki, yakisoba, okonomiyaki, and teppanyaki, are plentiful and make choosing a dish enjoyable. The okonomiyaki here is special with a variety of toppings like shrimp and pork, making it even more enjoyable. However, my first impression this time was not good. The batter was loose and soft, even the burnt surface was mushy. Perhaps because I came for lunch, I noticed a few chopstick wrappers and a lot of bonito flakes scattered on the floor, which bothered me. Despite there being only three groups of customers at the time, the food took a long time to be served, making the wait a bit difficult. I think it might have been just a one-time thing, so I would like to try it again on a different day.

I came here because I wanted to eat Monjayaki. There aren't many places that are open for lunch from noon... I ordered the Okonomiyaki lunch set, which includes a mini pork okonomiyaki (300 yen), chicken Karaage (300 yen), and salad (250 yen), with the option to add extras for an additional fee. I decided to add the chicken Karaage (plus 300 yen). However, they were out of chicken Karaage... How can they be out of it when they just opened?! They should have told me earlier if they didn't have it (#`ε´#). I had no choice but to go with the mini pork okonomiyaki. When the lunch set arrived, the rice portion was small... The small okonomiyaki was brought in a frying pan, but it was cold... I had to transfer it to the hot plate, but even that was only half hot... I couldn't cook the Monjayaki properly either... The mini pork okonomiyaki was served on a plate! I wanted to eat it on the hot plate while sizzling... The okonomiyaki was small but tasty. However, I don't think I'll be coming back again. Thank you for the meal. (^人^)

Before watching a movie, I had lunch at a restaurant. Since I am a beginner at eating monjayaki, I asked them to make it for me. They made it carefully for me. It was hot because it is cooked on an iron plate, but that's unavoidable. There was a 5% discount for moviegoers, so I asked if I could use my reservation email for the discount, but they said only paper vouchers were accepted. It's just a 5% discount, but I was disappointed that digital vouchers were not allowed. The staff were all efficient and quick.

I visited around 19:1 on a regular day. There were 4 groups of customers before me.
- Kiyotaro Monja for 1230 yen:
- Baby Star was not included, instead there were rice cakes. I wonder if Baby Star is no longer available?
- It wasn't squid legs, but still had a nice chewy texture.
- Octopus was more prominent than squid.
- Shrimp was noticeable before cooking, but shrunk and became less prominent after cooking.
- Couldn't find any scallops, but I think they must have been there somewhere.
- The occasional sweetness of the corn was quite nice.
- The pork was finely chopped and didn't stand out much.
The "Kiyotaro Special Monja for 1380 yen" should have included rice cakes and cheese, but even without the special, rice cakes were included.
- Topping of mentaiko for 250 yen:
- Mentaiko is a must-have topping! Mentaiko is the best!

This is a restaurant called "Momoju" in Osaka, but the name has changed to "Monja" in Kyoto. I was wondering why it's called "Monja" in Kyoto. Despite that, I was recommended by my senior to visit this restaurant. The Monja cooked on a hot iron plate is delicious. It goes well with beer. The staff are attentive and the side menu is also good.

I found a photo while organizing my images, so I'll post a review. (220718) It was my first time visiting this restaurant. I got a discount with a movie ticket stub, so I entered. I ordered tonpei-yaki, but something completely different came out. It wasn't about the service, but I got angry at the taste after a long time (lol). Looking at the photo now, it doesn't look that bad, but when I took a bite, I was like, "What is this?" Probably, it felt like the part-timer made it randomly without much care. The fried chicken was more crispy than actual fried chicken. Looking at Tabelog, okonomiyaki and monjayaki seem to have good reviews, so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I'll console myself by thinking that. If asked if I would go there again... but the movie "The Beatles" was interesting, so I'll raise the rating by 1. Tonpei-yaki set meal 800 yen - 40 yen (5% discount with movie ticket stub) = 760 yen Expensive!

For the past six months, I have been obsessed with okonomiyaki and have been eating it at least three times a week. I usually make it at home, but decided to try eating it at a restaurant this time. I ordered the Kiyotaro special okonomiyaki and mixed yakisoba. The okonomiyaki was filled with pork, seafood, eggs, and various other ingredients, allowing me to enjoy different flavors with each bite. It was incredibly delicious. The pork had chunks of fat (similar to beef fat) which made it so sinful yet melt-in-your-mouth juicy and smooth. Next, I tried the yakisoba. I chose the mixed version, so it was packed with ingredients. The decision to go with mixed was spot on. The chewy thick noodles and the variety of ingredients combined together, creating a different flavor with each bite. I couldn't stop eating, wondering what the next taste sensation would be. I was so engrossed in eating that I ended up feeling more full than I expected. It was just right to share between two people. Although the price difference between homemade and restaurant okonomiyaki is quite significant, the taste at the restaurant is incomparable. It was incredibly delicious.

It is located inside the Aeon Mall in front of Kyoto Station. Despite being in front of the station, it is a huge Aeon Mall. This restaurant is not that big in size. I had the pork okonomiyaki. It was decent for the price. Yeah, it's average. However, since it's okonomiyaki, it takes a bit of time to come. Also, the staff's coordination is not that great. If you can move around in front of the station, maybe there are other options.

After watching a movie, I went to this restaurant with a friend. We ordered okonomiyaki, yakisoba, teppanyaki, and speedy menu options. We also tried the classic monjayaki, seasonal monjayaki, and pork yakisoba. The pork yakisoba was especially delicious! There were about 10 seasonal menu options to choose from, so we were quite satisfied. Since there were also customers dining alone, I thought it would be a good place to go when you feel like eating alone.

One of the few places in Kyoto where you can eat Monjayaki.

This is a fluffy-style okonomiyaki. Personally, I prefer the high-density type with lots of cabbage, so this one didn't quite hit the mark for me. The "choi-nomi" set includes okonomiyaki, karaage, and draft beer for 1380 yen, which is a good deal. The karaage was delicious.

Grilled dishes, monjayaki, and okonomiyaki all lacked distinctive features. The staff were friendly.

I have been to the Namba branch, but the Kyoto branch has poor customer service and the taste of their Monjayaki is not as good as other stores. I think they should undergo retraining.

I suddenly had a craving for monjayaki, so I looked up a restaurant and went there! There were various types of monjayaki, such as plum monja, and I couldn't decide what to choose. Eventually, I played it safe and went with the classic "momojuu monja." The monja is cooked right in front of you on a hot plate by the staff, so all you have to do is wait for it to be ready! I enjoyed eating it little by little, but it was so delicious that I finished it in no time and ended up ordering another serving!笑

This is a okonomiyaki restaurant located in the Aeon Mall in front of Kyoto Station. The main store seems to be in Nagai. We decided to visit without a reservation for a casual gathering around 7pm on a weekday, and the restaurant was about 20% full. According to information from the main store, the recommended dish is Monjayaki. Although it originates from Osaka, it's a bit different. We ordered the Monjayaki with mentaiko and mochi (¥1000), Gyusuji-dama (¥900), and a large serving of yakisoba (¥700 + ¥250). The Monjayaki with mentaiko and mochi is cooked by the staff right in front of you on a hot plate. It follows the Tsukishima style of creating a levee. However, the seasonings are pre-mixed in the kitchen, so you can't adjust the taste by adding soy sauce or sauce on the hot plate. They also sprinkle fish powder and seaweed on top at the end. It's a bit of a unique Monjayaki. The authentic Osaka-style okonomiyaki is cooked in the kitchen and brought to you on the hot plate. The Osaka-style okonomiyaki was delicious with a fluffy texture. The yakisoba had thick noodles, which was good, but I prefer it a bit less moist. Honestly, I thought it might be fun to cook it ourselves since we had a foreigner with us, but it's also recommended for those who are not familiar with Monjayaki.

We had lunch at a restaurant near Kyoto Station in Aeon Mall with 8 people. The restaurant was small but cozy. Momozjuu is known for their "monja-yaki", but only one person in our group ordered it. The rest of us ordered okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and other dishes. The food took a long time to come out. The monja-yaki portion was small, with thin batter and few ingredients, which was a bit surprising. The portions of okonomiyaki and yakisoba were also not very big. The taste was average. Overall, we were a bit disappointed with the slow service and the average food quality.

Dinner at "Momoju" in Aeon Mall near Kyoto Station♪ The restaurant is located on the first floor, with the entrance from outside the Aeon building. Each table has a teppan grill where you can enjoy freshly cooked teppanyaki dishes. ☆Okonomiyaki Seafood Ball (1050 yen) It may look easy to finish at first glance, but it's actually quite filling. It is finished with a sweet sauce, and you can add a spicy sauce according to your preference. ☆Mixed Yakisoba (1050 yen) I upgraded to a large portion for an extra 200 yen. The yakisoba noodles are actually thin like yakisoba, with a generous amount of shrimp, pork, octopus, cabbage, and other ingredients. The large portion comes with two servings of noodles. ☆Corn Tea (350 yen) Surprisingly, the corn tea has a strong corn flavor. I've never had corn tea like this before! It's delicious! ☆Oolong Tea (350 yen) The interior of the restaurant has a modern Japanese atmosphere with spacious seating, and they also offer coat check service. The staff are friendly and the ambiance is comfortable.
