While listening to the crackling, heavy music on vinyl records, I visited a cozy cafe on a Saturday afternoon around 2 PM. The seats were mostly empty, with just a few solo customers. From 3 PM, there was a regular concert, followed by a variety of classical music playing one after another. The menu consisted of only drinks. Whether it was the atmosphere of the cafe or not, my glass was still full even after 2 hours of being there. It was a comfortable cafe where everyone, including myself, could relax and enjoy their time leisurely.

Shibuya Hyakken-ten is rumored to be undergoing redevelopment... I'm not sure if it's true or not, but I heard such rumors. I revisited the place on my way home from work. It was hot and humid outside due to the typhoon aftermath. The Kostelanetz-style Swan Lake was playing at that moment. I enjoyed an iced milk tea while listening to the music that was popular when this café was first opened. The passage of time may be inevitable, but I hope this place will remain for as long as possible. Thank you for the meal.

As a lover of classical music, I would definitely recommend visiting this famous music cafe. It strictly enforces rules against talking and taking photos to ensure a full enjoyment of classical music. I casually took a seat at an available table, but if you want to fully appreciate the sound while spending time there, I highly recommend choosing your seat carefully. I truly hope that such historic establishments continue to thrive.

The redevelopment in front of the station has settled down, and now there are talks of development in the corner of the Lion. The conclusion was that the Shibuya ward's plan is to improve the roads and infrastructure in the area, without relocating or demolishing famous shops like the Lion. I decided to visit the Lion before it changes, as I heard that without this push, it would have been difficult to visit due to the crowds in Shibuya. I was drawn to a famous music cafe in Ogikubo recently, so I decided to visit the Lion. As I turned off from Dogenzaka, I entered a different world. I could see a green sign in the distance, and my excitement grew. Behind the heavy wooden door was a completely different space. Unfortunately, photos were not allowed inside. To describe it in words... it was the most massive speaker I've ever seen, facing rows of seats (like the old Shinkansen seats with white cloth covering the headrest) lined up closely. The store was dimly lit with loud music. I initially sat on the first floor, but I found the sound better on the second floor, so I asked to change seats. Luckily, the front row near the speaker was vacant, so I sat there. I ordered a lemon squash and a matcha float, which were served without gum syrup, a nice touch. They hold a "concert" every day at 3 pm and 7 pm, playing different songs. Even though I don't know much about audio, I became captivated by the sensation of being immersed in the sound.

On July 20, 2023✎︎__________Matcha Ice Cream/720✎︎__________ A cafe in Shibuya Dōgenzaka where you can enjoy music♡ The exterior is in an old building, making you forget you are in Shibuya! Once inside, you are greeted with a quiet space where classical music from the surround sound system drowns out the noise of Shibuya. The interior is dimly lit and photography is not allowed! The seats are arranged facing the sound system. Each person enjoys their own time while listening to music! This place is perfect for reading a book rather than using a smartphone♡ It was too hot to plan for the next place, so I stopped by and had a fulfilling time! The staff speak softly so as not to disturb the music (´ω`) They mentioned that taking photos of drinks is fine as long as there is no sound! I may not understand classical music well, but I could relax and lose track of time. The matcha ice cream I had was perfect for a hot day! It was delicious♡ I wish I could have spent more time there if I had the chance!! Thank you for the meal♡

When you open the door, you are greeted with a faint smell of cigarettes. At first, I wondered if smoking was allowed, but it seems to be a non-smoking establishment. The interior of the restaurant exudes a sense of a bygone era, almost like a cultural heritage site. Towards the back of the shop, there is a large and impressive antique speaker playing classical music loudly. All the seats face towards the speaker, and the second-floor seating allows you to look down at the speaker on the first floor like a theater. As soon as I entered, the staff noticed me and directed me to a seat of my choice, bringing me the menu and water promptly. Due to the old building, the air conditioning doesn't seem to work well, making it somewhat humid inside. I decided to order a coffee float, and to my surprise, the coffee was delicious! The ice cream was probably Lady Borden brand, which paired well with the coffee. I didn't have high expectations for the taste, considering it was more of a music hall than a cafe, but it turned out to be quite good. When you come here, you can just sit back and enjoy the rich music without needing to do anything else. I don't know much about classical music, but I found myself getting lost in the sounds, including the crackling noise from the records.

When I time-traveled, I found a charming old-fashioned cafe where smoking was allowed, giving it a slightly tobacco-scented atmosphere. I didn't know anything about opera, but enjoying a cup of coffee while listening to music was wonderful. No photos allowed, no talking allowed, making it a great place to relax alone.✨

The atmosphere of the building is great. There are seating areas on the second floor and first floor. It's a bit disappointing that they don't have cakes or sweets, but I can understand that it's not necessary for the purpose of listening to music. The Egg Milk (hot) drink was sweet and comforting, a hit for me. At 3 o'clock and 7 o'clock (slightly ahead of schedule), the staff played music that was not requested, but the sound quality was clearly impressive even to someone like me who is not knowledgeable about sound. It's great to be able to enjoy such high-quality sound at this price, and listen to only what you want to hear. Of course, talking is strictly prohibited. The restroom is traditional Japanese style, but that's not a negative. Also, the location is currently in a love hotel district, but it used to be a geisha district. I think this is a cultural heritage that should be preserved for a long time.

My favorite person's favorite place. I never expected to find such a lovely shop in Shibuya, on Dōgenzaka of all places... The sign reads "No photography/talking allowed inside," so I'll describe it instead. The atmosphere inside is very calming, with three floors to explore. I chose a seat at the edge of the second floor, reminiscent of an old train with its warm wooden decor. The powerful speakers in front of me added to the charm. It's a shame you can't take photos, as it's truly a wonderful spot. There seems to be one staff member on each floor, ready to bring you a menu if you ask. (They also offer a music menu that changes every two weeks, which is also quite stylish...) I sipped my coffee, listened to the powerful orchestra playing, and read a book. (I don't usually listen to orchestras, but it was a nice change of pace.) It felt like true luxury, and after savoring the experience, I left Shibuya's bustling streets behind.

Sitting in a cafe facing a stereo sound system, I found the experience of listening to records to be truly new, despite it being an old medium. While I initially thought the drinks were secondary, the lemon squash I ordered was surprisingly gentle and nostalgic in flavor. I recommend this place for those who want to enjoy classical music at a leisurely pace.

The prohibition on taking photos inside the store led to posting about the exterior and the weather on the day of the visit. Not only were photos and chatting rejected, but the lighting was also dim, making it clear that they preferred you not to strain your eyes too much. The cold and beautiful female staff's expressionless faces seemed to match this message. I don't know much about classical music, but the quality of the experience spoke for itself, allowing me to forget about time and my own existence for a wonderful afternoon. As I was leaving the store, a male staff member in a checkered shirt resembling Ryunosuke Kamiki arrived for his shift. This is a place that once you visit, you won't forget.

I finally visited a classical cafe that I had been curious about for a while. The seating is in a school-style facing the speakers. Everyone is quietly enjoying the famous music. The staff introduces the songs over the microphone, creating a nice atmosphere. You can spend a luxurious and relaxing time here!

Saturday 15:15. You can choose your favorite seat. There were two seats at the table with speakers facing, so I thought it might be a shared seat for two people like a counter, but the front was empty so I sat there. I looked up at the speaker and realized there was also a 2nd floor! The staff were young, which was a bit surprising, but they were very polite. I couldn't take pictures because it said no photos allowed, but I really liked the old wooden feel of the interior. It used to allow smoking, but now it's non-smoking, which seemed to have no lingering smell. The speakers in front were very powerful. I was impressed that students were studying in such a lively environment. The coffee had a bitter taste that I liked on the first sip. As it cooled a bit, I also tasted acidity, so I think it's a well-balanced blend of bitterness and acidity. I'm not an expert, so I apologize if I'm wrong. This was my destination, but I happened to find Murugi as well, so I'll come back again.

I really love this store... I have found another place I want to visit again. The store has wonderful surround sound speakers, chandeliers, old-fashioned stoves, a large collection of records and CDs, and chairs that are incredibly comfortable to sit in. There are no people talking in the store, and the staff are polite but not overly friendly. Taking photos inside the store is not allowed, but the interior is quite lovely. Most of the chairs are facing the speakers, and the store is designed for people to come alone. The only voices you hear are occasional announcements introducing music. It's best to go alone. I had been curious about it for a while, but I should have come sooner...

【Store Name】Famous Song Cafe Lion 【Location】6 minutes walk from Keio Inokashira Line/JR Line/Shibuya Station 【Budget】Up to 1000 yen 【Crowded】Not crowded around 1 pm on weekdays 【Menu】 - Iced coffee for about 670 yen per person 【Overview】 The shop is located in a corner of the road where only gourmet famous shops are lined up. From the appearance, it exudes an atmosphere that is not ordinary, as if you have slipped back in time to the Showa era. 【Impression】 The interior of the shop is a mysterious world that I have never seen or felt before. It is an atmosphere that you would not feel if you were living a normal life in Japan. The old-fashioned huge sound equipment is set up, playing famous songs on a record player. The seats are arranged like a movie theater, with tables and sofa seats placed together, all facing forward to enjoy the music. I don't know much about classical music, but each time the record changes, the staff explains the song title, and then a different record starts playing. It was my first time, and I was more excited by the otherworldly feeling than relaxed, but I also enjoyed delicious coffee. Recommended for those who want to experience classical music or travel back to the Showa era. Thank you for the meal! 【Summary】 - Classical music playing from a huge sound system! - Atmosphere like traveling back to the Showa era! - Sofa seats are a plus! 【SNS】 I also post gourmet information on social media, so please follow me if you're interested. I recently had some time to visit cafes, and happened to be near a famous one, so I decided to stop by! Unfortunately, photos were not allowed inside the cafe, so I can't show you much, but it is a well-known retro music cafe established in the first year of the Showa era. You have to experience it yourself to understand its unique atmosphere, with classical music playing through the sound system that reaches up to the second floor, and they even provide explanations about the songs. This is not a place to just drop by quickly, but to fully immerse yourself in. I'll be back for another visit!

After enjoying a delightful lunch, I was drawn to the unique atmosphere of the famous music cafe, Lion, located nearby. Established before the war, in the first year of the Showa era, the cafe exudes a nostalgic charm. The interior, with its powerful speakers playing classical music, feels like a time warp experience. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside, so I couldn't capture the moment, but the ambiance is truly captivating.

This is the famous music cafe Lion in Shibuya. Established in 1926, it is located in the love hotel district of Dogenzaka. It exudes a sense of the Showa era from its appearance. Photography is not allowed, making it a sanctuary for music and relaxation. However, anyone can listen to classical music here, giving it a sense of accessibility to all. The interior is dimly lit, with walls lined with shelves of records (5,000 pieces) and stereo speakers!!! (claimed to be the best in the capital city). The speakers were designed by Pioneer engineers in 1950 specifically for this cafe, and have even been featured in American audio magazines. Coffee is priced at 600 yen (400 yen for the second cup), allowing you to enjoy classical music in a powerful stereo setting while immersing yourself in a great atmosphere. It's truly a wonderful place. No flash or camera shutter sounds are allowed here. The coffee was rich and deeply roasted, providing a delightful cup. I will definitely come back to relax and enjoy the music again. Thank you for the experience.
