After the meeting, we had a meal and enjoyed some amazing Japanese cuisine. The dishes were elegant and delicate, showcasing a wonderful blend of flavors. The salmon and cod in Saikyo-yaki style were particularly delicious, with a unique texture from the mochi-like rice grains. The simmered Kyoto vegetables were also a standout, cooked to perfection in a delicious broth. Despite the small portions, the meal was quite filling. Dining in Gion for the third time in my life, I wish I could go back more often, but with so many other types of cuisine to try, it's hard to find the time.

Reservation site "【Maiko Course】9 dishes including conger eel or conger, steamed natural flounder in a pot, seasonal stick sushi" originally priced at 9,116 yen is now available at a special price of 4,980 yen. The presentation of the dishes on beautiful plates and the quality of the ingredients gave an impression that matched the price. Although I did not take a photo of the drink menu, there was a mention of sparkling wines such as Fresine Cordon Negro for 5,000 yen and Chandon Cordon Rouge for 90,000 yen. Another review mentioned champagne and only Chandon Rouge, so I searched for Domaine Chandon Cordon Rouge but could not find any information, indicating a possible mistake in the menu description. It would be appreciated if this could be corrected. The wine was poured into a glass, but the bottle was not introduced. After being served, the bottle was placed far away. Alcohol cost percentages vary by establishment, but here it seems that drink orders are necessary and the cost percentage is likely set low.

The other day was my son's graduation ceremony. His school allows casual dress, so almost everyone wore traditional Japanese clothing for the ceremony. They all looked very elegant ✨ After the ceremony, I celebrated with my mom friends in Gion with a toast.. I was always worried because my son never studied, but somehow he managed to graduate. He didn't attend the farewell party, instead he went out for yakiniku with his friends and stayed overnight at a hotel in Kyoto. Meanwhile, us moms decorated the hotel room, brought sparkling wine, set up a cake with fruits, and prepared for the second party. The moms are having more fun than the kids. We went to Gion for a delicious meal at a recommended restaurant by our friends, Gion Eguchi. The dishes with delicious broth were amazing. When the basic broth is good, everything you eat is guaranteed to be delicious ❣️ Even though it's March, the steamed dish that came out was with conger eel and dancing mushrooms. This is the best, the aroma of matsutake is good, but the taste of dancing mushrooms is delicious.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I was planning to go see the autumn leaves and light-up in Kyoto, so I was looking for a place in Gion where I could eat Kyoto kaiseki in a private room. I was able to make a reservation at a discounted price using the website called "Ikyu." The entrance is a bit hard to find, but there was a light outside with the name "Eguchi" written on it. We were seated in a tatami room right by the entrance, and even though there were four of us, we had plenty of space. The menu at the time of reservation mentioned starting with an appetizer, but since there was crab from Hyogo Prefecture, we started with that. It made us feel very luxurious and happy. The matsutake mushroom and conger eel steamed in a pot was delicious without any unnecessary ingredients. I thought this restaurant had great value for money. I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The presentation was lovely, and the speed between dishes was just right, allowing us to enjoy a pleasant dining experience from start to finish. The sashimi was fresh, and the hot dishes were served hot, showing attention to detail in each dish. The service was excellent, and the staff made us feel welcome until the end. It was a wonderful restaurant with great reviews online and was fully booked. It was a memorable experience in Kyoto.

Gion's small restaurant. The location is a bit hard to find, but there is a light outside the alley with the name "Gion Eguchi". As you go through the narrow entrance, you will find the restaurant. Arriving at 6:30, I was probably the first customer, so I could choose between sitting at the counter or one of the two tables. I opted for a table. I started with a draft beer. The meal started with six appetizers, including clams, salmon roe, and pickled vegetables. Next was a blowfish salad, a unique texture that impressed me. Steamed flounder and mushrooms in a pot, with vinegar citrus to pour over it. Absolutely delicious. Sashimi included Thai snapper, amberjack, tuna toro, and bigfin reef squid. Perfect textures. Salmon and yellowtail marinated in miso paste. A truly exquisite dish. Steamed turnip with shrimp and conger eel, including bamboo shoots and carrots. A classic Kyoto dish, delicious and comforting. Turnip steamed buns, a melt-in-your-mouth delight. The surprise was the sushi, rolls and sea bream sushi. Dessert was yuzu sherbet and apple compote. I enjoyed Nagano's Masumi sake, light and perfect with the meal. A casual atmosphere with high-quality cuisine. Truly a Gion gem.

I visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from an acquaintance. The course meals were very satisfying, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for Kyoto. I was impressed by the head chef who not only cooked but also paid close attention to each table and counter, ensuring that drinks and dishes were served at the right time and even guiding customers to the restroom or directing staff for the bill. If I am in the Gion area again, I would definitely like to visit this restaurant.

When making a reservation, I was considering ordering a course menu, but since I didn't know the preferences of my companion, I consulted with them and they kindly agreed to do half course. They served us appetizers, steamed dish, sashimi as part of the course, and then we ordered a few dishes a la carte. Finally, they prepared pickled rolls and sea bream sushi for us. Everything was delicious. However, as mentioned in other reviews, I was a little concerned about the head chef scolding his apprentice. We were seated at a table, but I noticed it a couple of times. It might be more noticeable at the counter, but the food was delicious and they even accommodated our requests, so I would like to visit this place again.

The friendly chef serves course meals. As mentioned by others, he often scolds his apprentices. At first, it was a bit uncomfortable, but now it has become a kind of tradition. The food is delicious but not outstanding. Prices are average. If you're bothered by the chef scolding his apprentices, it's better to choose a table seat. The service speed is moderate and the drinks are satisfying.

In a narrow alleyway typical of Gion, there was an entrance that looked like a regular front door. I felt a bit anxious entering, but I had chosen this restaurant based on word of mouth and it turned out to be great. Various dishes came out little by little, and my elderly parents especially seemed to enjoy it. The flavors were typical of Kyoto, not too light or too strong, just right. We had dishes like small turtle hot pot, steamed turnip, and mackerel sushi, a total of 9 dishes for a little over 8000 yen, which I thought was excellent value considering the location in Gion. The young female staff was very kind and attentive, quickly assisting my elderly mother to the restroom and providing great service. I later heard that the owner had trained at Kyotei, which explained why despite being tucked away in a hidden location, the restaurant was full of customers, including many locals.

Gion Eguchi in Kyoto is a great place to eat because the food is delicious and reasonably priced. I often visit this restaurant because of that. They have a counter with about 8 seats, two table seats, and one private tatami room, so you can go alone or with friends to enjoy a hot pot. All the dishes are tasty, but what stood out to me was the grilled dishes. The grilled miso-marinated medai was so flavorful and rich in fat, it was delicious. The steamed dobinmushi I had that day was also very tasty. The aroma of matsutake mushrooms and the light seasoning made the broth gentle on the body. Also, even though summer is almost over, the hamo shabu-shabu hot pot is highly recommended. The chef has over 10 years of experience at Kitcho, so his skills are solid, and he is also friendly and funny. This is a restaurant that locals can enjoy regularly, and tourists can experience the essence of Kyoto cuisine, so I highly recommend stopping by.

I decided to come to this restaurant with a friend I haven't seen in a long time for a trip, as it seemed like we could get something good at a reasonable price. We turned off the main street and the atmosphere with the lights and alleyways got us excited. As soon as we entered, there was a curtain for the restroom, and it seemed like there were private rooms in the back. To the right was a counter with about 7 seats, and to the left were 2 tables. Other than a torn shoji screen, the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. There was less appetizer than I had hoped for, as I love sweetfish. I was also looking forward to the Dutch stew, but it was not included in the course. The lack of explanation was a bit disappointing. The head chef seemed to be scolding the staff in a loud voice, which made me feel uncomfortable. He even talked about money with other customers (who didn't seem like regulars). When the female staff brought us tea, she seemed busy but it didn't take much time to serve each of us. Despite the high ratings on food review websites, my expectations may have been too high for a reasonably priced meal in Kyoto. The sashimi of sea bream was delicious though.

I met the owner of the restaurant twice and got to know the place. I tried the turtle course, and the turtle broth was especially delicious. The hot pot and porridge were well-made. The cold sake I had paired perfectly with the meal, and I left feeling very satisfied. My companion was also very pleased. The staff seemed a bit awkward, but I have no complaints about the taste or pricing. The owner was friendly, and I plan to visit again. Next time, I want to try the seasonal dishes. The elegant and refined cuisine, polished at Kiccho, was excellent.

This was my first time in Gion. My first experience at a traditional Japanese restaurant. Both my companion and I were a bit nervous, but it turned out to be a lovely place with a great atmosphere. The cost performance was much cheaper compared to other restaurants, and we were a bit unsure about the quality, but it turned out to be incredibly delicious. Is Kyoto known for having such high-level cuisine? We were surprised by how delicious it was, as Tokyo residents. The staff were friendly to tourists, and the owner even personally saw us off at the exit. Both the food and the staff exuded kindness. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Kyoto for the first time or experiencing Gion for the first time. Kyoto is amazing! Part 2
