Visited again in October 2014. I arrived after 2 pm, so I didn't have the lunch menu and instead tried the Vanilla Caramel French Toast for 700 yen. The bread was thickly sliced, so one plate was quite filling. I thought it would be too sweet with caramel, but it was actually not too sweet and very delicious. The topping of vanilla ice cream had a sticky texture like Turkish ice cream, and the abundance of chopped almonds sprinkled on top was great. Also, there was plenty of whipped cream. I thought I should try the non-sweet French toast next time. As mentioned by others, the second floor is more relaxing and has a nice atmosphere compared to the first floor. Thank you for the meal.
Visited again in October 2014 for the third time. I wanted to have lunch, so I managed to slip in just before 2 pm. As I thought the second floor was more relaxing, I went there again on this day. I was aiming for the non-sweet French toast, but the lunch special was a Doria, so I hesitated for a moment (laughs). However, in the end, I ordered the Bacon and Cheese French Toast lunch that I had been curious about. The French toast lunch for 850 yen included two side dishes (green bean sesame salad, bean sprout and yuba vinegar dish?), salad, and a drink. Having salad and side dishes along with the bread is appreciated as it's not just carbohydrates. As for the main French toast, the bread was similar in size to the sweet one and quite thickly sliced. The fluffy French toast was topped with bacon and cheese (crispy and delicious), mayonnaise, and parsley. I had never eaten a non-sweet French toast before, but it was surprisingly delicious, overturning the common notion that French toast equals dessert. Although it was said to be non-sweet, there seemed to be a hint of honey-like sweetness. However, honey and cheese go well together, and a little sweetness as a hidden flavor actually made it more delicious, I thought. It was gone in no time. I definitely want to visit again for the French toast.
First visit in April 2014. This cafe is located in Kawaramachi Matsubara. I went for lunch on a weekday. After 12 pm, it quickly filled up with nearby office ladies. There was a second-floor seating area, but I chose to sit on the first floor. The interior was bright and sunny, giving a homely atmosphere run by a family. I ordered the Popolo Curry Lunch. Besides curry, they had a daily special lunch and French toast lunch. The prices were in the 800 yen range, with an additional 100 yen for coffee. Maybe because it wasn't crowded yet, the food came out quickly. The set included curry, two side dishes (pumpkin stew, spinach and mushroom salad), salad, and a drink. It was nice to have plenty of vegetables. The main curry was European-style and slightly spicy, but not just spicy, it had a fruity taste and seemed to be an original spice blend, quite delicious. The curry with raisins was tasty, but the non-sweet French toast lunch also looked delicious. And the baked cheesecake too (laughs). Thank you for the meal.
