After 3 o'clock, I found a cafe right in front of the subway Higashiyama Station because I was a little hungry. The sign said they only offer takeout at this time, but I mustered up the courage to ask if I could come in. The chef, who had a very nice vibe, kindly led us to the second floor, even though they were closed for the day. I felt a bit bad, but seeing all the flower art inside made me excited! Since I had dinner planned, we ordered one lunch set and three soups to share. The soups had a very gentle flavor, and the quiche was the best I've ever had! The spaghetti had the most beautiful presentation! They mentioned they will be closed for a private event tomorrow. I'll definitely come back when I'm nearby again! I want to try their parfait next time!

Strawberry Thief ~ *Kyoto Higashiyama*. *☼*―――――*☼*―――――.
#SuiHigashiyama*. *☼*―――――*☼*―――――.
A parfait that bird and strawberry lovers will adore. A friend found it and we went to try it out.
Inspired by William Morris' work "Strawberry Thief", this parfait includes strawberry sauce, strawberry ice cream, strawberry cream, strawberry rose jelly, nuts, blue jelly, custard pie, kiwi, fruits, and a bird-shaped cookie. The cookie tastes like a scone and the top strawberry is beautifully sliced. The white chocolate with cute patterns is a nice touch, matching the artwork. The color scheme is also similar and it was delicious!
The staff were very friendly as well. Thank you for the meal♪✽・:..。o¢o。..:・✽・:..。o¢o。..:・✽・:..。o¢o。..:・

Visited on November 5, 2022 (Saturday) for a tea break. Located in Bunkicho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City. Entered the restaurant at 4:20 PM. There were 3 or 4 groups of customers already present. I was guided to a private room on the 2nd floor. The room had tatami flooring but was decorated with a Western-style sofa and furnishings. Ordered the "Kyoto Roasted Green Tea (Hojicha): 600 yen". It was served 15 minutes later. The tea had a refined taste and was presented beautifully. The interior of the restaurant is a stylish cafe renovated from an old Japanese house. The high ceiling and open atmosphere are inviting. The historical beams add a nice touch to the ambiance. The lighting fixtures are stylish. The seating includes 4-person tables, 2-person tables, and traditional tatami seating. There was one female staff member in the dining area who provided very polite and attentive service. The service was excellent. The restaurant is completely non-smoking, which is appreciated.

I had a meeting in Higashiyama and I had been eyeing this sweets place for a while. I went there with some old guys. I thought we would just have coffee, but everyone ordered parfaits. The place is known for its parfaits and taking photos with them. The parfait I had was melon-flavored and green-themed. They change the flavors seasonally. It was a great time at the cafe in the traditional townhouse. It was delicious!

Scones and tea (Lady London)
The scones were served with maple syrup and whipped cream. The scones themselves were on the smaller side, with two included. They were very tasty, with a crispy outer layer and moist inside. They have become my favorite scones. It was a shame that they didn't have clotted cream, but the whipped cream here was of good quality and generously served, so I was satisfied. The maple syrup also tasted better than what you can find in stores. The tea was served in a pot, with enough for two cups in a cup. Lady London recommended adding milk, and it was delicious. The tea salon on the second floor had a unique atmosphere, a mix of a Protestant church and a Western-style building from the Taisho era. It was a relaxing place, but the noise from downstairs and the creaking when moving around were a bit distracting. Nevertheless, I would come back here for the scones.

I went to a place that offers parfaits inspired by art. The themes and paintings change depending on the season. I ordered the parfait with red tea. It cost around 1400 yen, but it was quite small and not very delicious. The red tea didn't taste like it was worth 800 yen, it was similar to Lipton's black tea.

A new cafe themed around art that has opened along Sanjo Street. It is housed in a renovated machiya with a Showa retro-modern interior. The cafe space is divided into two rooms accessed by narrow and steep stairs typical of machiya. The rooms feature wooden-framed stained glass windows and antique-style furniture, creating a time-traveling atmosphere. In spring, the theme is Monet, with an afternoon tea set available by reservation. However, individual items seem to better capture the painting's atmosphere based on their Instagram photos. Unfortunately, the popular "Water Lilies" blancmange with white wine jelly is already sold out. Instead, there is a "Sunrise Impression" parfait for 1400 yen, served with a mini framed painting. It is fun to compare the painting with the dessert while enjoying it. The sun is represented by blood orange sorbet, the candy work depicts a sunrise, and the shortbread represents a group of factories. The base includes orange, banana, chocolate cookies, and whipped cream. The sunrise over the sea is portrayed with mango and raspberry jelly. You can adjust the sweetness with caramel sauce poured on top. The quality ingredients ensure you won't get tired of it until the last bite. In summer, the theme will be Van Gogh, featuring "Sunflowers" and "Starry Night." The sweets are sure to be vibrant and beautifully crafted.

The renovated townhouse is two stories high with a charming atmosphere. The interior is filled with music from the Impressionist era, such as Debussy, who was active at the same time as Monet. The small cups on the tables evoke a world inspired by Monet's painting "Water Lilies." I ordered a parfait inspired by the painting "Sunrise." It was beautiful and came with the image of the sunrise painting. The honey-soaked oranges were delicious, the whipped cream was light and creamy, the cookies inside were crispy, and there was a hint of bitterness midway through before finishing with a berry sauce. I used to not like parfaits because they were often too sweet, but honestly, this might be the best parfait I've ever had. The Earl Grey iced tea was also very tasty. Monet's exhibition is until June, so I'd love to visit again if the timing works out. Looking forward to the Van Gogh exhibition starting in July. Parfait costs 1400 yen, and adding a drink set is an extra 300 yen.

An art cafe located along Sanjo Street near Higashiyama Station in Kyoto, offering sweets and dishes inspired by art pieces. It opened in April 2021 and is housed in a renovated Kyoto townhouse with a traditional Japanese gate. The approach to the entrance is long with cobblestones, plants, and flowers. Inside, the decor is a mix of retro Western style with antique furniture and stylish lighting. Visited with a friend on a holiday at 3 pm. We ordered and shared the following: - Orange and Caramel Parfait x2 (¥1400 each) - Tea "Monet's Rose Garden" (¥800) The Orange and Caramel Parfait is inspired by Claude Monet's "Impression, Sunrise" painting, with elements representing the sun, sunset, and reflection on water. It was delicious with ice cream, orange, cream, crumble, sponge cake, and raspberry sauce topped with caramel. The "Monet's Rose Garden" tea is the cafe's original blend of Ceylon tea with rose petals and raspberry leaves. It was a delightful experience enjoying the fragrant tea in the elegant ambiance of the Western-style interior. Thank you for the delicious experience!

The atmosphere was stylish and calm, with music that evoked a European feel, which was lovely. The food was delicious (although the portions felt slightly small). The interior was somewhat small, so it's best to go with 1-2 people.
