In August 2018, a restaurant called "Sakaba Lemon" opened in the Kawaramachi area of Kyoto. As the name suggests, the specialty of this restaurant is "lemon"! The chef, who loves lemons, has created lemon dishes that go well with alcohol. The restaurant has become popular, especially among young women, due to its affordable prices and refreshing dishes. Every time I passed by the restaurant, I tried to go in if there was an empty seat, but it was always full. I finally managed to enter after several attempts! The restaurant is located about a 5-minute walk from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station. It is situated on a side street off the Nishiki Market street, with a cute yellow lemon sign as a landmark. The inside of the restaurant is lively and bustling with customers, mostly young people. The drink menu is all about lemons, with a variety of lemon sours such as plain, salted, honey, Kirin draft, and a self-service option. The food menu also features dishes with lemons, including the popular "Lemon Mapo Tofu," lemon hot and sour soup, lemon pizza, and lemon tofu. Of course, they also offer typical items like prosciutto and fried foods, but the lemon dishes are a must-try! I ordered a normal lemon sour, lemon tofu, lemon mapo tofu, and crab cream croquette with lemon tartar sauce. The lemon sour was refreshing with a strong lemon flavor. The lemon tofu had a striking presentation with lemon slices and grated daikon radish on top, but the sauce was a bit oily. The lemon mapo tofu was delicious with a perfect balance of spicy and sour flavors. The crab cream croquette was crispy on the outside and filled with creamy crab filling, complemented by the refreshing lemon tartar sauce. Overall, the lemon dishes were unique and interesting, even though the taste wasn't exceptional. The concept of the restaurant is great, the staff is energetic, and the lively atmosphere inside guarantees a fun dining experience!
