(February 2010 revisit) On February 22nd, which is a palindrome date, there are various special offers available! Drinks are all priced at 222 yen, the bill is 22% off, and there are 22 yen side dishes available. It's so lucky to be able to visit on a day like this! Since we are sharing dishes between two people, sometimes the service can be a bit slow, but let's be patient.
Some new delicious dishes I enjoyed this time were:
- Beef tendon and leek rice with ankake sauce: The rice absorbs the flavor of the beef tendon well, and the crispy rice is just perfect. It's really delicious and warms you up.
- Tender chicken and green onion salt tataki: This dish is amazing! The balance between the seared surface and rare inside is perfect. The richness of the meat is outstanding. It's a must-try!
The stew is also excellent, and there is a variety of bread available for unlimited refills. There are other special service days as well, so keep an eye out for those.
(January 2009 initial visit) Zorome opened in September 2008, retaining the good aspects of the original Ushinohone main store. The exterior doesn't give away the presence of the restaurant at first glance. Once you enter, you'll find the same calm atmosphere as the original store. The seating is limited, but the space feels open.
The menu features the famous Ushinohone stew and a variety of izakaya dishes, with beef tendon dishes being a highlight. I tried the beef tendon and leek stir-fry, beef tendon skewers with yuzu miso and green onions, beef tendon and tripe with shichimi ponzu, cloud eggs with ponzu, Ushinohone stew, tataki chicken cartilage skewers, duck shabu with green onions and sesame sauce, Inaniwa udon, and assorted oden. I ate a lot, and everything was delicious. The standout dishes for me were:
- Tataki chicken cartilage skewers: Crispy on the outside, juicy and well-seasoned on the inside.
- Inaniwa udon (cold): Thin noodles with great texture, perfect for a refreshing finish.
- Duck shabu with green onions and sesame sauce: The duck is tender and flavorful, reminiscent of eating delicious beef. A definite favorite.
The prices for alcohol are slightly higher, but it's not a significant difference. The restaurant is not yet extremely popular, but I hope it remains a hidden gem.
