I visited this place a long time ago, but back then I arrived a bit late and they were already sold out. Remembering that, I decided to stop by around opening time this time. "Suzumeya" is located near the east exit of Ikebukuro Station, behind Junkudo Bookstore. It's a tiny shop where only one person can enter at a time. Their dorayaki is famous, so I had been wanting to visit someday, and finally did. When I arrived a little after opening time, there was a line, but everyone bought quickly so I didn't have to wait long. The dorayaki costs 230 yen. Holding it, you can feel how fluffy it is. It's a simple dorayaki with a beautiful brown color. Let's peel back the skin... Inside, there is chunky sweet red bean paste. It has a sweet flavor with the distinct taste of azuki beans, and the bean skins add a nice texture. The skin is also delicious. I had one as soon as I got home. The skin was soft and fluffy, with a slight sweetness and a good aroma. After waiting a bit (the expiration date is until the next day), I had another one. The dough had slightly shrunk, but it was still fluffy. This dorayaki, which shows how popular it is, was delicious. I would love to eat it again if I have the chance.

In Ikebukuro, there is a famous dorayaki shop. I visited after buying a Doraemon comic for my nephew at Junkudo Bookstore Ikebukuro Main Store, in a Doraemon-themed outing. I arrived before lunchtime. There were 8 customers ahead of me in line. There were no customers behind me. I purchased a dorayaki for 230 yen including tax. It had a satisfying weight to it. The red bean filling had a distinct grainy texture, which is quite rare for dorayaki. The texture of the red beans added a unique touch. The sweetness level was just right. The outer cake part was of a traditional type. It had a standard thickness, emphasizing the harmony with the red bean filling. A classic yet distinct dorayaki. Thank you for the meal.

I used takeout service. When I arrived around 1 pm on a holiday, the limited menu was sold out, but I was able to smoothly purchase a dorayaki. It's great that you can buy them individually. When I brought it home right away, the aroma of the dough was very nice and delicious! The red bean paste was coarse, with a refreshing sweetness and a very good balance! The shop is a bit hard to visit as it's only open 3 days a week, but I'm glad I was able to come.

Located a 6-8 minute walk from Ikebukuro Station, Suzumeya is a specialty dorayaki shop. They are closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays, making it a bit difficult to visit as they are closed for more than half of the week. The shop has been selected as one of the top 100 sweet shops in Tokyo in 2020 and 2022, and as one of the top 100 traditional Japanese sweets shops in 2023. In addition to dorayaki, they also offer items like kibidango and fresh sweets, but it seems that items other than dorayaki are sold out by early afternoon, so it is better to visit in the morning for a wider selection. This time, I tried their signature dorayaki. The fluffy dough is filled with plenty of sweet red bean paste, making it a classic and delicious dorayaki. While Kyoto is often associated with traditional Japanese sweets, Tokyo also has its share of renowned shops, and Suzumeya's dorayaki is no exception. I highly recommend visiting to purchase these delicious traditional Japanese sweets for yourself or as souvenirs. Thank you for the meal!

I had a 700 yen matcha mochi and a 230 yen dorayaki. Both had a simple sweetness that brought out the natural flavors, making them delicious without being overwhelming. The dorayaki had a subtle hint of honey, adding to its natural taste.

I finished writing in my notebook at Gokan-san and headed to Suzumeya. There was one customer ahead of me, so I entered the small shop. It was as narrow as Tachibana-san's shop. I decided to buy just one dorayaki and also got some green tea mochi. When I left the shop, there were suddenly 7-8 people waiting in line. It's definitely a popular place. The dorayaki, which is popular here, was quite sweet. I checked to see if it was the red bean paste that was sweet, but it wasn't that sweet. When I tried just the pancake part, I found out that it was also sweet. It's probably fine for those who have a sweet tooth, but for me, it was a bit too much. On the other hand, the green tea mochi had a light sweetness. It was delicious with its soft mochi and matcha flavor. Dorayaki 230 yen, Green tea mochi 700 yen.

A simple yet elegant dessert made with minimal ingredients. The dough is beautifully baked, evenly golden brown, and visually appealing. The sweetness of the red bean paste and dough is light and refreshing, making it enjoyable even for those who are not fond of sweets. The red bean paste has a rich aroma and flavor of azuki beans. While not meant for comparison, personally, I prefer this over the so-called top three dorayaki in Tokyo.

I finally got to try the wagashi shop in Ikebukuro. Every time I went, they were always sold out, but this time I was able to enjoy their limited edition fresh sweets and dorayaki. The fresh sweets were made with Sawa-no-Tsuru sake and zunda. Both the zunda and sake flavors were outstanding and delicious. The dorayaki was also very tasty, made with large red beans. Thank you for the meal.

The soft texture of the dorayaki is evident from the moment you pick it up, increasing expectations. As expected, the texture is soft and fluffy, with a gentle honey flavor and a moderate, elegant sweetness that makes the dorayaki very delicious. Inside, there is a generous amount of red bean paste with a refined sweetness. It's a delicious dorayaki that lives up to its high ratings.

After having soba at Sujyu, I got some Japanese sweets to go from a nearby Suzume-ya. The seasonal green tea mochi had a same-day expiration date. When I put it in my mouth, it melted softly and elegantly with a hint of matcha powder. The dorayaki is famous so no need to explain. Its expiration date was the next day. The honey oozing out of the dorayaki was just the right amount of sweetness, making it easy to gobble up.

"Sparrow House" I finally got to visit this Wagashi shop, which is located a little further back from Minami-Ike Park in Ikebukuro and only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Unfortunately, they were sold out of everything except for dorayaki. I bought one dorayaki for 230 yen. The dough was sweet and had a fluffy and moist texture. The red bean paste was chunky and also on the sweeter side. It wasn't overly sweet and stood out from the recent trend of less sweet Wagashi. It was a very delicious dorayaki! I want to try their monaka as well, so I'll go back early next time."

I rarely go to Ikebukuro, but when I do, I always stop by Suzume-ya to buy souvenirs. This time, I bought a box of 6 dorayaki for 1380 yen since all the other products were sold out. The dorayaki was small in size, with a fluffy and soft texture, and the taste was not too sweet, allowing the red bean paste to shine. I prefer dorayaki that are not overly sweet, so this was perfect for me. Each piece was 230 yen, and they also offer boxed packaging, making it a great souvenir option. I highly recommend it as a souvenir from Ikebukuro. I'll aim to try different dorayaki flavors next time!

I have tried many delicious dorayaki before, but this one was top-notch. It may not have the same volume as Kameju, but it is just the right size with a good aftertaste. The atmosphere of the shop is also nice, and the price is not too high. I really liked it!

I finally got to try Suzumeya near Ikebukuro Station. Last time I visited, they were already closed. This time, I was able to get some takeout. I bought dorayaki, two types of wagashi, and matcha mochi. The dorayaki had a chewy skin and was delicious. I enjoyed it a lot. I would love to buy from there again next time I'm in the area.

On Saturday around 11 am, I waited in line for a little while. I got 6 dorayaki for free in a box. The red bean paste was quite sweet compared to other stores' taiyaki or daifuku, which is characteristic of dorayaki. The dorayaki skin was moderately sweet, fluffy, and moist, and it was delicious. It seemed like they put a lot of effort into making it, and at 230 yen, it was a good deal.

Ikebukuro is a Japanese confectionery shop known for its signature dorayaki. The shop is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11:00 to 18:00, and they close once they sell out. When I arrived just before 11:00 on a Saturday, there was no line, just a couple of people waiting outside. The shop is small, with only one customer allowed inside at a time. The dorayaki (230 yen each) is filled with chunky red bean paste. The filling is generously packed inside, almost bursting out when you try to cut it in half. The fluffy pancake-like outer layer holds a refined sweetness of the red bean paste. Despite the generous filling, it is not too heavy, and you will definitely finish it in no time. It was delicious!

Business days are three days a week, and once sold out, it's the end at Suzumeya. On my fourth visit, I finally managed to buy (I always go late and miss out). It was a miracle to be able to buy at 3 pm on a weekday! The entrance feels like a time slip back to the Showa era, with a nostalgic atmosphere. The popular fresh sweets and handmade monaka were already sold out, but the classic year-round products like Dorayaki for ¥230 were still available. The Dorayaki had a moist and chewy skin with a simple sweet red bean paste that wasn't too sticky or too sweet, and you could buy as many as you wanted. It's so delicious that you might end up eating a lot! I also managed to get the seasonal product, Matcha Mochi for ¥700. There was a limit of one box per person, so I was lucky to get it! The soft mochi was generously sprinkled with a hint of gentle sweetness of matcha powder, and even though there were 6 pieces in the box, they were gone in no time! Of course, there is no eat-in space, so I had it as a takeout and enjoyed it at home. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the popular Japanese confectionery shop "Suzumeya." I had heard good things about it but had trouble finding the right time to go until now. The shop is often closed on holidays and a bit of a walk from the station. I purchased the seasonal item, green tea mochi for 700 yen, and the year-round item, dorayaki for 230 yen. Some items were already sold out. The green tea mochi had a strong and delicious sweetness from the matcha bean paste and soft mochi. The dorayaki had a pleasant sweetness from the red bean paste.

I visited the newly opened dorayaki shop called "Suzumeya," which appeared like a comet! While there are three famous dorayaki shops in Tokyo known as the "Big Three Dorayaki" - Usagiya, Kameju, and Kusatsuki, Suzumeya is a small traditional Japanese sweets shop that opened in 2004, located about a 7-8 minute walk from JR Ikebukuro Station's east exit. The shop is tucked away in a quiet alley, so be sure not to miss it. The menu includes dorayaki sold individually, sets of 6 or 10 dorayaki, and two types of wagashi (Japanese sweets). Unfortunately, the popular item "ocha mochi" was sold out when I visited, so please be aware that the shop is only open on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and items may sell out quickly.

I have eaten more than 10 dorayaki from Suzumeya before. I hadn't eaten them in a while, so I went to buy some recently. I bought 2 dorayaki for 230 yen each. I had just eaten from Usagiya recently so I still remember the taste. Although I had never compared them before, when I compared them now... The dough from Usagiya is chewy, while Suzumeya's is fluffy. I prefer the red bean paste from Suzumeya. The packaging is also cute. It's best to go early as they might sell out quickly.

It was rare and fortunate to visit Suzumeya at just the right time. I had not been able to go when it was not busy, so it was lucky. I bought dorayaki and matcha mochi. The dorayaki had a fluffy texture with just the right amount of sweetness in the filling, which was delicious. The matcha mochi had a smooth matcha filling that paired perfectly with the mochi, it was exactly to my liking. I will visit again at a good timing. Thank you for the meal!!
