This is a place that was used as a resting place during Princess Diana's visit to Japan. Until the end of February, on weekends and holidays, there are two sessions limited to 28 people each from 11:30. You need to make a reservation. Please gather 10 minutes before the scheduled time, and you will be guided to your seat. The cost is 3,700 yen. The seating is predetermined when you make a reservation. There will be an explanation of the dishes, and then everyone will start eating at the same time. The owner of Isobe, a Kyoto cuisine restaurant near Yasaka Shrine, will talk about this event. It's mostly a quiet meal (◞‸◟ㆀ). I was expecting to chat with friends and enjoy the meal while looking at the garden, so I was a bit disappointed. Around 30 minutes later, there was a talk by the shop owner about Koun-tei. It may not be necessary, but it's okay. Then, it's time for taking photos in the garden, haha. If you follow this schedule, it might be better to enjoy tea leisurely rather than focusing on the food. The early spring Nijo Maru Gozen meal consisted of a dish with yuba and Kyoto Mizuna in soy milk hot pot. I had a limited-time breakfast at Koun-Tei inside Nijo Castle. It was provided by Kyoto cuisine Isobe-san. The entrance fee for Nijo Castle is 800 yen, and the breakfast costs around 3600 yen, a bit expensive. The balance between the content of the dishes and the price is off, but I compromised thinking about paying for the atmosphere of this space. The ambiance and view were fantastic, and I had a great experience. I also managed to find hidden Mickeys and hearts.

On August 29th (Saturday) at around 8:25, I visited. It is by appointment only. I was treated by a friend, so I will refrain from rating. You can enjoy the view of the private garden. For now, I will only post photos of the food. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I was invited to have breakfast at Kounotei and decided to wake up early to go. Early morning in Kyoto is so nice. They served Kansai summer classics like hamo, yuba, simmered vegetables, and rice dishes, all delicious with beautiful colors and arrangements. It was a luxurious time.

This was my first time visiting. I had no idea about it before! I went for breakfast on a friend's recommendation... The location, the food, the hospitality, the taste, the atmosphere, the chef - everything was amazing!! It's been a long time since I had such a great breakfast!!
