Visited "Niku no Hiroe" in Nishiki Market. It's small but has a clean counter where you can stand and eat. When you think of Kyoto, you might think of light broth, but here they serve miso stew! The flavor is on the rich side. The beef skewers are made with A5 grade black wagyu, so they are quite satisfying to eat.

On a bustling Sunday at Nishiki Market, I decided to try a specialty shop that serves simmered tripe. The menu was limited, but I ordered a bottle of beer and beef skewers for 650 yen, as well as simmered tripe with tofu for 800 yen. The beer was nicely chilled and tasty, but when the simmered tripe with tofu arrived, I was shocked. It was so small and the tripe was scarce. And for 800 yen, it was not worth it at all. When I tried it, the tripe was lukewarm, the tofu was even colder, barely cooked, and lacked flavor. The beef skewers were also disappointingly small. I believed the overly positive reviews and regretted going there.

Meat Hiroe's Beef Offal Bowl for 900 yen with a warm egg topping at the bustling Nishiki Market on weekends. It had been so long since my last visit that I couldn't remember when it was. Despite the cold weather, the beef offal stew was a comforting choice. The portion was just right, and the taste of the simmered taro inside was delicious. I might try to replicate it at home (laughs). Thank you for the meal! #KyotoGourmet #NishikiMarketFoodTour #MeatHiroe #BeefOffalStew #OnsenEgg #beefbowl

On a regular day at 15:20, I visited this place for the second time. They only serve simmered tripe and eggs (¥750) and draft beer (¥600). The menu is only in Japanese, so it might be hard for non-Japanese speakers to understand what kind of restaurant it is. However, this also means that the place is not crowded, even though it's located in a popular spot with many foreign tourists at Nishiki Market. The simmered dish is delicious, with a rich miso flavor that pairs well with the beer. It's a great place to stop by for a quick and satisfying meal while exploring Nishiki Market.

Zero is probably the best choice for the next visit. The simmered dish is just the right amount for snacking, and the bowl is a perfect size for women to finish. However, the real star of this restaurant is the lemon sour! It may be a bit pricey, but you'll definitely want to have at least 2 glasses! To make it more affordable, they should consider lowering the price just a bit more.

I was looking for a place to have breakfast out, so I walked around to Kawaramachi Station and ended up on Nishiki Koji. There are a few places on Nishiki Koji that serve breakfast to tourists starting before 10 am. I felt a bit like a tourist and checked out various places before being drawn into this particular restaurant. I had just read an article in a weekly magazine saying that it's good to eat meat in the morning, so I ordered a simmered beef bowl (900 yen) with pickles. I thought it was a bit pricey, but I figured it was expected in a tourist area. However, when the food arrived, I was shocked. The portion was surprisingly small. It felt like it should have been priced around 450 yen. Paying 900 yen for this was definitely overpriced. It made me realize the harshness of Kyoto as a tourist destination. Well, it might be okay for tourists, but definitely not a place locals would go to.

While touring Nishiki Market, I found a restaurant that served motsu-ni (simmered offal). Since I had eaten a lot in the morning, I decided to eat while walking around for lunch. When I sat down, everyone around me was drinking and having lively conversations. I ordered motsu-ni, grilled tofu, pork belly skewers, and beer. It was my first time trying motsu-ni, and I was expecting it to be heavy, but it was surprisingly refined and light. The grilled tofu was warmed and topped with the motsu-ni broth, while the pork belly skewers were cooked just right, tender and delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The narrow street was congested due to each store extending their signs and products onto the sidewalk. Despite the crowded Saturday with many people, the presence of foreign customers made it feel like the COVID-19 pandemic was not a concern. After browsing through several shops, I decided to enter a shop that caught my eye. I ordered the Beef Intestine Stew for 650 yen and a Highball for 500 yen. The menu was simple, offering only the stew made with beef intestines instead of the usual pork intestines found in the Kanto region. The flavor was rich and suited for slowly enjoying rather than quickly devouring. It would go well with white rice. Personally, I prefer to eat and drink a lot in one place, so I wished there were more menu options available. However, it is a perfect spot for tourists looking to grab a quick bite and a drink before moving on. #KyotoGourmet #KyotoNishikiMarket #NikuNoHiroe #BeefIntestineStew

If there is an open seat at Niku no Hiro, a specialty shop for motsu-ni at Nishiki Market, you can easily sit down, order motsu-ni, eat quickly, have a drink, and leave the shop feeling satisfied. The staff is friendly, making you want to visit again. I might end up stopping by again when passing by.

I was curious about NIKU NO HIROE, a specialty shop for simmered tripe at Kyoto Nishiki Market, but I had been passing by because their menu only consisted of simmered tripe. However, I decided to give it a try. The basic dish is simmered tripe for 650 yen, but you can also add toppings like grilled tofu, simmered egg, and hot spring egg. Since they were out of hot spring eggs that day, I added simmered egg as a topping. The tender simmered tripe was surprisingly delicious with each bite! The simmered egg with its semi-soft yolk also paired well with the tripe. I initially stopped by for a taste, but ended up ordering a second serving of grilled tofu simmered tripe! The deliciousness of the tripe made the beer go down smoothly, and I decided that this is a place I will definitely visit again!

Nishiki Market is a great place for food hopping. There are many seafood options available in Nishiki Market. One popular spot is Niku no Hiroju, known for their motsu-ni (simmered offal). I visited during lunchtime when it wasn't too crowded yet. The delicious smell drew me in. The owner, a woman, was running the shop by herself. I ordered the classic motsu-ni and a highball. The flavors were rich and tasty. The alcohol went down smoothly. They let the dish sit for a day before serving, so there is a limited quantity available. I recommend visiting early to avoid missing out.

On this day, I visited Kyoto. I was impressed by the blue and red leaves at Rurikoin, went shopping at Kyoto Yatsuichi, and strolled through Nishiki Market. Suddenly, I felt like having a beer, but I had a meal reservation later, so I couldn't eat and drink too much. I found a nice bar with only a counter where I could quickly have a beer. The menu seemed to be focused on motsu-ni (simmered offal) dishes. Without hesitation, I entered the cozy bar. The place had a counter with about 8 seats, and the friendly female owner was running the place alone. The menu only had motsu-ni, motsu-ni tofu, motsu-ni tamago, and motsu-ni donburi. I ordered a beer and motsu-ni. The beer (650 yen) was Kirin Ichiban Shibori, served in a chilled glass. It was the most delicious beer I've had recently. The motsu-ni (650 yen) was simmered in red miso with tender beef offal and taro. It had a perfect balance of flavors. I quickly enjoyed the beer and motsu-ni and settled the bill. They open from 10 am, so motsu-ni donburi and beer would be a good choice next time. Thank you for the meal.

After taking out croquettes, I headed to Nishiki Market. Later on, on my way to a reserved restaurant, I came across a place that caught my interest, and felt like having a drink, so I decided to visit. It's a cozy little place run by a brisk proprietress inside Nishiki Market. The simmered tripe visible behind the counter looked delicious, so I took a photo as well. The ice-cold bottled beer in a chilled glass was exceptionally tasty. The simmered tripe in red miso, a specialty of the restaurant, was cooked to perfection, with the tripe melting in your mouth and taro adding to the deliciousness. Thank you for the meal.

Holiday 1420 No Waiting - Simmered Chicken Gizzards with Egg (¥750) and Draft Beer (¥600) - A newly opened simmered chicken gizzard shop in Nishiki Market. Perfect for those who want to enjoy a light lunch with simmered dish and draft beer from noon. I happened to see the sign while walking and couldn't resist going in. The simmered dish has a rich miso flavor reminiscent of Nagoya's Tebasaki. The combination with draft beer was perfect for exploring Kyoto. There is no set menu, so it is ideal for those who want to enjoy a light drink.

A specialty store that specializes in "Kyoto motsu-ni," which is made by simmering three types of hormones and beef tendons in three different Kyoto miso sauces, has opened in Nishiki Market. The store has a bar-style L-shaped counter where you can enjoy dishes such as motsu-ni tofu, motsu-ni egg, and motsu-ni rice bowl. Order: - Motsu-ni rice bowl (850 yen) The tenderly simmered motsu-ni has a balanced sweetness and a rich flavor, making it a great match with rice. This is a perfect spot to enjoy a quick meal with motsu-ni and drinks while shopping at Nishiki Market.

Specializing in the famous dish "Kyoto motsu-ni," this shop uses only carefully selected wagyu beef offal. The offal is slowly simmered in a secret miso sauce made with soy sauce and unique seasonings until it becomes tender and melts in your mouth. This dish, paired with our prideful selection of sake, is a perfect accompaniment to rice.
