One of the purposes of my short trip to Kyoto was to visit Gosho Ame Honpo. It is within walking distance from Sanjo Station. I was looking forward to it after hearing that Gosho Ame was offered to Emperor Meiji, Emperor Taisho, and Their Majesties during the annual memorial service. I chose a few varieties from the crowded store and also bought some as souvenirs. It was a charming little shop.

Near Sanjo Ohashi Bridge, there is a specialty candy store. When you think of candy stores in Kyoto, the one in Gion usually comes to mind, but I was surprised to find one here. I decided to visit and tried their "luxury candy" for 350 yen. It wasn't individually wrapped, but you get a generous 150 grams. True to its name, it had a refined sweetness that was quite addictive. It was delicious.

The Imperial Palace Candy Shop is a long-established candy store known for its "Kyoto candies." This "Kyoto Koame-san" series consists of small candies that can be easily popped into your mouth, with flavors like "shiso and umeboshi" that are fun to mix and match. The combination of "shiso flavor" and "umeboshi flavor" is enjoyable. Adding in the "Uji tea flavor" may be a bit strange, but the variety of flavors in the "Kyoto Koame-san" series makes it interesting to try different combinations. I would like to try other flavors as well, although I can't buy a lot at once.

Located near Sanjo Ohashi Bridge, this shop specializes in Kyoto-style candies. I visited on a weekend in early January around noon. Inside the shop, there were many varieties of candies displayed. They offered a wide range of options in terms of quantity, from small to large packages. After a fun time choosing, I purchased several candies. One of them, the "acorn candy," had a delicious blend of black sugar flavor and nuttiness. Thank you for the treat.

On my way back from Sanjo Station, my mother asked me to buy something from the candy store near the broom shop. They didn't have the long-handled broom I wanted in stock, so I ended up buying some candies instead. I got apple, orange, deluxe, gold leaf, plum, and mixed flavors for a total of 853 yen. They were individually wrapped, so I opened them all and shared with everyone. They were unexpectedly delicious, especially the orange flavor! I'll definitely go back to buy more.

The gate is extremely beautiful. I didn't know about it - there was a candy shop with pineapple, apple, strawberry, and other candies, some of them brown. I wonder if they still have ginger candy? There were many varieties. Also, it has a great sense of history. It was delicious!

I happened to pass by and casually entered, and it turned out to be a big hit. The candy provided as a service at the accommodation was delicious, even though it might not have been from here. The store also had a variety of candies displayed at reasonable prices, making it fun to choose. While browsing through the selection, I chose four flavors from the Kyoto Koame series: throat candy, strawberry milk, Uji tea milk, and honey lemon milk. Hmm, all milk flavors. The honey lemon milk and Uji tea milk were particularly outstanding. They would make perfect souvenirs, and I regret not buying more. Thank you for the meal today! (^-^)

This is a candy specialty store near Sanjo Station. When I entered the store, there were many types of candies lined up. It was fun to choose while feeling a bit lost. I bought a few candies. The matcha candy, which I usually buy, was delicious as always. As I ate it, the matcha powder came out from inside the candy, and I think the balance between the bitterness of matcha and the sweetness of the candy is excellent. Thank you for the meal.

Get off at Keihan Sanjo Station, cross Sanjo Ohashi Bridge, pass Starbucks, and walk a bit to find a shop. It's a long and narrow shop typical of Kyoto. Actually, my husband, who loves Kyoto, told me about this place. Whenever he goes to Kyoto for work, he always buys souvenirs here. Inside the shop, there are many different kinds of candies! It's hard to decide which one to choose. This time, I got three types of fruit umeboshi candies. Each pack contains 9 candies and costs 150 yen. I tried umeboshi candy for the first time this time. It doesn't look like it tastes like umeboshi with its light red and yellow colors, but it has a subtle plum flavor. It's slightly less sour than the small plum candies. It's a fun shop to choose from. I introduced it to my friend who visited Kyoto for the first time, and they loved it!

I bought some souvenirs in Kyoto. There were so many different kinds of candies to choose from, it was hard to decide. I heard that the sakura flavor is limited edition. I chose the mixed flavor because it looked delicious. I bought a pouch with six candies inside, but it's a mystery which flavor is which. Some taste like peach, some like yogurt, and the matcha milk flavor was easy to identify. They are all delicious, not too sweet, made with ingredients like granulated sugar and malt syrup, and no synthetic coloring, only natural colors like purple cabbage extract. I regret not buying more for myself, but I can buy them at Kyoto Station next time.

This shop is located near Ikedaya on Sanjo Street in Kyoto. You choose candies while holding a basket woven with bamboo. There are many flavors such as strawberry, pineapple, grape, orange, apple, peach, lemon, as well as Japanese flavors like ginger, shiso, umeboshi, matcha, and black sugar. The candies come in different sizes and some are individually wrapped. It's hard to decide with so many options. There is also a tasting corner at the back of the shop. If you purchase over 1500 yen, you will receive a free candy. The candies look like beautiful gemstones with a transparent appearance. Even after a month of purchase in this hot weather, they have not become sticky. I only have a few left, so I plan to buy more when I visit Kyoto again.

Inside the store, there are many flavors of candies available, ranging from traditional Japanese to various fruit flavors. If you choose a mix, you can enjoy a variety of flavors and it's a good deal! From large to small candies, they have it all. A recommended item is the small candies with a zipper, making it easy to snack on. For a small gift, how about a tea canister with traditional Japanese paper or a glass bottle with candies inside? It looks stylish. They also have candies for tasting, so you can find your favorite flavor. They even have nostalgic old-fashioned snacks. The store is located on the Kawaramachi side of Sanjo Ohashi, with a narrow entrance but easy to find along Sanjo Street.

Souvenir from a family on a business trip to Kyoto ♫ It's cider-flavored and very delicious. I used to love round candies called Awadama and would often suck on them, but this taste is like a refined version in small pellets! It's handmade, so I heard they work in a tough environment during the hot summer. I imagine the face of the maker while savoring it, and I just can't stop eating one more, and one more... If I have the chance to go to Kyoto, I definitely want to stop by.
