Main! The perfect ramen to end a night of drinking at Menya Wadachi in Gion Shijo, Kyoto. The "Hanasaki Chashu Ramen" for ¥1200. Check out the menu photo at the end. Location: 1F Iwahashi Building, 227 Nijoen-cho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto. Open from 11:00 to 5:00, until midnight on Sundays. Closed irregularly. Just a short walk from Gion Shijo Station. No parking available. Payment after your meal. Arrived at 23:20, seated at 23:25, served at 23:30. Had a nostalgic experience with the rich and flavorful chashu ramen. The soup was a mix of chicken and soy sauce with a generous amount of pork fat. The thin straight noodles were a perfect match. A great late-night meal that goes well with beer. Next time, I'll remember to ask for extra pork fat and adjust the noodle firmness. Enjoyed every bite. #Ramen #Kyoto #GionShijo #NoodleLover

The more you go to Nawa-te no Wadachi, the more you get hooked on their lemon soba. It's surprisingly good! It's frustrating how delicious it is. But I don't eat it though. #Gion Nawa-te #Wadachi #morning ramen #finale #I spent a lot of money last night. #Money comes and goes #Is that really true? #Are you going to work hard and earn money today? #It's okay to earn money again #Enjoying those happy moments is important #But well, in moderation, yourself.

In my opinion, this ramen shop is a must-visit! Their pork back fat soy sauce ramen is incredibly delicious. The photo is of their flower-shaped chashu! I have been there several times. Even late at night, it can get crowded! However, I have never had to wait, so it's a good experience. They are open until early morning, so it's also recommended after drinking. Definitely a place to go after drinking in the Gion area!

Until recently, the Japanese cuisine chef used to work part-time at night, so the work was done very carefully. However, the chef has changed, so the mixed noodles that used to be delicious taste somehow different now. But they still provide consistent service and taste! In Gion, it's Wagado.

[Ramen with Pork Back Fat and Soy Sauce]
[Noodles] Thin, straight noodles
[Toppings] Pork chashu (1 slice), chopped green onions, chopped onions, menma (seasoned bamboo shoots), pork back fat
[Soup] Pork back fat soy sauce
[Serving Time] 4 minutes
The pork back fat ranges from fine to coarse. The soup is spicy without a strong back fat flavor. The thin noodles make it easy to eat, but the portion was a bit small. The chashu slices are relatively large and well-cooked. Overall, it was delicious. It would be a good choice after drinking.

Located just a 2-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station, this ramen shop is perfect for ending a night out in Gion. They are open until the next morning and the place is always bustling with customers, even late at night.
- Lemon Chashu Ramen (Salt) ¥1,200
The clear soup has a strong salt flavor with a hint of lemon, which goes down smoothly. The thin straight noodles have a nice texture. The rare chashu is lightly seasoned and complements the ramen well. The crunchy onions also go well with the dish.
- Seared Chashu Rice Bowl ¥500
The seared chashu in this bowl is very juicy. It's a must-try dish with the negi mayonnaise.
This gentle lemon salt ramen is perfect for a satisfying end to your meal. I'm curious about the back fat, so I'll try that next time! Thank you for the meal!

I visited a shop that stays open late into the night after work to have ramen. The entrance of the shop doesn't have a door, just a transparent vinyl curtain, and it has a compact but open atmosphere. I ordered the "Back Fat Shoyu Ramen" for 900 yen and sat at a table for two. The bowl was filled with chashu, chopped green onions, and menma, with plenty of back fat floating in the soup. The soup was a clear chicken-based broth with flavorful Kyoto-brand Sawano soy sauce, providing a perfect balance of saltiness and acidity, enhanced by the richness of the back fat. The noodles were straight and thin, offering a firm texture and a smooth bite that paired well with the soup. The thinly sliced chashu and crunchy green onions complemented the noodles perfectly. The shop is located in Gion, making it a great choice for a light soy sauce ramen after drinking.

The final ramen at Gion is here, Teppen. I heard from locals that it was delicious ramen, so I decided to try it. I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by the taste and appearance of the ramen. The classic back fat soy sauce ramen was really well done. It was delicious.

This place is all about tsukemen! The tsukemen here is delicious! If you're in Gion at night and feeling hungry for ramen, Tsuji-san's tsukemen is the way to go! Everyone eats ramen, but the tsukemen here is the best! The chef actually has experience in Japanese cuisine, so while he follows the recipe, his method is different. Sitting at the counter and watching him work is a great experience. This is a dish that I highly recommend trying at least once.

This place serves delicious mixed noodles. In Gion, I was getting tired of eating ramen at night. Even Teppen-san, who thought ramen was just okay recently... tried the mixed noodles once and found it super tasty. I might get addicted to this mixed noodles after trying it once.

If you're drunk, it's decent enough to eat here. But when you're sober, the taste might not be that great. However, they're open until 9 in the morning, so if you're craving ramen, you can go to either Tetsu or Monsen. It's not bad, but it's not particularly delicious either. It feels like a convenient place to eat.

Gion Shijo "Menya Wadachi" On this day, I was bar hopping in Kyoto. My condition of wanting to slurp noodles at the end of the night was triggered, so I headed to "Menya Wadachi" right near Gion Shijo Station. It's easy to find, just across from "Issen Western Food." The restaurant's hours are from noon until 9 am the next day, fitting for the Gion area. The shop is long and narrow, with small tables in the front, a counter, and more tables in the back. While I was tempted by the rich ramen with plenty of back fat, the Lemon Salt Soba for 900 yen was perfect for my noodle craving. The combination of salt and lemon was excellent, refreshing with the crunchy onions. Eating the large rare chashu and lemon slice together was delicious!

I was a bit surprised at first to try lemon-flavored ramen for the first time after a drinking party, but it was incredibly delicious! It was light and I finished it quickly. I recommend it when you want to eat ramen in the summer despite the heat.

When playing in Gion Shijo until morning, one of the candidate ramen shops for the closing meal is Teppen. I always end up meeting acquaintances there. I know I'll gain weight if I eat it in the morning, but I can't resist. Am I sick? Addicted? Humans really can't resist their desires. Be careful when eating!

I visited the restaurant on Thursday, February 24th, a little outside of lunch time, and there were 4 other customers already there. The interior of the restaurant was filled with a cozy eel-like atmosphere, very long and narrow! I ordered the pork back fat soy sauce ramen. When the bowl arrived, I took a sip of the soup - the soy sauce flavor was a bit strong, overpowering. It had a rich taste when combined with the back fat. I guess it's a matter of personal preference? The noodles were thin and from Kyoto, cooked to the standard firmness. The chashu was rare and had a strong meaty flavor, almost too chewy to bite through! It left a lingering taste after finishing the meal.

On a regular Monday at 11:00 PM, there were no customers in the store due to the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic. I decided to stop by. The order arrived in 8 minutes!
- Backfat oil ramen ¥800 tax included
- Fried chicken ¥400 tax included
- Beer etc. Total bill ¥2400 tax included
I was a bit drunk, so I forgot how delicious it was, but the master's service was good. Thank you for the meal.

After drinking, I ordered the ramen with pork back fat as a finishing touch. The flavor was not too heavy and just right, allowing me to finish the whole bowl.

I came to Kyoto after a long time, but found out that Tenichi near Shijo Station was closed. I really wanted to eat at Tenichi, but decided to eat ramen here instead. The interior of the restaurant is like an eel's resting place. They offer two types of ramen, soy sauce and salt. I ordered the pork back fat soy sauce ramen. It arrived in less than 5 minutes after ordering. Fast! First, the soup. It has a rich pork back fat flavor, but also a refreshing soy sauce taste. It reminds me of Daikoku or Menya Musashi's ramen. It's not too heavy, and the onion and shichimi pepper add an accent, which sets it apart from other soy sauce ramen at different restaurants. The noodles are medium-thin and go well with the soup. The chashu is tender and delicious. Overall, the taste is refreshing and delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I usually leave some food when I eat after drinking, but this time I finished it all! The simple clear soup ramen is the best, right? It's really great that they are open until early morning!

I have tried all the ramen here except for the lemon one! I think I like the clear broth ramen the best because it's simple. Lately, I've noticed many shops using rare chashu.
