We visited KIFUNE BAKERY in Kyoto's Kita-ku, on Kitayama Street, with the members of "Pan Meguri Kansai" for a bread activity. We greeted Chef Yasui, a graduate of Royal Oak H, and purchased and enjoyed a comparison of croissants made with domestic fermented butter and croissants made with French fermented butter, Les Cire 100%, as announced on Insta. It was very delicious. 25-7 Shitake Nishikitamachi, Kita-ku, Kyoto City.

I wanted to get the premium croissant bread, but it was sold out, so I bought regular bread and a Mont Blanc-style Danish pastry instead. The bread is made with Hokkaido wheat and has a salty flavor. It's delicious when toasted with just butter. I'll go back next time to buy the premium croissant bread!

■Visit Date: February 19, 2022■Items Received:・Roll Cake・French Bread■MEMOVisited on February 19, 2022. This shop is located along Kitayama Street, towards the west end of the street. It is situated higher up near Daikakuji. We found this shop while walking from Kuroa towards Kaishotei near Kitayama Station for lunch. We saw the sign for weekend-only roll cakes from across the road, crossed the signal, and entered the shop. My wife went inside while I waited outside. We bought a roll cake for ¥1600, available only on weekends in limited quantities. The moist and fluffy castella sponge with classic cream that's not too sweet was to my liking. The perfectly moist texture made it irresistible, and we finished it in just two days. It was a delicious find while walking around. The shop mainly sells bread, and although there were many tempting options, we ended up buying only the French bread this time.■Bloghttps://ay-style.net/

Located two houses east of Jotoku-ji Temple along Kitayama Street, near the Jotoku-ji bus stop, this bakery features a showcase similar to a cake shop, displaying danishes, croissants, red bean buns, French bread, and more. Customers place their orders with the staff. I used to hesitate to enter when there were other customers, but I have visited several times during quieter periods, such as after the New Year. - The croissant dough is made with Rescuer A.O.P fermented butter, which gives it a delicate, crispy exterior and a moist interior with a refined sweetness and saltiness. It has become my new favorite. - The apple Danish has a crispy exterior and a slightly sour apple flavor with a subtle sweetness. It's a simple and delicious treat. - The bread made with Kitano Kaori wheat is fluffy and slightly sweet, with a pleasant aroma reminiscent of fresh milk. - The French bread has a crispy crust and a soft interior, with a lovely fragrance of wheat. - The sweet bread has a gentle sweetness that enhances the natural sweetness of the dough itself. - The red bean butter bun combines the deliciousness of wheat and red bean paste. - The Mont Blanc-style Danish features a chestnut-shaped chocolate and powdered sugar topping, almond cream with Mont Blanc, and a whole chestnut at the bottom. The crispy Danish dough complements the elegant flavor. - The walnut bread has a gentle sweetness with plenty of walnuts. While the variety may seem limited, they might add more options in the future. The North Mountain Roll, available only on weekends and in high demand, as well as the melon pan, which won an award in a contest, are also worth trying. The name of the bakery is inspired by the nearby Shitake Kifune Shrine, which is dedicated to the deity of water.

I bought some wagashi, had lunch, and on my way back I decided to buy some bread from this shop. I got a sausage (280 yen), almond chocolate (280 yen), anpan (230 yen), walnut bread (230 yen), and thick-cut bacon potato (320 yen). The bread had a nice texture and the size and amount of fillings were just right. I would like to visit again.

Once again, a new shop has opened in the Murasakitake area, catching my attention. It is a street-front store on Kitayama Street. It is not self-service, but rather face-to-face service offering mountain food, anpan, croissants, and danishes. The croissants have a light color when baked, but are crispy when eaten. I believe they are made with domestic wheat, as they have a nice wheat aroma and a subtle buttery taste. The almond chocolate danish has a strong sweetness from the chocolate, with less almond flavor. The pastry is also crispy. The fromage danish, with plenty of cheese on a lightly cooked pastry, was my favorite. The shop had won awards during its time at a hotel, as indicated by the modest display of a trophy. It seems that they do not produce large quantities and open early, so it is best to visit in the morning. It appears to cater more to local needs rather than being a destination for visitors. Nevertheless, this area has seen a recent rush of new openings. It's great to have more options for bakeries in the area.

KIFUNE BAKERY Croissant ¥230 Sausage ¥280 Mont Blanc ¥320 I visited "KIFUNE BAKERY" in Kyoto Kitayama, which opened on 12/10, in line with the opening time of 7:00 am. Chef Yasui, who also has experience at Royal Oak H, started with a lineup of authentic croissants, Danish pastries, and bread that he is good at making. I tried the "Croissant" and it was delicious with a crispy texture. It would be even better if it had a bit more buttery flavor, but considering the price of ¥230, it's a great deal. You can judge by looking at the image. I also quickly tried the "Sausage", and the crispy sausage in the cute dough wrapping was delicious. I also quickly ate the "Mont Blanc". The crispy Danish pastry, chestnut paste, and topping were all cute. This is definitely a dessert. A stylish new bakery has opened in the north of Kyoto's Kitayama Street, making bread activities more enjoyable. This place comes highly recommended. A bakery in a place I don't usually go to. Salt bread for ¥200 ○◎... The outside is firm and solid, but the inside is soft with buttery hollows. The amount of butter is not that much. Salt bread varies a lot between different bakeries, which makes it interesting.

There were many delicious breads that were simple yet tasty. The prices were reasonable, and the cream in the cream puff was delicious.

The Danish pastry and custard cream were both very delicious. The size was just right and you can tell they pay attention to detail. Thank you for the meal, I will definitely visit again since it's close by.
