I found this shop while driving and stopped at a traffic light. The atmosphere of the shop made me feel like the food would be delicious. I ended up buying a lot on impulse, but everything was tasty, especially the hard bread which suited my taste. The egg sandwich was also good.

5/3 (Tue) - A bread tour around Kyoto and Shiga! Visited Store #4: "Garopan" in Kita-ku, Kyoto City. The original plan was to visit another bakery, but it was closed, so I searched for another bakery nearby and found this charming shop. I drove there and was greeted by a lovely blue door. Inside, they had a variety of French bread like baguettes, pain de campagne made with rye, as well as Japanese bread like anpan and cream pan. The owner is French, so you can enjoy authentic French bread here. Their most popular item, "Polka," is made with the same ingredients as the baguette but baked differently, resulting in a unique texture. I had to buy it! I also got the "Tomato Cheese Baguette," which is only available on weekends and holidays. It was quite heavy when I picked it up with tongs! Looking forward to trying it out! The owner was very polite at the checkout, and I felt warm inside. Even though it's far, I would love to visit again. 5/13 (Sat) - In the morning, I had a "Petit Polka." They had two types of Polka, and the Petit Polka seemed about 1.5 times smaller than the regular one. It was just the right size for a meal. I sliced it and noticed the abundance of crumb, indicating freshness. The texture was indeed very chewy, different from the crispy crust of a baguette but equally delicious. The thin crust had a gentle touch. I could eat it endlessly. For lunch, I had the Tomato Cheese Baguette. It weighed over 300g! Since it was too much for one sitting, I cut off 180g and enjoyed it. The bread dough had tomato mixed in, offering a rich flavor with each bite. The cheese on the crust paired perfectly with the tomato-flavored dough, making me feel happy. Another place I want to revisit! (Photo 15) Illustration of purchased items.

The flat melon bread is actually melon bread when you eat it. I have seen it elsewhere, but is it like that in foreign countries? The epi is large and only 200 yen, which is a great deal. The croissant has a classic feel. Overall, everything is reasonably priced, delicious, and satisfying.

I visited the bakery in the early evening, so there were only a few bread left. The French owner seemed apologetic about it, and I found him to be very friendly. I bought a butter an pan and a cheese bread, and they were a bit tough the next day, but still delicious and satisfying. I would like to go back earlier next time and try more varieties of bread. It seems like you can collect points for visiting the store through LINE.

I was wondering what was being constructed, but it turned out to be a bakery. Before going to the post office on the corner of the intersection to get some change, I decided to check out this bakery. According to a review by Hydrangea-san, they have a Gâteau Breton made by someone from Brittany, France. I was curious about the bread they offered. When I entered, I found the unusual Gâteau Breton available in large and small sizes, and they even offered samples. It was too sweet for me, so I passed on it. They also had anpan and cream bread, which are common in most bakeries. The hard bread looked delicious, but since I already had a month's supply of hard bread in the freezer, I opted for softer bread this time. I decided to buy a Bacon Epi, which I like the look of, even though it turned out to be crunchier than I expected. I also bought a Raisin Bread, as I love raisins. I noticed they had a Plum Bacon, which seemed unique, so I bought one to try. The prices were reasonable, which was nice to see amidst the trend of cakes priced like pastries. The Plum Bacon was small but had a good weight to it. When I took a bite, I was surprised to find it filled with plums. It was my first time experiencing the combination of plum and bacon. I warmed up the Raisin Bread slightly on the stove to enhance the aroma of the raisins. As for the Bacon Epi, it was soft and fluffy, which was a different experience for me as I usually prefer crunchy and hard bread. Maybe I'm more suited for hard bread. When I run out of frozen bread, I think I'll try the Campagne bread next.

It's a new bakery that opened around 15 minutes walk from Kitaoji Station, near the southwest corner of Kamihorikawa intersection. The exterior, with its blue and white color scheme, may stand out in the area. The flat display and selection of hard breads remind me of a popular bakery in Kagurazaka, a little French-inspired area in Tokyo. They offer hard breads like Pain de Campagne and Pain aux Raisins, as well as sweet breads like Melon Pan and Anpan, baked goods, and pudding. The plate of Gâteau Breton had a note saying it's a specialty from Brittany. In the back of the store, I saw a foreign person wearing a mask working. I bought the following items: - Walnut Fig Pain de Campagne: The slightly sweet dough is filled with dried figs cut into raisin-like pieces and walnuts. - Gâteau Breton (small): The texture was not as hard as I expected, with a nice balance of crispy and moist, and just the right amount of sweetness. - Baguette: It had a crispy crust with a slightly soft and less salty interior than expected. It felt more gentle in texture, not as hard as traditional French bread, maybe more suited for Japanese taste or a Brittany-style. I particularly liked the small Gâteau Breton for its reasonable size and price (around 1200 yen).

When I went there once, they were already sold out, but when I asked, they said they still had a few types of bread left. The chef from Brittany, France, makes delicious bread like Gâteau Breton (1200 yen), Pain aux Raisins (220 yen), Plum Bacon (180 yen), Anpan (140 yen), and Torsion (200 yen). I was particularly interested in the Anpan made by the French chef, which had a classic taste with sweet red bean paste inside. The Gâteau Breton, a specialty from Brittany, stood out for its deliciousness!

I noticed that there is a place near my local post office that is undergoing interior renovations to become a new restaurant. It seems to be a personal bakery as they have been selling out in the mornings, but it looks like they have calmed down a bit now. I purchased an epi bread and a wheat stick. The bread had a light color and a chewy texture, without any strong flavors. They reminded me of a French boulangerie, with a good selection of pastries as well. I also bought a Breton-style gateau breton, which I rarely eat, but it was dense and fragrant, and went well with tea. The exterior of the bakery was a refreshing blue color, and their selection was a bit different from other bakeries in the city. Since it's in the neighborhood, I plan to wake up early and visit again. I'm curious about their baguettes.

I met a bakery at a handmade market. I also like hard bread, but I love bagels too. I quickly made a ham sandwich with cream cheese for lunch. It's delicious! (´ε` )

I went there for the first time today. It opened in December, but it's in a place where you can't stop your car, so I was finally able to go today. The inside of the store was spacious and had a better selection than I expected. Since it was my first time, I was worried that if I bought too much and it wasn't delicious... I decided to just get one sweet bread and one baguette. The sweet bread had a very delicious semi-hard crust. The smell of wheat was also good. The amount of filling inside didn't interfere with the taste of the bread and the overall balance was good. I'm looking forward to trying the baguette later. I think it's a very delicious bakery.

I bought melon bread, salt bread, cheese bread, and chocolate and walnut scones. The melon bread had coarse sugar kneaded into it, and the salt bread had kelp inside, which is typically used in onigiri, making it unique and delicious.
