The first floor had counter seats, while the second floor had table seats. You could see the garden from the counter seats. Unlike the store at Kyoto Station, they also offer kaiseki meals. I had the Hitsumabushi with one whole eel, and when I opened the lid, the impact and aroma of the eel made me exclaim in amazement. My friend and I couldn't help but smile at each other. The eel was plump and the skin was crispy, making it very delicious.

Visited the eel restaurant owned by the fourth generation Kikukawa-san, boasting the largest number of stores. The atmosphere was excellent, especially being in Gion, and I could truly feel the Japanese ambiance. They also had eel-specialized sake, making it a fantastic experience! The menu was structured in a way that allowed us to fully enjoy the eel!

I went to Yondaime Kikukawa in Gion, which had a pre-opening. The eel hitsumabushi was delicious, with perfect grilling and a good waiting time for the service. The sake that was specially sampled to pair with the eel was also excellent, making it a great time. If I had to mention one thing, the dashi for hitsumabushi was a bit too Kyoto-style, which made it less reliable. But I will definitely go back again.
