I visited an stylish izakaya called Sambadi, located about a 5-minute walk from Keihan Electric Railway Jingu Marutamachi Station, which was renovated from a machiya (traditional townhouse) in Kyoto. The name, appearance of the store, and dishes had a lot of good contrasts. It was a casual drinking session, but I had a great time. The shop mainly focuses on wine, but the food and appetizers are also excellent. The dishes have a unique twist, and I especially loved the dish with tuna and trefoil yam. The combination of plum and water eggplant was also refreshing. I left before eating too much, but I wanted to try more. Next time, I will have a hearty meal and drinks there! Thank you for the meal.

The menu was limited to just one page, and some items were sold out since we visited at night. However, the firefly squid, ginger shumai, and deep-fried chicken wings that we ordered were all delicious. Among them, I particularly liked the stewed tail. Next time, I would like to try the cheesecake as a dessert.

I visited the restaurant on an early evening weekend. The place was already half full, probably because they serve drinks from early afternoon. On that day, they had a sandwich menu instead of their regular menu, so the food options were limited. I had potato salad, nanohana ohitashi, and firefly squid and egg sandwich. I had never tried a firefly squid sandwich before, but it was delicious and went well with alcohol. The potato salad was topped with soft-boiled egg and pickled fish, and it was quite heavy. The atmosphere and music in the restaurant were stylish, and I would like to visit again.

I went around 5 pm. There were a few seats available, so I was able to get in without waiting! The garlic chive ohitashi was no longer available, so they suggested, "Would you like some delicious watercress instead?" The thick and tender watercress was delicious, with a juicy texture when bitten into.

Located in a small alley near Kawaramachi Marutamachi. I entered at 5 pm on a Saturday and it was already almost full. They don't take reservations, so I was lucky to find an open table. The menu is not too extensive, making it easy for indecisive people to choose. Menu items include Ufufu potato salad with heshiko oil, Hattori-san's oboro tofu from Nanzenji, Keiko's tail stew, fermented cabbage shumai, shrimp and basil spring rolls, and a cheese cake for dessert. The tail stew is quite filling and satisfying with plenty of vegetables. You can choose between red or white wine.

The interior of the store was bright and had a nice atmosphere. The staff were friendly and their service was impressive. What stood out to me the most was the shrimp spring rolls. I was curious about what they would look like, and when they arrived, I thought they were cute! They were also incredibly delicious. I would definitely visit again if I have the chance. ^_^

The owner honed their cooking skills at the popular restaurant "Tsukemono Isoism" in Kyoto's Nanajo district, and then operated a pop-up shop at another popular restaurant, "Teppan and Sake Muneya," specializing in serving Japanese food ingredients as sandwich fillings. Finally, they opened their long-awaited actual store in Marutamachi, offering a menu based on the concept of "comforting appetizers and sake rooted in home cooking." The renovated old folk house, which used to be a guesthouse, provides a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The gentle and welcoming service from the owner's wife is also lovely. Orders included the "Ufufu Potato Salad with Heshiko Oil" for 650 yen, the famous "Keiko's Tail Stew" (recreated from the owner's mother's recipe) in a small size for around 750 yen, the "Slightly Aged Winter Yellowtail with Sudachi" for 700 yen, and a Highball for 550 yen. They open from 2 pm, making it a great spot for daytime drinking as well, with customers steadily coming in from 2 pm onwards. A restaurant from a member of the popular Kyoto group "Gojusai Group" is definitely a safe bet!

It's nice to be able to drop by casually for lunch! Had 2 highballs, shirako ponzu, and nukazuke. The restaurant and staff were lovely. It was a quick visit this time, but I would love to go back again.

The other day, I had a record of wanting alcohol for every menu. The wine was also delicious. There are still many menus that I am curious about, so I would like to revisit.

It is convenient that you can drink from lunchtime.
