The owner of the restaurant seems to be a fan of Hawaii, as the atmosphere in the restaurant gives off a vibe that you might expect to find hamburgers or loco moco rather than ramen. It was a very Hawaiian setting until the ramen was served. Now, let's talk about the ramen. First, the soup was a perfect balance of sharp soy sauce with a mellow chicken broth and chicken oil. The fried leeks added a crispy and flavorful touch, and the yuzu peel provided a refreshing finish to the rich soy sauce broth. Moving on to the noodles, they were made of whole wheat flour and had a firm texture. The wheat flavor of the noodles combined well with the chicken broth, enhancing the overall taste of the dish. The toppings included a seasoned soft-boiled egg and thinly sliced bamboo shoots, which were salted to my liking. The chashu was tender and fell apart easily, with a subtle flavor. The duck chashu had a soft skin but a rich duck meat filling. For rice dishes, we ordered Spam rice balls and Onsen Tamago Onion Chashu Don. The Spam rice balls were seasoned with seasoned kelp and shiso leaves, giving them a Japanese twist. The Chashu Don had a well-mixed combination of chashu and onions, with the addition of a soft-boiled egg creating a creamy texture. I visited the restaurant "Hulu-lu" with a rating of 3.77 on Tabelog's Top 5000 in 2023. The location is near Ikebukuro West Exit, a little walk from the station. It is located near the popular yakiniku restaurant "Kabuto". The exterior is a corner shop facing the popular yakiniku restaurant. The interior has a Hawaiian-themed bar atmosphere, very stylish. It is a popular restaurant among regulars and has the ability to be selected in the Top 5000. I tried their Soup Curry Tsukemen and Spam Onigiri. The Soup Curry Tsukemen has a flavorful soup with spicy spices and minced meat as an accent. You can choose the noodle size from regular, medium, to large, and it is categorized as slightly thick straight noodles. The toppings include rare chashu, daikon radish sprouts, and lemon, which are delicious and show a high level of completion. On a hot summer day, the spicy Soup Curry Tsukemen is excellent. A great accompaniment is the Spam Onigiri, a fantastic combination that explains its popularity. Overall, it is a great restaurant.

On hot days, tantan noodles are the best choice! The one here has soy milk in it, making it very mild! Even though it looks spicy, I, who can't handle spicy food, was able to slurp it all up, soup included! I like ramen that I can finish completely. The store has a Hawaiian style, with staff wearing aloha shirts, surfing documentaries playing inside, and a wooden counter creating a great atmosphere! It's easy to enter as there are many couples, which is a big plus!

At Menya Hulu-lu, a charity ramen called "Ahipoki SOBA (cold)" was offered in response to the fire on Maui Island. Despite lining up one hour before opening, there were already two customers ahead. The ramen consists of yellowfin tuna, salmon, scallops, avocado, seafood sauce, wasabi, and bonito-flavored oil underneath the noodles. It is essentially a mixed bowl version of poke don. The noodles are cold, but probably just slightly cooled with water so the temperature is lukewarm. The fish flavor is rich and luxurious with each bite. The sauce is a bit light in flavor and lacks a strong wasabi kick, so a bit more intensity in the sauce would be better. Ordering extra noodles resulted in a larger proportion of noodles to toppings, causing the flavors to be slightly diluted. The noodles are medium thickness and slightly white, giving a sensation similar to slurping udon noodles. Menya Hulu-lu is known for its numerous limited-time offerings, and this irregular limited edition ramen is no exception. Looking forward to trying the next irregular limited edition ramen!

Soy sauce ramen spam set for 1150 yen. I went during a time when they had just opened, so even though it was a Saturday, it wasn't crowded. It was my first time trying it, and it had a light flavor that didn't feel heavy like regular ramen. There were finely chopped pieces of yuzu on top, giving it a subtle yuzu fragrance. Overall, it was a simple and delicious taste.

The restaurant closes at 3:00 pm, but I arrived at 3:03 pm and managed to get in. I saw a scene in a manga where the characters finished their meal at this place, making it a popular spot. However, in the anime, it was a different restaurant. I ordered the soy sauce soba spam set from the ticket machine and imagined having a meal with Marine-chan and Wakana-kun in the stylish interior while waiting for my ramen. This area is great for both leisure and relaxation, making it a recommended spot for dates. After eating a special dish at Kinjii, I took the spam onigiri wrapped in plastic wrap home. I finished my ramen completely and found "mahalo" at the bottom of the bowl. Thank you as well!

At Menya Hulu-lu, after nine years! I tried the Italian-style chilled SOBA, which is basically a ramen version of prosciutto caprese. It is very cold with lots of ice, almost "numbing" cold. It might make you shiver a bit, especially on a slightly cool day like today. I recommend slurping it down during the peak of summer. The review from nine years ago mentioned a strong vinegar acidity, but this time I didn't feel it as much. Did they update the recipe? Or maybe my taste buds have dulled? If I had to say, I wish they would increase the amount of prosciutto even if it means raising the price. Or maybe offer additional topping choices. Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku, is a popular spot for gourmet dining. One such place is "Menya Hulu-Ariku," which has been featured in the top 500 on Tabelog and the top 100 from 2017 to 2021. The interior of the restaurant has a Hawaiian theme. I chose the salt soba, which was basic but delicious. The reason it made it to the top 100 must be due to its other unique menu items. They also offer Hawaii's No. 1 craft beer and a variety of appetizers.

Finally made it! I heard it was far, and it really was. Going in the middle of summer was a bit tough because of the heat, with 5 groups waiting in line. Once inside the shop, it felt like I was in Hawaii, even though I've never been there! The menu seemed to change daily, with a wide variety of eye-catching options. I tried the classic salt soba, which had a nice aroma and smooth noodles that went down well. It wasn't mind-blowing, but it had a comforting taste. I couldn't stop eating and ended up having a second bowl. It's a bit far, so I might not go often, but I highly recommend it to those who are nearby or have time to spare in Ikebukuro. There are many ramen shops in Ikebukuro, but if you want a relaxing atmosphere and a ramen that everyone will enjoy, this is the place to go. I'd like to come back in a cooler season to try a different menu!

On Saturday around 7pm, I parked at the parking lot of Kadokawa Sakura Town and visited Ramen Walker. This week, I visited Menya Hulu-lu in Toshima-ku, Tokyo (nearest station: Ikebukuro). I often transfer at Ikebukuro station and have been wanting to go there. Finally, I was able to eat there. The soy sauce ramen with burnt green onions was delicious. The spam onigiri was also tasty. Next time, I will visit the restaurant itself.

This summer feels particularly hot... I don't usually eat cold dishes, but I decided to try the chilled noodles at Furu. The tomato and prosciutto with the cold soup really cooled me down from the inside out, haha. By the time I finished eating, I had goosebumps! I wanted to drink more of the soup, but it got too cold and I couldn't finish it. It was delicious, but I still prefer hot soup with my ramen! Furu is all about the spicy noodles for me ✨

I ordered the 1200 yen spicy dipping noodles with Spam set. The Spam was served first, nicely prepared to eliminate any strong smell and easy to eat. It has a subtle flavor that doesn't overpower the upcoming dipping noodles. The dipping noodle soup arrived next, with a good level of spiciness. It features the umami of yuzu peel, onions, and a base of soy sauce chicken broth. It was quite delicious. Eating it with the mustard greens added a hint of bitterness that complemented the flavor well. I didn't encounter the common issue of overly thick dipping noodle soup that many top shops have had recently. The staff, consisting of 4 members, seemed busy but the quick turnover of customers was impressive. Overall, it was a tasty meal. Thank you for the meal.

The other day I had cold noodles at Fururu, so today I tried their dipping noodles. It was Dipping Noodles Day on Fridays, so I decided to give it a try. I arrived a little before 12 pm on a weekday and the restaurant was full, so I waited outside on a bench for about 5 minutes. [Ordered Items] Soup Curry Dipping Noodles Spam Set - 1,200 yen There were other options like miso and spicy, but I'm not a fan of spicy food. The dipping noodles arrived, with the soup curry in a cup - very stylish. The soup curry was on the sweeter side. When I dipped the noodles and tried them, they were delicious. I got so caught up in eating the noodles that I completely forgot about the Spam. As I write this now, I regret not trying dipping the Spam in the soup. It would have been good even without that though. I ended up finishing all the noodles and soup, enjoying every last drop. Thank you for the meal.

I went there again! I had the salt ramen for 900 yen. The soup had a strong initial saltiness, but it was well-balanced with the sweetness and umami of the onions, the richness of the floating scallion oil, and a refreshing finish with yuzu peel, shredded red pepper, and trefoil. The thin slices of chashu pork were delicious when eaten with the noodles. Delicious.

Spam onigiri with shiso and kombu is tasty. The ramen with tofu tan-tan noodles is very good! It was my first time trying tofu tan-tan noodles, and they were delicious. The soup is not too heavy, so you can easily drink it all up. It has a good kick of spices and different aromas with each sip. I wanted to lick the bowl clean at the end, instead of using water. The chashu was tender. There was a wait of about 5 people, but I would go back even if I had to wait in the hot sun. It was a lovely restaurant that made me feel like I was in Hawaii.

Hello everyone. ZMA here. This time, I visited a restaurant called "Menya Hululu" in Ikebukuro based on the recommendation of a follower. Opened in 2012, the former head chef of the late famous restaurant "Yanmen Chabuya" in Gokokuji opened this ramen shop in Ikebukuro, inspired by his love for Hawaii. The interior is filled with Hawaiian vibes! The recommended dish is the Spam rice ball set, but since it was the last meal after drinking, I decided to go with the default option this time. I will try the Soy Sauce Soba for 750 yen. It has a beautiful presentation. The soy sauce soup with burnt shallots floating on top smells wonderful. Now, let's try the soup. The clear soy sauce soup is light yet rich in flavor, which is very satisfying. The noodles are thin and firm, perfectly soaking up the soup. The toppings include chashu, kaiware, and menma, keeping it simple. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I want to try the Spam rice ball and eat it with the soup. When I arrived at the shop around noon on Saturday, there were about 7 people lined up in front of the shop. The line didn't move for a while, maybe because it had just rotated... I waited for almost 20 minutes. I was guided inside and purchased a meal ticket. The interior of the shop was like a cafe, very cozy and comfortable for eating. The counter was spacious, and it had a relaxing atmosphere that made me want to linger. The ramen was simply delicious! I ordered the soy sauce SOBA, and the soup was especially tasty. During the meal, I could smell the scent of yuzu, and the flavor subtly changed, which was charming. The portion of the ramen was just right. The staff at the shop were also very friendly, and it seemed like a place where a woman could enter alone without any worries. I would love to go there again!

We went to the second izakaya of the night. It was right before closing time, but as expected of the most popular spot in Ikebukuro, the place was packed. I had the soy sauce spam onigiri set. The onigiri came first while waiting for the ramen. The ramen was soy sauce flavored, refreshing, and had a unique taste.
