hokurohiro
The restaurant is located on the second floor and you have to climb an external staircase to get there. The place is spacious and relaxing, with a slightly upscale feel compared to a typical izakaya. The staff, although athletic, are very friendly and welcoming. Today, I tried the Awa pork and Awa chicken course (3,280 yen). If you don't need the Awa chicken, there is also a 2,280 yen course available, so the prices are not too high. The menu includes 12 items such as cucumber and hijiki simmered dish, pork shabu-shabu (loin and belly), Awa chicken, chicken meatballs, meatballs, shrimp dumplings, vegetable rolls, mochi skewers, assorted vegetables, Kyoto tofu, ramen, and dessert (yuzu sherbet and syrup fruits). The meat is delicious, but the other hot pot ingredients are a bit small and don't stand out much. Personally, I think the meat, plenty of vegetables, and tofu are enough. However, the ponzu and sesame sauces were delicious, especially the ponzu which was sweet and tangy. The Andes salt for the meat was also tasty. The ramen at the end, with just the hot pot broth, was surprisingly good with a Japanese-style soup and corn that complemented well. The boiled egg was a nice touch. I left feeling full and satisfied. I recommend trying this place, especially in the upcoming season.
