To my always indecisive friend, a great souvenir from Kyo-Yashiki San in Kyoto Station area. This time, I recommend the rice crackers from Ogurayama-so. The "Teikas Tsuki (salad rice cracker)" and "Teikas no Okiniiri (curry rice cracker)" are both delicious and affordable. One costs 648 yen (including 8% tax) and the other costs 594 yen (including 8% tax). Especially the curry one is spicy and flavorful, not just Teika's favorite, but mine too!

I visited the Ogurasanso at JR Kyoto Isetan on one of their random days (10th, 20th, 30th of every month) and bought their popular Ogurasanso sweets assortment. I used the Mitsukoshi Isetan shareholder discount card for 10% off and also used a department store gift card for payment, which was a good deal. When I got home and tried the sweets, as always, I enjoyed the Teikei no Tsuki series the most. The only downside is that it's difficult to visit on their random days.

At the Jyayar Kyoto Isetan, Kokurayamaso offers an assortment of sweets on the 10th, 20th, and 30th of every month. I happened to be here on one of those days, so I decided to stop by. I purchased an assortment of Kokurayamaso sweets. I used the Mitsukoshi Isetan shareholder discount card for 10% off, and then used a department store gift card for payment, which was a good deal. When I got home and tried the sweets, I found that I still prefer the Teika's Moon series. The only downside is that the random selection days don't always align with my schedule.

At the JR Kyoto Isetan department store, Kokurayamaso offers a selection of sweets every 2nd, 4th, 10th, 20th, and 30th of the month. I happened to be there on one of those days and decided to stop by. I purchased a variety of sweets from Kokurayamaso. I used my Mitsukoshi Isetan shareholder discount card for 10% off and then used a department store gift card, so it was a good deal. When I got home and tried the sweets, I found that I particularly enjoyed the Teika's Moon series. While the no-selection days offer cheaper prices, the downside is that it's not always easy to visit on those specific days.

I stopped by Okura Sanso at JR Kyoto Isetan, where they have special sales on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. I bought a variety of Okura Sanso sweets this time. I used Mitsukoshi Isetan's shareholder discount card for 10% off and then used a department store gift card for payment, so it was a good deal. When I got home and tried them, I personally liked the Teika no Tsuki the best. It's cheaper on the days with no selection, but those days are usually on weekdays, so it's hard to find time to go.

I went on a regular night. The Isetan in Kyoto Station has a wide selection of sweets, and I was having trouble deciding what to buy when a store clerk recommended a brand I had never seen before, so I decided to buy it. I bought the signature soy sauce rice crackers. They come in a pack of 10, with 2 crackers in each pack, and cost around 600 yen. They are sweet soy sauce rice crackers, and they are quite large. They are sprinkled with seaweed. The taste was delicious, but they were slightly moist. This might be how this type of rice cracker is supposed to be, but I prefer crispy, spicy rice crackers, so it wasn't really to my liking.

I visited the Kozan-so at JR Kyoto Isetan for their 7-day appreciation festival at the end of March. They were selling assorted rice crackers, and I decided to buy two sets of Kozan-so sweets and a special seaweed rice cracker that is only available during this time of the year. I used my Mitsui-Isetan shareholder discount card for 10% off and also used a department store gift card for payment, which was a great deal. When I tried them at home, they were all delicious, but personally, I liked the seaweed rice cracker the most. Assorted rice crackers are usually affordable, but they are not available often, so having a 7-day event like this was much appreciated.

I visited Ogurasanso at JR Kyoto Isetan on the first day of the month's no-selection day, which runs from the 26th to the 31st of December. There was a long line as the items are sold at a different location from the usual sales area. I bought three Ogurasanso sweets assortments. With a 10% discount using the Mitsukoshi Isetan shareholder benefit card and a department store gift card, it was a good deal. When I got home and tried them, I personally liked the one with the moon motif. No-selection days offer cheaper prices, but they usually fall on weekdays, making it difficult to visit.

I visited Ogurayama-so at Daimaru Kyoto for their special sale on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, which happened to coincide with a holiday this time. The items on sale are different from the regular menu and are sold near the entrance. I bought a variety of items and Kyoto's light flower with Aosa seaweed this time. I used the Mitsukoshi Isetan shareholder discount card for a 10% discount and then used a department store gift card, so it was a good deal. When I got home and tried the food, I personally preferred the Tsukumaro by Teika and the one with Aosa seaweed. The items on sale are cheaper during the special sale days, but it's usually on weekdays, so it's not easy to visit often.

I decided to stop by again because the snacks I bought last time were tastier than I expected. This time, I bought a box with three different types of rice crackers, curry senbei, and Gurayama Shunshu. I used my Mitsukoshi Isetan shareholder discount card for a 10% discount, and then paid with a department store gift card, so it was a good deal. When I got home, I tried a variety of snacks. They were all tastier than regular rice crackers and senbei, probably because they were a bit more expensive. However, the limited edition snacks were the most delicious. I would like to try buying them again on a random day in the future.

There used to be a department store nearby with a shop that sold rice crackers, but the prices were high so I didn't use it much. However, now they are only available in Kyoto and there was a limited-time event, so I decided to buy some. There were various types available. This time, I bought a mix of different kinds, a limited-time special of random nori seaweed senbei, and a maple-flavored senbei. I used a Mitsukoshi Isetan shareholder discount card for a 10% discount, then paid with a department store gift card, so it was a good deal. When I got home, I tried a variety of them. As expected, they were all tastier than regular rice crackers. The most delicious ones were the random nori seaweed senbei and the maple-flavored senbei. I couldn't stop eating them once I started. There are still many types left, so I want to take my time and enjoy them.

I visited in April 2020. I bought the Sakura Momiji Senbei for 432 yen as a souvenir from Ogura Sanso. It looks cute just by looking at it. When I ate it at home, it was delicious in both appearance and taste. Kyoto is known for Yatsuhashi and sweets, but I also recommend arare.

Arare from Ogurayama-so, offered during the Bon festival. It contains various types of arare, which is irresistible for those who like it. It's a delightful snack to have when feeling a little hungry. It's even more appreciated when received from a temple.

I received a gift from an acquaintance... a selection of snacks from Ogura Sanso. I always thought of Ogura Sanso as known for their bite-sized rice crackers, but this time it was a bag of cookies! The cookies were delicious - a crispy pie cookie with a thick layer of white chocolate in between. They were tasty and had great value for the price. I think I might use these as souvenirs too! 😊

I received a gift from this shop, which included a set of summer-themed snacks. One was a senbei assortment called "Kaze Soyogu" with various flavors like seaweed, shrimp, black sesame, yuzu honey, sansho pepper, sweet soy sauce, nori seaweed, and Tamba black soybeans. The other was a Tamba black soybean jelly dessert. I enjoy these senbei snacks as they are rich in variety and suitable for gifts due to their price and quantity. Thank you for the treat!

I often receive Kyoto senbei and rice crackers from the brand Ogura Sanso, which I always enjoy. The most representative one is "Ogura Mountain Shunju." Among their senbei series, "Teikas Moon" is a special senbei with a moon theme. I tried the Salad and Wasanbon flavors out of the three sweet and savory options. There is also one with shrimp flavor. Their bean rice crackers are also a classic choice. All the classics are consistently good. Among them, I found the Almond rice cracker "HatanKyo" to be extremely delicious this time.

I received this as a New Year's gift!! (^O^)/The gift I received this time is the "Re-O Chocolat Series" by Ogura San Shunshu - ARARE&CHOKOLAT. It includes 4 types of rice crackers (shrimp, seaweed, almond, sesame) and 3 types of chocolate snacks (milk chocolate, 5-grain rice puff, matcha) in one set. You can enjoy both sweet and savory flavors at the same time - a dreamy combination! The rice crackers are delicious and the chocolates are also excellent. Overall, it's a great set that satisfies both sweet and savory cravings. It's a trendy and stylish rice cracker set that appeals to both young and old alike!
