I went to this place because the ice cream looked cute on Instagram haha. The matcha ice cream was smooth and milky, but also had a hint of bitterness from the matcha, which made it really delicious!! The warabi mochi on top was soft and chewy, and tasted pretty good too! I wonder if it would taste even better when freshly made. The cone seemed like a regular store-bought one. They also had different levels of matcha ice cream, so I'd like to try the other ones too someday!^.ˬ.^^.ˬ.^

I visited this shop for the first time at Nishiki Market. I ordered a matcha latte. If you need a straw, it costs an additional 1 yen. Since it's just 1 yen, I thought it was fine to just add it to the total price. The drink also comes with gum syrup, but it's already sweet enough so you can decide whether to add more based on your preference. My friend ordered a warabi mochi, and I tried a piece. It had a strong matcha flavor.

I was asked to buy matcha sweets as a souvenir, so I bought warabimochi (*´ω`*). I also ate it at home, but I forgot to take a picture of it (;´Д`) It said it was made with real warabi mochi, cut fresh on the spot, but it was already made when I got it (lol) Maybe it was close to closing time. Thank you for the meal!

It's like a shopping street in Kyoto (similar to Osu) with a huge crowd but very narrow roads! If one person stops, it gets jammed haha. And it's just a ridiculously long straight road that makes your throat dry. We happened to come across Sawawa-san. [Menu items we ordered] Matcha latte for 385 yen, Super premium matcha gelato for 660 yen. It was delicious but had a lot of ice, so it was gone after 3 sips. My friend ordered ice cream, which apparently is limited to 50 servings per day. It was rich and delicious but the price was a bit high! Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by for a break before walking back to my car. I visited a cafe on the second floor where I could sit down and eat. The matcha latte was served in a narrow glass filled with only ice, and the portion was smaller than it looked. I finished it in just two sips. The place had a nice appearance, but there was a hint of stinginess, giving off a vibe of "pretending to be refined but actually being cheap," which is very Kyoto-like. In the Nishiki Market, there are many stores catering to tourists, some of which seem to adopt a "do anything for money" attitude. The pricing of stores targeting foreign tourists is quite bold and reflects the Kyoto spirit. On the other hand, stores targeting domestic tourists try to forcefully highlight the Kyoto vibe. This experience made me realize how Japanese tourists are targeted and taken advantage of when traveling abroad. It was an interesting lesson. Thank you for the meal.

I had tea for 770 yen at Shichun during my trip to Kyoto, which made me feel like I was really in Kyoto. The tea was served in a traditional-looking cup, emphasizing the Kyoto experience. The spacious cafe on the second floor is a relaxing place to unwind. If you're looking to enjoy some matcha in a casual setting, be sure to visit.

I took a leisurely stroll through Nishiki Market♪ There are so many delicious looking things here! There are lots of matcha souvenirs lined up, but for now, I want to cool down! I bought the "Super Premium Matcha Gelato" and "Green Tea" with a matcha intensity of 5. The gelato is really rich and my tongue turned green. The green tea has a gentle sweetness that is soothing. Nishiki Market, which had regained some energy, was nice. Thank you for the meal! (๑>◡<๑)

When I visited Kyoto after a year and a half, I found a new shop at Nishiki Market! It's a matcha sweets specialty store. It's more like a place to buy matcha sweets as souvenirs, where you can also enjoy a little gelato. I tried the "Matcha Gelato No.2" for 440 yen (including 10% tax) and since a plastic spoon was 1 yen each, it was a total of 441 yen. It's a convenient shop where you can easily enjoy some treats.

I was doing a food tour and ended up at Chawawa. The interior is green-themed and looks cute and Instagram-worthy. The green tea was rich but easy to drink and delicious. I also bought some bracken rice cakes as souvenirs and they were chewy and very tasty!

The first floor was a souvenir shop and the second floor was a cafe. The matcha tart was a product sold on the first floor, but there was a notice on the second floor that it could be eaten as a set with matcha. I visited with the intention of trying it, but after that, I was satisfied and did not make a purchase. It felt like a store aimed at tourists with a strong emphasis on planning.

Returning to the Kyoto reviews. During a food tour in Kyoto in September, we were exploring Nishiki Market. We enjoyed delicious soy milk soft serve ice cream at "Konnamonja" and then visited a matcha sweets shop called "Chawawa." The shop has a first floor for takeout items and a second floor for a cafe space. We decided to sit in the cafe area, which had around 15 tables. We arrived around 11 o'clock and there was only one other group of customers. The menu offered matcha parfait, matcha anmitsu, matcha warabi mochi, matcha tiramisu, matcha roll cake, and other matcha sweets, along with matcha and Japanese tea drinks. Even though it was late September, they still had shaved ice available, so we tried that. The shaved ice was made with green tea, topped with red bean paste, matcha warabi mochi, shiratama, and chestnuts. It was sprinkled with what looked like matcha powder, but it was actually tea leaves frozen into the ice and shaved, giving a direct tea flavor. The ice itself was smooth and not too bad in texture.

In Nishiki Market, there are stylish shops that don't quite fit in, in a good way. They offer matcha gelato with four levels of matcha intensity. I had the gelato with a three-star matcha intensity. It had just the right amount of bitterness and was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

First, what you order is handed to you with a buzzer, just like you see in food courts. Even though it's not cheap, they don't bring it to you. Probably because they expect a few people to tip over their parfait each year. Also, if you order two items, they are handed to you at the same time. So if you order a parfait and a hot drink, one of them will end up ruined. If you eat the parfait first, the drink will get cold, and if you drink the hot drink first, the ice in the parfait will melt. Even though there is self-serve water, you can't get it when you order. When I asked for water, I was told it's in the center, but I still couldn't get any. In my case, the water was too thin, so I was left wondering what to say about it cooling down and settling.
