A friend of mine who claims to be a chocolate parfait otaku said that the best chocolate parfait in Japan was at this Parfait de Roi. I had always wanted to try it, and finally, I was able to visit the place. They issue tickets at the store, and when your turn comes, they call you via email, which is a convenient system. I wandered around Marunouchi while waiting, which was nice because there are other famous shops nearby like Échiré and Rose Bakery. I was called in earlier than expected, in about an hour. The parfait I ordered was the Parfait de Roi Été for 2596 yen, and I also got the Chocola Nespa?! for 990 yen. The shop offers completely different parfaits each season, and since it was the peak of summer in August, there were plenty of citrus fruits in the parfait. The price of over 2500 yen for a parfait might seem high, but when you see the detailed illustration in the second image, you will understand. Each layer and topping is meticulously crafted and of high quality, but the most surprising thing is the depth of flavor when all the layers mix together. For example, there is super high-cacao ice cream in the middle, which blends with layers of lime-flavored sponge, lemon paste, and grapefruit jelly. The shock when the cocoa flavor emerges amidst the citrus layers is incredible. Every bite was delicious, and it felt like a perfectly calculated course of flavors. Despite its generous size, the parfait ended with a refreshing blood orange jelly at the bottom, allowing me to finish it without feeling overwhelmed. I was particularly impressed by the chocolate chip blood orange sorbet and the super high-cacao ice cream. I would love to try the autumn parfait when the season changes. It was a very hot day, so I tried the Chocola Nespa?! drink made from cocoa beans, which had a surprising sparkling and transparent appearance. It wasn't as sweet as soda but had a refreshing yet mysteriously chocolaty taste. The name means "Chocola, isn't it?!" and it perfectly captured the surprise factor in its taste. On a side note, the chocolate cake besides the parfait was also incredibly delicious. My friend ordered the "Al Cioccolato," a nut-filled chocolate sweet, and was ecstatic about the hazelnuts in it. I have visited several famous dessert shops, but this is the first time I felt like I must visit this place again. It was truly a satisfying experience at this top-notch dessert shop. Thank you for the meal!
