大哉心乎
[July 6, 2014 Revisited] I received my shareholder benefits this year, so I remembered Jolly Pasta and decided to visit with my family of three. This time, I had the "Bacon Pizza" for 490 yen and the "Five Vegetable and Pancetta Spaghetti Aglio e Olio" for 890 yen. The bacon pizza had a thin and crispy crust, allowing you to taste the cheese and bacon directly. It's a good balance. Unlike delivery pizzas with thick crusts, this pizza is light enough to be shared as a side dish with pasta. The price is reasonable too. The Five Vegetable and Pancetta Spaghetti Aglio e Olio looked like a healthy dish with lots of vegetables. I couldn't quite identify the fifth vegetable, besides the red and yellow bell peppers, spinach, and onions. The pancetta was thinly sliced and mixed well with the pasta. However, the dish turned out slightly watery, probably due to the abundance of vegetables. Personally, I'm not a fan of spinach in pasta due to its bitterness. Maybe it's just my childlike taste buds (laughs). Overall, I usually pay with cash only a little at Jolly Pasta, which makes it one of my favorite places. Thank you for the meal.
[September 2013] Using Zencho's shareholder benefits, I occasionally visit Jolly Pasta, a restaurant located at the intersection of National Route 9 and Katsuragawa Kaido. This time, I had the Bacon Spaghetti Aglio e Olio for 580 yen and the Bacon Pizza for 480 yen. The pasta was cooked al dente, with a good amount of garlic and chunky bacon. I thought the bacon could have been cooked a bit longer to bring out more flavor, but it was still satisfying. The pizza had a thin and crispy crust, baked in a stone oven. For the price of 480 yen, it was more than enough. Personally, I prefer crispy crust pizzas, but this one felt more authentic. Compared to other pasta chain restaurants, I think Jolly Pasta is doing a good job. Their noodles are tastier than those at Saizeriya, and for 580 yen, you get a generous portion of bacon in your pasta. It's impressive how they manage to offer such quality at a reasonable price. Japan is truly a great country where you can enjoy such meals at affordable prices. Thank you for the meal.
