First visit. Enjoyed chicken skin namero and gizzard skin while drinking beer, and ordered about 10 skewers omakase style. Each skewer was elegant, but the harami had a strong and delicious flavor. Paired with their homemade wine, it was a nice and quiet place to relax. Would love to go back again.

As you walk down the narrow streets typical of Kyoto, you come across a large noren curtain quietly standing in the silence. You enter through it and find yourself in a concrete, minimalist interior with a few seats lined up at the counter. It's a yakitori restaurant, but the atmosphere is calm and relaxed. Whether you're dining alone, quietly enjoying your meal, or chatting with friends, the cozy ambiance is perfect. The owner and customers engage in casual conversations, adding to the welcoming atmosphere.
On this particular day, I decided to leave it up to the chef after indicating how much I could eat and what I felt like having. Here's what I enjoyed:
- Appetizer
- Omi chicken thigh
- Omi black chicken tenderloin
- Tsukune (chicken meatballs)
- Boneless chicken wings
- Chicken hearts
- Gizzard
- Whole green pepper
- Chicken soup
- Grilled rice ball
The variety of chicken types and cuts is impressive, and everything is delicious and easy to order. One thing I noticed is that the dishes were a bit salty for someone like me who doesn't drink alcohol. The soup and grilled rice ball were also on the salty side. Overall, it was a great experience, but a little less salt would have made it even better. The restaurant is tucked away in a quiet alley, away from the hustle and bustle, providing a peaceful dining experience. However, due to its popularity, it can be difficult to make a reservation. I love the hidden gem vibe of this place.
Thank you for the meal!

There are many famous yakitori restaurants in Kyoto, but this one stands out for its courage to open in such a competitive area. The young owner started the restaurant with self-taught skills and created a stylish and welcoming atmosphere. While they seem to be doing well, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

Fumikojidori Ayanokoji Shita is a hidden gem yakitori restaurant located in a narrow alley. The warm light welcomes you as you enter the cozy place. The interior has a modern feel and the young chef is friendly and attentive. We tried a variety of yakitori dishes, including Omi duck and Omi black chicken, both with excellent meat quality and perfectly cooked rare. The prices are reasonable. We look forward to trying other dishes besides yakitori next time!

The quality of the ingredients and the way it is cooked are both top-notch for this yakitori restaurant! 🔥
