The TV program featured a transformation of an izakaya into a curry restaurant and then a spice ramen shop. I arrived a little early and was seated under the eaves by the staff. I ordered the Garlic Spice Ramen for 1000 yen and the izakaya set meal for 300 yen. The chef and the hostess, whom I had seen on TV, prepared the food. The izakaya side dishes included boiled spinach, shishito peppers, and marinated baby sardines. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, tender and flavorful. The grated yam was delicious when poured over rice. It paired well with the soup curry, allowing for a variety of flavors. The spice ramen had a nostalgic taste, reminiscent of soup curry with flat noodles, and was accentuated with garlic chips and grated radish. I hope they continue to do well in the future.

Visited around 11:40 am on a Sunday. There were 2 other customers. I ordered the Spice Ramen for 900 yen including tax. The dish arrived in about 5 minutes. It looked nice with eggplant, tomato, baby corn, char siu, and a half-boiled egg on top. The soup was fairly light in flavor with not much spice. The broth was also not very rich. It was not very spicy either. The noodles were unique, with ridges and a polygon shape to easily soak up the soup. They were quite soft. Compared to the Spice Ramen at Spice Hana Men Kyoudai, this place had less impact overall. However, if you prefer milder spice levels or are not a fan of strong spices, this place might be more suitable for you.

Today, I went to a curry ramen restaurant near Kami-Katsura Station on the Hankyu Arashiyama Line.
Miyamoto Curry is a shop with an impressive sign that says "Limited to 50 servings per day." It seems to have gained attention after appearing on a TV program. Originally starting as an "obanzai" shop, it converted to a "curry shop" and then reopened as a "curry ramen shop" on April 3, 2023.
The signature dish, Spice Ramen, starts at 900 yen. The short menu under the ceiling features various variations of Spice Ramen. Miyamoto Curry started as an obanzai shop, so the "Set Meal Set (+300 yen)" which includes obanzai and grated yam rice is recommended.
On the visit day, there was also a menu for curry rice. I debated between getting a set meal or a curry set. Encouraged by a staff member who said, "Green curry is recommended," I chose the curry set this time.
- Spice Ramen: A ramen with a base of tea-based curry soup, topped with young corn, eggplant, tomato, chashu, and egg. The soup is a light curry soup with a complex flavor of chicken broth umami and original spices. The noodles were unique with a wave-like shape in the middle to easily absorb the soup.
- Green Curry: This curry comes with side dishes like kinpira and bamboo shoots, making it unique. The curry rice seemed to be in a mini size. The green curry has a lovely spicy aroma with a gradual spiciness. The texture of kinpira burdock, konjac, and dried baby sardines was enjoyable, especially the crunchy texture of the bamboo shoots.
The combination of obanzai, curry, and ramen at this shop felt harmoniously intertwined. It was delicious and satisfying.

The noodles have a unique spice ramen. I couldn't help but imagine soup curry, so I also added a side of rice. The taste is quite common, with mild spiciness and spice. It's not bad, but the flavor may be divisive. The presentation is beautiful with a variety of colors, but it's a shame that there isn't any standout ingredient. This ramen was featured on TV and created as part of a comeback plan by a consultant, so maybe the expectations were set too high, but it certainly generates buzz.

I visited the restaurant at 1:30 PM on April 3rd, where it has been renovated from a curry specialty shop to a spice ramen shop. I ordered the "Spice Ramen" (900 yen) after looking at the menu. The bowl was topped with chashu, tomato, eggplant, baby corn, flavored egg, and chopped green onions, and the soup had a spicy aroma. The light soup made from chicken bones was finished with spices, giving it a slightly spicy kick as an accent. The soup was light and reminiscent of soup curry. The noodles were wing noodles, with a firm and chewy texture that held the soup well with its uneven surface. The tomato had a mild acidity and a fresh taste, while the baby corn, chopped green onions, and deep-fried eggplant added a crunchy texture that complemented the curry soup. The chashu was made from rolled pork belly, with a firm texture and a rich meaty flavor, while the flavored egg had a semi-soft yolk. The Spice Ramen lived up to its name, with a spicy aroma throughout.

In September 2023, for dinner, I visited Matsuzakaya Ueno store located near JR Okachimachi Station. They were hosting a food fair featuring delicious products from all over Japan, including a collaboration with a TV show. I tried the Kyoto-style Spice Ramen from Miyamoto Curry, which was flavorful and had a unique taste. The ramen was served with plenty of Kyoto vegetables and had a good balance of spice and richness. The noodles were chewy and went well with the soup. The toppings like enoki mushrooms and pickled vegetables added a nice touch to the dish. Overall, it was a great experience trying out this special ramen at the event.
