I went to Kenkun Shrine in Kyoto to get the last Nobunaga stamp of the year. As a reward for the year, I went to Tsuji Hana, which was very delicious last time. 11:55 Entered the store, sat down, and ordered 12:00~ Food arrived 【Summary】Curry Ramen Ramen course meal. Started with a sake called Jurakudai, just like last time. The appetizer was Hokkaido sea urchin and cream cheese tofu with soy sauce jelly, which was very good. The main curry ramen had a soup with a striking sweetness of onions and spices, along with a lovely combination of toppings. The Kyoto Akachidori terrine and red onion jam that came out as an appetizer last time were a nice break. The dessert, although small, was diverse and charming. Hojicha Stout The roasted aroma of hojicha and the richness of black beer go well together. 【Details】Curry Ramen 3500 yen Ramen course meal. I (pre-meal sake) Jurakudai, just like last time, delicious. Appetizer (Hokkaido sea urchin and cream cheese tofu) Cream cheese tofu with soy sauce jelly topped with sea urchin, caviar, wasabi, and turnip. The soy sauce jelly full of umami, creamy and smooth tofu, equally smooth sea urchin, and plump caviar. The umami of soy sauce is quite prominent. II (Curry Ramen) Curry Ramen Noodles Straight thin noodles with a thickness of about 1mm. The firm texture is delicious. Gradually absorbing moisture, it changes into a soft and supple texture, which is nice. Soup The curry soup with the striking sweetness of onions and spices. The texture of something melted can be felt on the tongue. The umami of soy sauce hits you at first, then the umami of salt koji and chicken, and finally the spiciness of the spices gently and surely envelops you. The complex combination of curry nuts and Japanese pepper after that is very nice. The diced beef on top is sweet and delicious. Toppings (Kyoto Akachidori chicken breast salt, Kyoto duck loin, Japanese pepper burdock, grilled white onion, Kujo green onion, curry nut spice oil) Kyoto Akachidori chicken breast salt Moist chicken breast. I was skeptical about paying ¥3500 for a course-style ramen in a private room, but after trying it, I was impressed. The toppings served on separate plates were carefully prepared, and the ramen broth was light enough to drink up but still packed with flavor. The atmosphere of the restaurant also gave off a Kyoto vibe, which was nice. I heard they also have curry, so I would like to try that next time.

Eating ramen in my room is exceptional. It's my own space and the atmosphere is really nice. Eating ramen in an old restaurant feels luxurious.

Near Kiyomizu-dera, I was looking for a place to have lunch and was intrigued by the exterior of a restaurant so I decided to go in. I ordered the Kyoto ramen with salt broth and enjoyed it with a sake appetizer of local chicken terrine and red onion jam. The ramen had a light salt flavor and I enjoyed it while adding different condiments. The shrimp nut chili oil added a delicious shrimp flavor to the ramen. Although the ramen was a bit pricey, I was able to enjoy it leisurely.

Kyoto Ramen Shio ¥2,500 - Kyoto Beer Lab Deep Steamed Tea IPA ¥1,000 - A ramen experience in Gion that feels like a kaiseki meal, with a pre-meal drink, appetizer, main ramen dish with additional toppings on the side, and dessert included. It was a hot day so I added a beer as well. Please see the menu in the photo. The appetizer of red onion jam was delicious and raised my expectations. The main ramen had a refined Japanese broth with slightly chewy thin noodles, which was very tasty. I enjoyed trying different flavors by adding the toppings one by one. The duck breast and wasabi jelly topping left a lasting impression. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I heard that a new restaurant serving high-end ramen and curry has opened in Higashiyama, Kyoto, and decided to visit 【Kyoto Men Gion Higashiyama Tsujibana】. The restaurant, which was renovated from a traditional Japanese restaurant in October 2021, is located in a building that resembles an old folk house. Upon arrival, I took off my shoes at the entrance and was escorted to my room. I ordered the Kyoto Men for 2200 yen from the menu. First, a pre-meal drink was served. Then came the appetizer, which included Kyoto Akadori terrine, red onion jam, duck, and chicken chashu. The ramen was then served, featuring medium-thin noodles from Tokiwa. The noodles were deliciously firm. The soup was a refined chicken shoyu broth, with a subtle soy sauce aroma. It seemed to contain dried seafood, providing a refreshing yet slowly spreading umami flavor. Dessert was also included at the end. Considering the concept and location, this restaurant seems likely to be popular among tourists. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Today, I visited "Kyoto Ramen Gion Higashiyama Tsujibana," which was featured in a certain magazine. Located in Gion, the restaurant exudes a traditional Kyoto atmosphere. I felt a bit nervous as I entered the small pathway from Higashiyama Street. The staff kindly took my shoes and led me to a tatami room where a graceful waitress attended to me. I was instructed to place my order by scanning a QR code, a common practice in the current COVID-19 situation to minimize conversation. I opted for the ramen course, which included a mini sake cup, appetizer, ramen, and toppings. The sake, "Jurakudai," was a delightful junmai ginjo. The ramen soup had a strong soy sauce flavor with a hint of chicken, and the toppings, especially the dried fish, nuts, and sansho pepper oil, added a delicious accent. The grilled chicken thigh in soy sauce was also tasty. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience.

The course includes a welcome drink, appetizer, main dish (ramen or black curry), and dessert, all for 2200 yen including tax. - Welcome Drink: "Jurakudai" from Sasaki Shuzo, the main product of Sasaki Sake Brewery, the family of Kuranosuke Sasaki. - Appetizer: Terrine of Kyoto Akadori chicken with red onion jam. - Soy Sauce Ramen: A soy sauce clear broth made with Tanba black chicken, blended with 4 types of soy sauce including Kyoto Matsuno soy sauce and 50 types of salt. This restaurant was renovated from a Japanese restaurant to a noodle and curry shop on October 20th. When I arrived at the store at the opening time of 11:00, there were no other customers, and I was allowed to choose between counter seats and table seats. I decided to sit at a table. The menu consists of only two items, noodles and curry, each consisting of an aperitif, appetizer, main dish, and dessert. This time, I chose the "Kyoto Noodles" (2,200 yen). The first drink brought to me was "Jurakudai," a sake made from the actor Kuranosuke Sasaki's family. It was a sharp and delicious dry sake. Next, the appetizer, soy sauce ramen, and toppings were served on a tray. The appetizer was a terrine of Kyoto Akadori chicken with red onion jam, which had a refreshing taste with a hint of acidity. The soy sauce ramen had a sharp soy sauce flavor and a light Japanese taste. The noodles were special noodles from Menya Teioku, with a crispy texture and a taste reminiscent of Japanese soba. The toppings included "Kyoto duck breast with gold leaf, Kyoto Akadori chicken breast salt, grilled thigh soy sauce, Parmesan senbei, burdock simmered in soy sauce, burdock sauce, grilled white onion, dried fish and nutmeg wasabi oil, and Kyogoku green onion." The building has a lot of character and is quite stylish. It's a modern ramen and curry restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. The ramen set is served like a course meal, with delicious appetizers and a drink before the meal. The soy sauce ramen with duck chashu served separately was beautiful and tasty.

In a corner of Gion, enjoying creative ramen in a tranquil former traditional inn. Considering the quality of ingredients and the relaxing atmosphere, it's quite reasonable in a way. The hospitality of the staff was also wonderful.
