I've been curious about this sushi and bar place for a while. It's quite an interesting combination. The menu is not fixed, so you just eat whatever they serve. If you let them know in advance, they will adjust the number of dishes for you. A shocking statement: Sorry, there is no sushi rice. Let's go with just one dish, chef! This casual atmosphere is great. The one dish turned out to be unexpectedly high quality and satisfying. The chef may look tough, but he is actually kind and funny. This is the kind of place where you can have a good conversation and feel comfortable without worrying. I would like to visit this place for a second or last time!

We had two drinks each and left with a bill of a little over 20,000 yen. We were served appetizers like tuna and sushi with about five pieces. The restaurant seems convenient so we will visit again. Thank you for the meal.

It feels like entering a snack bar inside a mixed-use building at first, but don't worry♪ When you open the door, you'll find a lovely Japanese-style space☆ Run by a friendly Japanese master and his wife who have lived in America for many years, this sushi bar has about 8 seats at the counter. The atmosphere is clean and nice. The complimentary dishes of soft-boiled octopus (Nikogori) and oysters with green onions are amazing. The soft octopus is flavorful from being boiled well. It's a sophisticated and delicious dish that goes well with drinks. The oysters are plump and the combination with green onions is great. These complimentary dishes show how thoughtful the place is. The menu is limited, but the master will recommend something good for you. The beef tataki is served with plenty of fresh vegetables, very satisfying. The simmered flounder is not too sweet, and the tofu that comes with it is a nice touch. The sushi set of 8 pieces costs 4500 yen. The quality of the fish is excellent, and I love the rice. This is a place in Gion that you can keep coming back to. It's a great place to drop by, and once you start eating, you'll want more. A bottle of shochu costs 10,000 yen, so it's worth becoming a regular customer. The wife is also very friendly and welcoming(^-^)

Introduced by a friend, I visited a sushi & bar called SPOT Master in Gion. The master is originally from Kyoto but has been working as a sushi chef in various locations in the United States for over 20 years before returning to Japan, making him a reverse import version. He is very friendly and enjoyable. As for the food, I started with a crispy spring roll filled with avocado and tuna seasoned with red miso, ginger, and garlic. The combination of the crispy texture of the spring roll skin and the spicy, creamy avocado on top was excellent. Next, I tried the Omi beef tendon stew with burdock, which was tender and not greasy at all. It paired perfectly with a rock shochu. I also had tempura and finally couldn't resist trying the sushi, which was made with carefully selected ingredients from the central market. Today's selection included medium fatty tuna, mackerel, squid, and steamed conger eel. I also enjoyed a sea bream miso soup. The master, who returned from America, is a fun and enjoyable person, but he doesn't want to emphasize that fact too much. While it may be convenient for foreign customers that he speaks English, he doesn't see his experience of making sushi in a foreign country as a selling point, especially for older Japanese customers. However, I believe that the depth of experience gained from carrying the heart of a Japanese chef abroad and showcasing Japanese food culture there, as well as observing Japan from the outside and returning, adds a unique touch to his cooking. I left Gion in autumn feeling completely satisfied.

This is a sushi restaurant in Gion. Contrary to the image of "Gion sushi = high threshold, high prices," the master here is very friendly. The sushi here is always fresh and delicious. Just ask the master for recommendations and you won't be disappointed. If available, try the California roll with avocado. I also recommend the meat dishes here, whether it's beef or pork, they are fresh and go well with drinks. The restaurant only has counter seats, so it's not suitable for large groups. I suggest making a reservation for 2-3 people and enjoy chatting with the master.

I can't believe there is such a wonderful restaurant on Gion Shinbashi Street... Honestly, it's a place I don't want to tell anyone about. I want to keep it a secret and quietly visit (or rather, I am already visiting). But, I must report that I had the most delicious and sincere sushi in Kyoto. The interior of the restaurant is modern, the owner is stylish, and the wife is cheerful and kind, making it a really cozy and cool place. It's okay for first-time visitors too. If you want to have delicious sushi in Gion, look for the green sign (with English writing) ☆ I recommend telling them your budget and leaving the appetizers and sushi up to them. They will serve you the most delicious items of the day. The reason why the budget on Tabelog seems a bit high is because I drank too much alcohol (laughs). If they increase the variety of sake, it's a 5-star rating! They are closed on Sundays~.
