I had lunch at Sushi Yaichi in Niihama-Kotoda, and then stopped by Parlor Ekoda, a popular cafe among young people in Ekoda. The cafe is located in a residential area in Nerima Ward, across from Ekoda Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. It may be a bit hard to find for those traveling from outside the area, as it is tucked away in a small corner. Upon entering the cafe, I was greeted by a display of delicious-looking bread, with a seating area for dining in the back. I first purchased some hard bread for souvenirs and then sat down to order the DOLCI drink set for 780 yen. The coffee, pecan nut tart, and dessert were all delicious with a nice balance of sweetness. However, the hard bread I bought for takeout was exceptionally delicious, especially the fig and walnut bread, which was addictive whether eaten as is or toasted. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere of the cafe was calming, making it a great place to relax when you want to be alone. It may be a bit far from Katsushika, but I would definitely visit again if given the chance. "Thank you for the meal."

For an early dinner, I went to this famous bakery for some bread. When I arrived, I saw many staff members at the entrance and thought they were closed, but they let me in. The restaurant was about 80% full. I ordered the Salsiccia set for 1727 yen with a cappuccino. After waiting for about 30 minutes, my order finally arrived. The set included two large sausages with lettuce on the side, and three different types of bread with two slices each. The bread was quite tangy and hard. It would have been better if they had brought my drink first while waiting for the sausages to warm up for 30 minutes. Waiting for 30 minutes with just water was a bit of a challenge.

On Sunday around 4 PM, I felt like having a café latte and there was a nice café nearby, so I decided to drop by. There was no waiting time, but most of the bread was already sold out! - Affogato: Bitter! Sweet! Delicious!!! It seems like there is alcohol in it, but you can't really taste the alcohol, so even if you don't like alcohol, you can enjoy it. It's really delicious! You can really taste the coffee's aroma!! I love it!! - Café Latte: Just an average café latte, nothing special to comment on! - Whole Wheat Bread: I thought it was tasty for whole wheat bread, but I prefer regular white bread, so I might not buy it again. It seems good for your health though... I just want to eat something tasty! lol By the way, this shop seems to be popular for its hard bread, so I would like to try that. The sandwiches also look delicious. - Atmosphere: The mix of Japanese and Western elements creates a very calming atmosphere. It feels like a renovated normal house. I could feel the attention to detail and it's very stylish. Plus, they have a wood stove in the shop! Amazing! - Staff: The staff is very kind. They let me choose a takeout bread while waiting for my café latte and also gave me good recommendations. I had a pretty good impression. - Overall: I heard they have a wine bar once a month on the full moon day, so I want to go check it out!! I also want to try their takeout bread, so I will definitely visit again soon.

I received a bread platter set. It came with a drink, a refreshing salad with herbs, and four types of bread, two slices each, with a choice of olive oil or butter. You can take home any leftovers. This time, I chose butter. The bread was moist and chewy, with a smooth and rich taste. I'm not a fan of hard bread, but this was delicious, with the flavors of the ingredients standing out. The fig and walnut bread was especially tasty, and I would like to buy it for takeout next time.

Located a 4-minute walk from the north exit of Ekoda Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, "Parlor Ekoda" is a bakery with a cafe that is well-known. I visited for the first time in a few years on a weekday when the shop is closed, entering at 10 am. There were 10 guests already dining in for eat-in service. I informed the staff that I would be dining in and was guided to a high chair at the counter. I ordered the delicious yogurt set for 1320 yen with an iced latte. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be served. The yogurt in the set was made from the popular Yama-chi dairy farming yogurt (100% Brown Swiss milk from the mountains of Sanryosaka in Hiroshima), which is smooth and has a mild acidity. The fruit on top was nectarine, slightly tangy and tasty. The salad included lettuce and mizuna, and the bread consisted of three types served in a basket. The bread varieties were a hard type with a great texture of raisins and walnuts, a delicious sesame roll with a nice sesame texture and aroma, and a crispy and slightly tangy ciabatta. I enjoyed tasting the popular bread from this busy shop, where take-out and eat-in customers kept coming one after another. It was a delicious meal.

Opened in 2006, Parlor Ekoda is a popular bakery located in the middle of a residential area near Ekoda Station and Shin-Sakuradai Station (relocated in 2015). Its sister store, Machi no Parlor, opened in May 2011 in Kotakimukaihara (within the grounds of a nursery school). The owner, Mr. Harada, started working as a cafe staff member at "Zopf," which greatly influenced him. The bakery opens at 8:30 in the morning and is always crowded due to its popularity for dining in. I visited just before closing time on a Sunday at around 5:40 PM, so there were only a few bread options left, but luckily, my favorite bread was still available. Even at closing time, many customers continued to arrive. The bakery mainly offers hard bread, but they also have sandwiches, quiches, and more. There is a mill on one side of the shop where they grind wheat to make some of the bread they serve. Some of the items available include: Fig and Walnut Compote for 367 yen, Cheese Rustic (Gouda Cheese) for 367 yen, Fruit Tart (Half) for 367 yen, and Pecan Nut Tart for 453 yen. The hard bread at Parlor has a crispy crust on the outside while being moist and chewy on the inside. It is flavorful and made with high-quality wheat (such as from Hokkaido). The variety of bread, with different fillings and textures, ensures that you won't get tired of it. The sandwiches are also made with care, using homemade ham, sausages, roast beef, cheese from Hachijo Island, and homemade mustard. They offer a variety of Horikoshi coffee and natural wines, making it a great place for coffee or drinks. Having Parlor nearby truly enriches one's life. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I visited the shop on a weekday morning. I was intrigued by this shop because they carried this bread at a shop in Asakusa Bridge that I had visited before. They have a cafe space where you can enjoy choosing sandwich bread, but today I opted for takeout. I bought focaccia, whole wheat petit bread, and biscotti, which were not available at the aforementioned shop. The petit bread had a soft and gentle texture, with a nice hint of whole wheat flavor. The focaccia was chewy with plenty of butter kneaded in, and it was slightly firmer than regular focaccia. The biscotti had a crunchy texture with nuts, and it had a sweetness that paired well with coffee. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Small Bamboo visited the main store of "Machi no Parlor". The bread is baked at Parlor Ekoda and brought over, so it's the same. The interior of this store is a bit small. They offer online shopping. No wait if you arrive by 12:00 on weekdays. Only one person allowed to enter at a time. - Seasonal Tart (Plum) 453 yen ☆3.5 I bought this because it was sold out at the sister store "Machi no Parlor" at 11:40. The tart has a strong sour taste from the sweet and sour plum, which goes well with the crispy sweet almond cream tart crust. It's less sweet compared to other tarts, with a strong and refreshing sourness that I like.

I had been wanting to relax at a café since before 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, but I never found the right time. I happened to be nearby for work, so I decided to get some takeout on a whim. There weren't many options left since a lot of customers had already bought items. - The Rustic pastry had a soy sauce-like flavor, even though it didn't actually contain soy sauce. When I took a bite at room temperature, it had a unique and deep taste that I had never experienced before. - The Fig and Walnut Compote was also at room temperature, making it a bit difficult to chew. It had a perfect balance of acidity from the figs, sweetness, and the nutty flavor of the walnuts, making it incredibly delicious. I wonder how much better it would taste if reheated. The ambiance of the café is also wonderful, so I think you wouldn't fully appreciate the quality unless you dine in. I hope to make time for a leisurely café visit next time.

I went to Parlor Ekoda, a place I had been wanting to visit for a while, for breakfast during my morning walk. My partner warned me that it might be crowded since it's a popular spot, but luckily we were seated at a table without waiting. We ordered a ham sandwich and a croque monsieur. After a 15-minute wait, we were served a hot croque monsieur and a slightly warm ham sandwich. The croque monsieur was like a delicious omelette you would have at a Western-style restaurant. We enjoyed eating it with a knife and fork, savoring every bite. The ham sandwich was also delicious with juicy ham and carrot salad. The coffee (I think it was named after a city in Africa) had a wonderful aroma. We both finished our breakfast and left very satisfied. We were tempted by the bread set the customer next to us ordered, but it looked plain compared to our croque monsieur, so we were glad we made the right choice. Before leaving, we asked the staff about a wine bar that opens only on the full moon day once a month. The next full moon is on August 2nd. Even though I've been eating and drinking a lot lately, having this new thing to look forward to makes it all worth it.

Arrived before 3:30 PM on Sunday. There was a one group wait. Waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The entrance and interior design of the restaurant, based on an old Japanese house, create a stylish and calming atmosphere. The menu mainly consists of Campania-style bread. I ordered Cheese Rustic and Potato and Rosemary Focaccia, totaling 734 yen including tax. When I tasted it, I appreciated the simple deliciousness of the bread itself, complemented by the seasoning. It's delicious on its own, but even better when paired with a dish.

Arriving around 12 pm on a rainy Saturday, there was a line for takeout and the cafe was full. After waiting a few minutes, I entered and bought some breakfast bread. I struggled between the Campagne bread for around 230 yen, the Fig and Walnut bread for around 320 yen, and the Blue Cheese and Walnut bread for around 340 yen. The next morning, when I cut them, the Blue Cheese and Walnut bread had a strong aroma and was delicious. The Fig bread was sweet and slightly chewy, while the Campagne bread had a simple wheat scent and paired well with soft-boiled eggs and sausages. We enjoyed eating them together, and there was enough for one more meal. It felt like a luxurious breakfast at home.

- Country-style pate sandwich (raisin yeast French bread) 840 yen The French bread is not too hard, making it easy to eat and delicious. It is filled with plenty of country-style pate, so it is quite filling. - Homemade ham sandwich (rustic bread) 840 yen The ham is light, but still has a meaty flavor, making it very delicious. The fluffy and chewy bread is also tasty. - Blue cheese walnut bread 320 yen The generous amount of blue cheese and walnuts is delicious. The bread has a slightly acidic flavor, and it is also very tasty. - Quiche with devil's eggs 540 yen This quiche is unique, with a texture like a tofu-like pudding with a lot of egg whites. It has a hint of black pepper but is lightly seasoned and easy to eat. The tart base is incredibly delicious.

[Parlor Ekoda] A bakery located about a 5-minute walk from Nishi-Seibu Ikebukuro Line Shin-Sakuradai Station! The interior of the shop has a calm atmosphere, as if renovated from an old folk house. It opens at 8:30 am and is always full from opening, being a well-known establishment selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. They offer water while you wait outside the shop, showing their excellent customer service. I visited around 10 am on a Sunday and had to wait about 30 minutes for a seat inside. Visited on 6/18/2023 at 9:45. There were two groups of customers waiting outside the store for indoor dining, with a wait time of about 30 minutes, so I decided to buy some bread to go instead. The interior of the store had a quaint old house feel. I purchased sesame bread and blue cheese walnut bread. Both breads had a sense of dedication, but they were on the hard side, so I thought they would be even more delicious if filled with ingredients or paired with soup or salad. I definitely want to revisit when I have more time.

I visited "Parlor Ekoda" that I had always wanted to visit, which is located about a 5-minute walk from Ekoda Station, 3 stations away from Ikebukuro on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. I went there to buy delicious bread for a wine tasting at home with my friends. Ekoda is known as a "bread town" with many old-fashioned shops and famous bakeries competing in the area. Despite the long lines that form from the opening at 8:30 am on weekdays and weekends, I was surprised to find no one waiting when I went. The variety of hard breads was tempting, and I particularly enjoyed the baguette and ciabatta. The ham and cheese sandwich on ciabatta, the large quiche with chicken and burdock, and the blue cheese and walnut bread were all delicious. The seasonal focaccia with daikon was a pleasant surprise, and the financiers were also tasty. I heard that there are many bakeries along Chikawa Street, which leads from Ekoda Station to Sakuradai Station. I would love to take a walk there on a sunny day. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Bakery & Cafe located in a quiet and stylish old house renovated with ivy in a shopping street alley between Nishi-Ogikubo and Shin-Sakuradai stations. Arrived around 1 pm on Saturday. There was a line on the left side for cafe seating and on the right side for takeout. Everyone was lining up seriously, so it would be helpful to have illustrations or something to show how to line up. Cafe seating does not require waiting in line, as it is a waitlist board system. There were several groups waiting, and it took about 12 minutes to enter the store. For takeout, it was face-to-face service with only one group at a time, which felt a bit pressured when choosing. There were about 30 types of bread, mainly in the hard category, priced around 350 yen for a half. The items purchased were: - "Cashew nuts and black pepper half (¥367)" 3.5 ★★★ - "Fig and walnut compre half (¥367)" 3.5 ★★★ - "Blue cheese walnut bread (¥345)" 3.0 ★★★ - "Spinach and ricotta cheese quiche (¥648)" 3.0 ★★★ The bread dough was hard but chewy and easy to eat. The "Cashew nuts and black pepper" had a stylish taste with the spiciness and flavor of black pepper. The cashew nuts were soft, maybe because they were warmed up, and didn't leave much of an impression. The "Fig and walnut compre" had whole wheat with red wine-soaked figs. The chewy texture of the figs, combined with the flavor of the dough and walnuts, created a complex taste. It was satisfying on its own, but would also go well with cheese. The "Blue cheese walnut bread" was a slim U-shaped bread with plenty of blue cheese, providing a balanced flavor. It had a subtle sweetness, but I personally prefer a bit more sweetness. The "quiche" had a thin Danish pastry with a strong flavor. It was moist with plenty of spinach in the filling, and the cheese flavor was subtle, making it easy to eat. The popularity of their easy-to-eat hard bread and reasonable prices was understandable. It was a wonderful place, and I would like to try dining in next time.

I always get takeout, but this was my first time eating in. It was a Saturday and there was quite a long line. I ordered while waiting in line, but it took an additional 25 minutes after being seated for my food to arrive. It seemed like other customers who came in later were served before me, which made me worried that my order was forgotten. It would have been nice to have a word of reassurance from the staff. I ordered a pork cutlet sandwich, but the focaccia bread was overcooked and burnt. It tasted bitter. It wasn't mentioned on the menu that it would be roasted, and honestly, it would have been tastier if it wasn't cooked. The staff, except for the lady selling bread, seemed unfriendly and unenthusiastic, and they didn't provide any explanation about the bread they brought. I will stick to takeout from now on. The bread itself is very delicious.

The shop, which blends into a residential area to the point where it's hard to tell where it is even when the map app says you've arrived. It has a somewhat hidden and cozy atmosphere, making it a bit intimidating to enter. I didn't have the courage to use the cafe and opted for takeout instead. The breads were full of flavor, with each bite bringing out more deliciousness. The ingredients such as burdock, potatoes, and blue cheese paired well with the bread, each having a distinct taste. Personally, I love rosemary, so the focaccia was amazing. I had it with the white stroganoff, and they went incredibly well together.

The place is really crowded and bustling, but the bread is truly delicious, too delicious!!! My favorite is the cashew nuts and black pepper bread. There are other varieties that are also highly recommended, especially the bread that goes well with wine. It's delicious with charcuterie or cheese, or even on its own. It would be even better if reservations were possible, especially in the height of summer. However, it seems that you can make takeout reservations over the phone. I also want to try the town's parlor.
