I stayed at a dormitory for the first time! I wanted to try out the dormitory that my Spanish colleague often uses, so I decided to stay there. Thanks to a 500 yen discount using a welfare service, I only paid 945 yen for one night. The dormitory was even cleaner and newer than I had seen online. The common language in the shared space was English. There was a self-service instant coffee station that I used. The showers were also clean, and it was much more comfortable than staying in a capsule hotel. There were two outlets by the bed. I thought it would be fun and nice to stay in a place like this when I come to Kyoto. I usually just play at nightclubs and then go to sleep. And when I checked out, they even gave me some American candy as a gift. What great hospitality.

When I stopped by Kyoto on a solo trip, I stayed at a guesthouse where they didn't serve meals or drinks, but there was a sister bar just a 10-minute walk away where guests could go. When I visited the bar, there were no other customers at first, but soon more foreigners started coming in. I had a great time chatting with people from various countries, playing Jenga, and enjoying the lively atmosphere. It seems that Japanese visitors are actually quite rare there. It's not about the food or drinks, but the experience of interacting with people from around the world. This place became a must-visit spot for my Kyoto trip.
