A new shabu-shabu all-you-can-eat restaurant called Tajimaya has opened on the 7th floor of Don Quijote on Kawaramachi Street. The price varies depending on the type of meat, but vegetables are all-you-can-eat. Drinks are also all-you-can-drink, with Sapporo Black Label beer available on tap. This is a big plus!

The rice was discolored and had a smell. The vegetables and condiments for self-service also seemed to lack freshness. There were only about three groups of customers that day, so it's understandable that some ingredients were not used up, but it was disappointing. I used to visit another branch several times before, but I might not come back again. However, the hot pot itself was delicious, and my companion thoroughly enjoyed the all-you-can-eat Häagen-Dazs, so I'll give it a 3 rating.

I visited around 15:10 on a Sunday. It was empty as I went at a strange time. I had the beef set meal with 150g for 60 minutes for 1080 yen. I chose the seasonal limited salt koji miso broth, which was delicious. I didn't need the kombu simple broth as I don't use ponzu or sesame sauce. There were vegetables like Chinese cabbage, cabbage, leeks, and shredded mix, but there was no garlic chives and daikon that day. They had ramen (dry noodles) which was delicious when eaten slightly firm. They also had udon, tteokbokki, glass noodles, and rice. The ice cream options were soft and easy to scoop. I tried a little of each flavor - strawberry shortcake, blueberry cheesecake, caramel latte, cookie, cassis, and chocolate. After 17:00, they have a dessert time with new texture gelato and Häagen-Dazs.

I often go to Yodobashi store, but this was my first time at this shop. It was spacious and cozy. I had the all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu, and the pot was divided into two sections where you could choose two types of broth. The beef looked dark and I mistook it for pork. The color of the beef was light. The taste was indeed that of beef though. When I visited, highballs and lemon sours were only 100 yen each, so I was lucky to have as many as I wanted.

I visited around 11:30 on a regular day. There was one group of customers and two individuals already there. By the time I left around 12:30, there were about three more people, but it was still not crowded.
- Meat set lunch for 60 minutes at 980 yen
I chose a mix of beef and pork because pork is more nutritious than beef. However, it was a bit difficult to cook the pork as it can easily become dry if overcooked. The portion size was sufficient. They mentioned that they were not serving chicken due to the new coronavirus situation.
- Vegetables
I liked the garlic chives and daikon radish! The fragrant garlic chives and thinly sliced daikon radish that quickly softened were great.
- Noodles
The ramen noodles were chewy and delicious. They easily expand, so be careful.
- Ice cream
There were 12 flavors available, including interesting ones like chocolate banana and sweet potato. I wonder if these 12 flavors were not Häagen-Dazs, as it was mentioned that Häagen-Dazs all-you-can-eat is only available in the evening.

We revisited the restaurant with just the two of us because we wanted to eat a lot of vegetables, and we couldn't think of any other place to go at that time. We were able to relax and enjoy our meal both times, even though we visited at odd hours. We didn't feel like having meat, so we opted for the set lunch again. We chose different broths for each visit. The first time, we had a hot pot without a divider, but this time we had one with a divider. Maybe it was because we chose a higher-ranked hot pot this time, or maybe there was a mistake the first time. We'll ask next time we visit!

Around Kawaramachi Takoyakushi, there used to be a lot of sushi restaurants, but now it's all barbecue places. A new restaurant called Tajimaya opened on the 7th floor of Don Quijote, so I decided to try their lunch menu. We had trouble finding the elevator to Tajimaya (are we the only ones?), so we accidentally took the Don Quijote elevator to the top floor and had to ask a staff member for directions. To go to Tajimaya, you need to take the elevator on the right side (Takoyakushi side) with Kawaramachi Street at your back. We opted for the set lunch instead of the all-you-can-eat option. The set lunch allows you to choose your preferred broth flavor. However, there was only one pot for the hot pot, regardless of the number of people ordering, and the explanation was lacking. I thought there would be two divided sections in the pot, but that was not the case. It would have been better with more clarification. The pork shabu-shabu set lunch (850 yen + tax) included thinly sliced pork loin. You need to get your own vegetables. I prefer pork belly, but the thin slices of pork loin were tender and easy to eat. The all-you-can-eat options included vegetables, tofu, noodles, rice, pickles, furikake, and 12 types of ice cream for 60 minutes. It was a good deal for the price. There were a few female customers enjoying their food, and it was nice to see them eating heartily. I will definitely visit again.

When you head north on Shijo Kawaramachi in Kyoto, you will see the Don Quijote building on your left. The newly opened "Shabu Shabu Tajimaya Don Quijote Kawaramachi store" in October can be reached by taking the elevator to the 7th floor. As someone who has visited multiple branches in Kyoto and tried all the food, I would say that the new store may require some research beforehand as it is not as well-known and the location of the elevator may be a bit tricky to find. However, being located high up in the building, it offers the best view. Unlike other branches with no windows, the Don Quijote Kawaramachi store has seats by the window, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere with a view. During the lunchtime visit on a weekday, there were only a few visitors, including the photographer. The relaxed atmosphere allowed us to enjoy delicious beef shabu-shabu with plenty of vegetables. Another highlight is the variety of ice cream options, as shown in the image, with a choice of 12 flavors, which was very delightful.

I had been to a restaurant in the same chain before, so I went without hesitation. The building itself was new and the interior was clean. Since it was an all-you-can-eat restaurant, there were times when there was more white meat or red meat with each order. That's understandable. What stood out though was that the broth for refills was often weak compared to the initial broth. It's odd considering all the ingredients that have been cooked in it. I definitely noticed that. There was a good variety of ice cream and vegetables, so overall it was enjoyable.

When I went, there was only one staff member and the refill of meat was too slow.
