It is a cozy underground establishment in southern Italy where warm music like ska, reggae, and rocksteady plays. The traditional dishes are all delicious, and the wine selection ranges from affordable to high-end options. I ended up drinking wine too quickly to remember to take photos, but I will definitely visit again.

I'm sorry for not having any photos, but I wanted to share about a delicious night out. I had the opportunity to meet up with two senior colleagues in Kyoto, and they took me to a place called "BAR del Nonno". - Access: It's a hidden gem located in the basement of a building near Shijo Station. The menu consists of snacks that go well with drinks, as well as pasta and pizza, all served by the manager who runs the place alone. We ordered various dishes like Aglio e Olio, sautéed dishes, and focaccia, but I honestly can't remember how they tasted. - Menu: The seniors recommended the Margherita pizza, which was indeed delicious. The pizza had a relatively thick and fluffy crust that wasn't dry at all, and it was soft and chewy. The manager swiftly prepared and served everything, creating a cozy atmosphere in the restaurant. They mainly serve wine, but they also have Peroni beer available. - Ambiance: The manager apparently trained in Naples before returning to open the restaurant, and the interior is decorated with cute Italian goods and soccer memorabilia. The place was constantly full, with customers coming and going, which made me realize that it's a popular spot with a lot of fans. I definitely want to go back there for another meal with my seniors!

I used it for dinner with a friend. It is located downstairs, with a counter and tables. The pizza was delicious, but the mushroom cream pasta was the winner. We finished with tiramisu. I really liked the atmosphere, and the dishes were also cute and impressive. :)

The taste and atmosphere are impeccable. It seems like they have a special oven for pizza, as the quality is quite high and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend ordering wine and pizza, even if you're dining alone. They stay open late, so you may see people from other restaurants coming in. It's truly a place recognized by those in the industry. I had a great night and now I feel like finding a reason to come back to Kyoto.

A few minutes' walk from Shijo Station. I stopped by here today. The restaurant is located underground down the stairs, with a cozy space consisting of counter seats and table seats. The menu mainly features Italian dishes. I thought about getting wine, but it was a hot day so I just went with beer. I also ordered the homemade oil sardines and lamb ragu pasta. Let's dig in! First, the oil sardines arrived. They were soft and flaky with no fishy smell, quite delicious. The lamb ragu pasta had a rich and flavorful sauce that paired well with the beer. This would also go well with red wine. So, bon appétit! They are open until 3 am, so late-night dining is possible. But personally, I'm usually sleepy by midnight so I don't stay out that late, haha.

Hidden underground bar with a cozy atmosphere. A bit hard to find if you don't know about it, but once you go, you'll be hooked. The Pizza Romana and the pasta with tomato sauce (forgot the name, lol) are delicious! The pizza is amazing, especially with anchovies adding a nice touch. The dough is also chewy and tasty! The pasta is simple but really delicious! A laid-back Italian bar where you can enjoy Naples cuisine without any pretense. It's great that they're open late into the night! I'll definitely go back. Thank you for the meal!

Tonight, I went to a Neapolitan cuisine restaurant in the area around Shijo-Karasuma. BAR del Nonno seems to be a place where you can taste home-cooked Italian Neapolitan cuisine. The restaurant was located downstairs after descending the stairs. It has a cozy counter seat where you can relax. There were rows of wine bottles lined up, creating a lovely atmosphere. I started with red wine. The Neapolitan-style assorted appetizers had various types of appetizers. With this many appetizers, it feels like it could be a full meal on its own. Among them, the sautéed white fish was especially delicious. For the second drink, I chose white wine. The generous portion size was delightful! Since I was already there, I decided to order one more dish. The fried sweet shrimp had more shrimp than I had imagined. Each shrimp was quite large, and biting into it allowed me to savor the shrimp miso flavor. Tonight, I was able to enjoy casual Neapolitan cuisine. The owner is a friendly person who enjoys chatting, so I had a pleasant time.

Thank you for visiting. A friend of mine runs a shop called "Bar Del Nonno" located underground, east of Bukkoji Muro-machi. They are open until 3 am, making it perfect for a second or third stop. The interior has high chairs at the counter and table seats. I went with my colleagues and we had a toast. Today, they came all the way from Osaka. The food menu is displayed on a blackboard. We had thick salami and buffalo mozzarella. I thought a salad-like dish would come next, but it turned out to be "The Appetizer." We also had tomato-stewed pork tripe, which had a great texture. We switched to white wine and had spicy tomato sauce pasta with sardines and a Margherita pizza. For the finale, we had a homemade ginger highball, served in a unique round glass. It was delicious and highly recommended. It was like tasting Naples in Shijo-Karasuma.

Hidden underground in Karasuma, there is a quiet Naples-style Italian restaurant. You descend a staircase to the basement floor to enter. The entrance is full of Italian vibes, with photos, lighting, and the overall atmosphere reminiscent of Naples. The food also has a Naples touch, with a variety of appetizers like Naples-style assorted appetizers, seafood fritto, Caprese, Acqua Pazza, and more. The prices for dishes are around 1000 yen for appetizers and pasta dishes, making it affordable. With two people enjoying a full meal and a bottle of wine, the total cost was around 6500 yen. The taste was great, and the cost performance was excellent, leaving us very satisfied. The wine selection was also impressive, with the owner seeming like a sommelier and a collection of wines lined up. Surprisingly, you can enjoy a bottle for as low as 2000 yen, making it feel casual and approachable. The owner was very polite and humble, creating a very comfortable atmosphere in the restaurant. If dining in Karasuma, I would definitely want to visit this place again.

After partying in Fushikoji's region, we came here for another round of drinks. With a group of 12 people, it was difficult to secure seats, so we consulted the owner of the Fushikoji restaurant who recommended this place and had contacted them in advance. The location is near Hankyu Karasuma Station, Subway Shijo Station, on the basement floor of a building facing Bukkoji Street. As soon as we descended the stairs outside, we found the entrance to the lively bar with a good crowd. We proceeded to a semi-private room at the back after passing through the hall. We managed to find seating using table seats and chairs placed against the wall. We ordered Gin Buck. The round glass had a spherical bottom, swaying gently - a very nice touch. The atmosphere was more casual American than Italian, but it was a comfortable space where we could relax and enjoy chatting together away from the noise of the bar. We even had refills! Surprisingly, this place is open until 3 a.m.! (◎_◎;) Last order seems to be at 2 a.m., making it a rare find in early-closing Kyoto. The restaurant is also very accommodating, allowing for a quick espresso or a glass of wine on the way home. It's a place you can casually drop by, which is nice. It seems to be a Neapolitan cuisine restaurant, so next time, I would like to try their pizza and other dishes. Thank you for the meal! (╹◡╹)♡

I wandered from Gojo to Shijo and found a still open restaurant in the dark underground! They said they are open until 2 or 3 in the morning! The food is simple, mainly focusing on Southern Italian cuisine. It was already past 12 so I didn't try the pizza, but I'm looking forward to it next time! They serve wines from all over Italy, from the north to the south, by the glass. They have irregular opening hours, so it might be a good idea to call ahead if you plan to go late at night.

I went to this bar after work. You can't see inside from the street, so I checked the reviews before stopping by. The counter in the back was surprisingly spacious, where we toasted with wine. The appetizer platter was colorful and full of vegetables, which would surely please women. The Gorgonzola penne had a strong flavor that went well with the wine! Finally, the dish of liver and gizzard that we ordered as a snack was delicious, with the liver being tender and not at all gamey. It was a casual atmosphere where you can drop by, have a quick bite, and enjoy some drinks. Thank you for the meal.

It's like an Italian restaurant with a strong bar element, a hidden gem kind of place. It's great that they're open until late at night. The appetizers are light, and you can enjoy beer, wine, or cocktails made with unfamiliar liqueurs. I had Gorgonzola pasta, and it was delicious! I went there alone late at night, but the relaxed atmosphere throughout the restaurant made it easy to enjoy my drinks. They offer a variety of wines by the glass, and I had a great time sipping on them.

It's a restaurant located in the basement of a building if you go west from Bukkoji Temple after heading down Shijo Karasuma. I visited this place after a friend recommended it. The main seating is at the counter, but there are also high chairs and table seats. Be careful as the alcohol can sneak up on you (lol). If you tell them your preferences, they will recommend wines not on the menu. I was surprised by the high quality of the food, especially the pasta which was exquisite. I think the value for the meal is particularly high. The focaccia was also incredibly delicious. I would definitely like to visit again.

I visited the restaurant with a friend. It is located on Bukkoji Street just west of Karasuma Street, underground. It seems to be open until around 3 am, and I heard that it is a place where chefs gather late at night. The interior has a counter with 7-8 seats, a small table at the entrance, and private rooms in the back. Both drinks and dishes are reasonably priced. You can order several types of white and red wine by the glass, all of which were delicious. They also have a good selection of Limoncello and Grappa, although I don't drink. The appetizer platter was generous, and the pasta and fish dishes were tasty and filling, especially considering the prices. It's a great restaurant for a meal or as a second stop for drinks.

When I happened to pass by shortly after the store opened, I decided to stop by and found myself in a wonderful, secluded space. The entire interior of the store exuded the atmosphere of a small Italian restaurant. The wine I had there was very soothing, and the pasta made by the manager was delicious! I was pleasantly surprised by the well-made pasta that was served. The only downside was that the mobile phone reception was poor. You can get a signal near the entrance, but once you go further inside, it's hard to connect. However, this might just add to the charm of the place, allowing you to fully enjoy the pasta and wine without distractions. It's a recommended spot for when you want to relax and unwind.
