Eating out every day to conquer 100 famous restaurants. Today, it's a Chinese restaurant in Ginza, called Kuroneko Yoru. The name might make you want to pronounce it with the Chinese reading, but it's actually pronounced "kuro neko yoru" in Japanese. I arrived at the restaurant on Sunday at 5:30 PM. In Ginza, where similar buildings line up, I found the sign and took the elevator up. When I got off the elevator, I thought I had made a mistake because the entrance looked like the back of the store. There was no sign or anything. After walking a bit, I could confirm that it was a restaurant. The interior is interesting, with stairs going up and down in places that don't seem necessary, and there is a counter where you can eat openly, but most of the space is private rooms where you don't have to see other customers. I was guided to the farthest private room, which had a unique atmosphere. Inside, there were several figurines of the Eight-Handed Kannon, and candlelight. It's an eccentric concept. When I opened the menu, I found many interesting ingredients. Goose, lamb, pork intestines, stinky tofu, etc. However, there are also items like Taiwan's exclusive caviar and Buddha Jumps Over the Wall soup. It feels more like a collection of local dishes from various regions in China and Taiwan, rather than specific regional cuisine. Although they are all made with rare ingredients and unique dishes, the seasoning is more tailored to Japanese taste rather than authentic Chinese flavors. Chinese specific seasonings like doubanjiang and Sichuan peppercorns are not used that much. I'm not an expert in Chinese cuisine, but the menu development here is amazing in how it caters to Japanese taste. I definitely want to come back to this place. And the prices are reasonable too. I found a good restaurant. Jellyfish and Myoga Salad with Perilla Leaves for 980 yen, Five-Ingredient Fried Rice for 950 yen, Octopus, Tomato, and Cucumber with Butter Soy Sauce Flavor for 980 yen, Shanghai Black Vinegar Pork for 1,800 yen, Medicinal Herb Soup for 1,500 yen, Goose and Potato Stir-Fry with Cumin for 980 yen, Clay Pot Rice for 1,300 yen, Fried Sesame Dumplings for 580 yen.
