On a typical night around 8:00 pm, there were about 7 groups waiting in front of the store. I had to line up in a narrow alley, not knowing where to queue at first. There were many foreigners, about the same as Japanese people, and English was being spoken, making it feel like a tourist spot. I finally got to visit the main store that I had been curious about for a while! The interior of the store only had counter seats, and it was very cramped. There were no tissues available, and the dishes were sticky, so hands would likely get dirty. But there were no tissues... (⌒-⌒; ) - Nagi Soba: ¥1300 I decided to go for the most deluxe option! The soup had a strong flavor of dried fish and pork bone (maybe pork back fat?), as well as soy sauce, making it irresistible for those who like rich flavors!! The broth was so flavorful thanks to the richness! It didn't have the typical fishy smell or powdery taste of dried fish, and it wasn't overpowering. The noodles were generally medium-thick curly noodles, but there were one or two thick flat noodles mixed in, which was also great! The noodles with over 45% water content were amazing!! You can add spicy sauce according to your preference. I didn't add any because the overall taste was so delicious that I didn't feel the need for flavor variation. The chashu (sliced pork) was also tender and super tasty!! It's been a while since I've had chashu this delicious. I would wait in line again and I'd like to visit their branch stores too. Today, I went to Shinjuku Station after a long time. I was craving for some delicious dried fish ramen, so I decided to go to Nagi. I used to frequent both the main and branch locations, but it's sad to hear that the branch has closed down. Today, I walked from Shinjuku Sanchome to the main Golden Gai area. The evening atmosphere seems to be returning, with many foreigners also bustling around during the day. Nagi in Golden Gai has its entrance on the first floor, and you have to climb a narrow staircase to enter. There is a waiting area on the right side of the entrance, and they call out for entry from there. I was scolded for going up the stairs without being called. Finally, a seat became available and I entered the shop. Up the stairs on the right side, there is a ticket machine. I ordered the signature Nagi dried fish ramen for 1,000 yen with extra noodles, added spiciness, and a recommendation from the staff. Now, I wait for my bowl. The female part-time staff mentioned that she will be leaving for a full-time job. It seems challenging for them to secure enough staff. Finally, my bowl arrived. Visual: The presentation remains the same. Golden soup with red spices, topped with dried fish and green onions. This is what I've been waiting for. Soup: The temperature is high and the taste is slightly bitter. It's delicious. However, I sense a bit more acidity compared to before. Mixing in the chili pepper enhances the flavor nicely. A perfect balance. Noodles: Medium-thick curly noodles. Hmm, they seem slightly soft. The extra noodles are springy and delicious, especially when they soak up the soup. The thick texture of these noodles complements the dried fish well. This is the real deal. Despite noticing some changes from before, I finished every last bit. It was a satisfying bowl as expected. I heard they are planning to make a move into the sushi industry while further refining their ramen flavors. I wish them the best of luck in their challenge to the sushi industry. Ramen with medium-sized chashu. I had always wanted to visit this place someday. I thought I could go anytime if I got off on the way to work, but I kept putting it off. However, various circumstances led me to make my first visit! I was surprised by how much the taste exceeded my expectations (preferences). I wish I had met this place sooner. Thank you for the meal.

The tissues are placed in an easy-to-reach location, which is convenient. I went around 3 pm for a late lunch since they are open 24 hours, and I was glad it wasn't crowded. The taste was also delicious! There are two types of noodles, one like thick soba noodles and the other regular chewy noodles. You can adjust the ratio of the noodles, so I want to try that next time!

The shop continues to reign as the king of dried fish broth ramen. I went around 1:30 pm on a weekday and there was a wait for 5 people. In the past, I used to line up in the early morning or late at night after a night out, but to think there would be a line during the day... The special ramen is 1600 yen. It's a generous portion with thick noodles, extra chashu, egg, and seaweed included! It's expensive, but definitely worth trying. ◎

I had the special amazing dried fish ramen. The balance between the dried fish soup and thick noodles is delicious. The noodles, in particular, taste very good. I think the dried fish soup could use a bit more punch, so I plan to ask for adjustments next time. It was past lunchtime and the restaurant was full, with a wait of about 3 people, but I only had to wait for about 10 minutes. More than half of the customers were from overseas, and it was impressive to see everyone eating quietly.

The food was delicious, which is great to hear! However, it seems like the taste is a bit salty. It's a shame that you couldn't finish the soup, but the char siu was tasty and the portion size seems just right. Having draft beer would make the experience even better! ■Kombu-soaked dipping noodles with seasoned egg ¥1,650----------------------------------------------------------------------Seeking out a limited menu found on social media, I made my way to the main store for the first time in about 7 years since 2016. The noodles are all flat noodles, and I absolutely love the flat noodles here. Being able to enjoy them to my heart's content in kombu water is pure bliss. The kombu water has a subtle salty flavor, so it's good on its own, but I still wanted to dip it in Nagi's dried fish soup. The dipping broth has a strong umami flavor from the dried fish, though not as strong as the default. The seasoning is slightly sweet. The generous chunks of chashu make for a quite filling meal. Arrived on Monday morning around 11:20 am. Climbed up a strange staircase after opening the door, with no other customers ahead. Purchased ramen for 1,000 yen and seasoned egg for 150 yen at the ticket machine, handed over the tickets, and asked for recommendations on adding spice. Sat at the counter and waited for a while. I've been to Nagi before, but didn't know this was the main store, so it was my first time at this restaurant! The ramen that arrived was amazing! The soup was rich, the noodles were medium thick and just to my liking. The seasoning was strong with dried sardines, but it was delicious. Thank you for the meal! I will definitely come back!

I entered Golden Gai in Shinjuku and the area around the shops had a very deep atmosphere. There was a line in front of the shop entrance, and we had to wait in a narrow alley between very narrow buildings where the warm air from the outdoor units was blowing. The ramen was delicious, but the surroundings of the shop and the atmosphere inside were quite deep and unique! Haha

I went to Nagi Shinjuku Honten in Golden Gai on a Saturday afternoon and luckily was able to enter without having to wait in line. It was actually my first time at the main branch of Nagi, but I have eaten at other branches a few times before. Nagi is known for its dried fish ramen. I felt like the dried fish flavor was even stronger than before. It was still rich and flavorful as always. Sometimes I crave this kind of ramen. The main branch is open 24 hours and located on the second floor of Golden Gai. The stairs are extremely steep. Also, the seating area is very cramped. The chairs are round, but the height is such that your feet don't touch the ground. The distance between the customers and the owner is only about 50 centimeters! It's a unique experience in Golden Gai.

It was a weekday lunchtime, but I suddenly felt like having ramen in Shinjuku, so I looked it up and went. It was before 12 o'clock, but there were already about 5 people lined up outside. I love anchovy ramen, but the anchovy flavor at this shop was too strong for me as a Kansai person. The flat noodles on top, like kishimen, also felt unnecessary. This shop has a long line, so it may just be my own impression, but honestly, I wouldn't go there a second time.

I went there after a long time. I used to love this place so much that I would go there every day. A friend from my hometown came to visit, so I wanted to show off and took them there. But it might just be my own perception, I felt like the taste had declined. And to my disappointment, my favorite "menma" was not available. I don't know if the ingredients have become more expensive, but the noodles used to go so well with it... Hmm, it was the first time I couldn't finish my meal. My friend said it was delicious, but... On a slightly early Saturday afternoon, I was wandering around the Golden Gai area in Shinjuku looking for a place to have lunch when I came across a sign for "Nagi" written in chashu ramen. I was drawn in and entered the restaurant. Inside, it was like a different world. There was a steep staircase with pink lights, and at the top, there was a ticket machine on the wall. The place was quite old and a bit confusing. The interior was very small, with only a counter on the second floor. Feeling a bit uneasy, I first purchased tickets for the amazing chashu ramen and fisherman's rice. I handed over the tickets and went towards the back. The staff at this time were foreigners. Looking around, I noticed that the place was open even in the morning, perhaps for people coming back from drinking. As I looked at the explanations and signs inside the restaurant, I could feel the dedication to chashu ramen. After waiting for about 5-7 minutes, the ramen arrived. I was surprised by the volume and beauty of the dish. On top of the bowl, there were thick curly noodles along with flat noodles, which I initially thought were wontons, but it was actually a combination of two types of noodles. The soup had a strong soy sauce flavor with a powerful taste of chashu. The fisherman's rice, which looked ordinary at first, stood out when the soup was poured over it, highlighting the fish sauce. It was also delicious. I finished the bowl without getting tired of it. Overall, it was a satisfying experience. It was truly a hidden gem of a ramen shop.

It was a regular weekday past 10 pm. There were 8 people waiting in line for about 30 minutes at a shop in Shinjuku Golden Gai. Be mindful of the rules on the first floor while waiting in line. After climbing a narrow staircase, there is a ticket machine. The shop has about 8 seats, it is cramped and hot. The soup didn't have as much fishy smell as expected, and it had a nice umami flavor from the broth and seafood, making it delicious. The seaweed looked like Polnareff, and the noodles were a mix of medium-thick and flat, which were also tasty. Thank you for the meal.

Arrived at 10:57 am. 80% full. Ordered amazing dried fish ramen for 1,000 yen + garlic for 50 yen, totaling 1,050 yen. Asked for all the recommended toppings. Wanted to try the flavored egg but it was 150 yen, so I had to pass due to the price. Seems like a lot of foreigners come here. Everything is written in English. It's hot inside even though they have a fan blowing. Got my ramen in about 5 minutes. Realized after it arrived that they no longer offer free upsizing. Saw on the ticket machine that upsizing costs 100 yen. Tried garlic as a topping for the first time, but there was a lot of grated garlic in it. Made the soup stronger in garlic flavor than I expected, so I felt like I made a little mistake. The ramen itself was delicious as always. However, since I usually get the upsized portion, the regular size felt a bit lacking in quantity. 85% full. I'm sure foreigners would still find this price cheap. It felt like they adjusted everything to cater to foreigners.
