In the middle of a maple alley, there is a sake specialty store. We ordered the "quick to serve" daikon oden for 300 yen, and the "oden with additional ingredients" chicken meatballs and enoki bacon for 300 yen each. We also ordered the half portion of seared duck breast stew for 930 yen. It seems like we have to order one glass of sake per person. They also offer small drinks.

On this day, I met up with a sake friend living in Kyoto at a restaurant near Gokomachi Street and Matsubara. The restaurant was located down a cobblestone path and had a long counter facing the kitchen. Various types of Akishika sake lined the shelves, so we started with those and then left it to the staff to recommend more sake served warm. We had Raku no Yo, Koikuma, Sankoshozou Jigataura Label, and another round of Akishika for the finish. For food, we had a starter, mackerel miso-stuffed peppers, lamb shumai, eggplant with prosciutto, and oden. We chatted and enjoyed ourselves for about 3 and a half hours, and I realized I was quite drunk by the end. As always, it was a delicious and enjoyable time. #Kyoto #GokomachiStreet #Matsubara #Ishifudonocho #NihonshuYashuuroku #sake #warm sake #Akishika #RakunoYo #Koikuma #Sankoshozou #JigatauraLabel

If you want to enjoy sake mainly in hot sake, this place is an absolute recommendation. They also serve cold sake, so no need to worry. With a wide variety of sake, if you can't decide, just ask the owner and they will help you choose one that goes well with the food. And the food is top-notch! Each dish is very satisfying, and you might end up eating too much. Be sure to try the ramen as the final dish. You won't be disappointed.

It seems like a shop that specializes in sake and oden. There is a wide selection of sake lined up, and they request that at least one in the group orders sake. I don't mind drinking any amount of sake, even if I'm alone (laughs). The lady I went with doesn't like sake, so she ordered something else. Shops that focus on sake often have well-thought-out side dishes, and it's nice that there are many small dishes to choose from. It was my first visit, so I didn't do any research in advance and just ordered what caught my eye on the menu, but I didn't really miss the mark. I'm sorry, but I personally didn't like the oden or the crab miso cream cheese (I don't think there's anything wrong with oden though...). Both of us stopped eating with chopsticks. The drink called mirin lemon that the lady ordered didn't seem to suit her. The atmosphere of the shop was nice.

Located on the "Momiji Koji H7" street in Kyoto, this oden restaurant is a must-visit for sake lovers. The main seating is at the counter, with a wide selection of sake lined up in the cellar. It is a rule that at least one person in the group must order sake. The daikon tsukune lettuce dish is recommended, with large oden ingredients and delicious broth. The tsukune has a great texture with cartilage in it. They also offer a variety of other dishes such as octopus yukke and grilled ginnan, which are all delicious. This hidden gem is definitely worth a visit!

Located in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto (Keihan Kiyomizu Gojo), Shuroku is a Japanese sake bar. Highly recommended dishes include the "Simmered Conger Eel" with a generous amount of tender meat and a gentle sweet taste, the "Sashimi of Sea Bass" with a rich umami flavor and a hint of wasabi, and various types of oden such as "Grilled Tofu," "Car Fu," and "Red Konjac." Pair your meal with sake such as "Osaka Akishika Daikarakuchi Junmai Ginjo," "Shimane Urashinigami Gohyakumangoku Version Junmai Daiginjo," and "Shiga Kitajima Namemoto Junmai Ginjo Muroka Nama Genshu." Enjoy the cozy atmosphere and delicious seafood dishes at Shuroku. #Shuroku #KiyomizuGojo #MatsubaraStreet #MiyukichoRoad #seafood #fish #seafoodcuisine #fishcuisine #kaiseki #hidden gem #oden #sashimi #sake #Akishika #JunmaiDaiginjo #JunmaiGinjo #sakebar #izakaya #KyotoGourmet #KyotoFoodTour #Aiueo. The eighth item. Chocolate surprisingly goes well with Japanese sake.
