A stylish Italian restaurant located in Gion, Kyoto. "Gion Asakura" was originally operating in a different location in Gion and recently reopened after moving. The previous location was known for serving delicious maze-soba late at night! The new "Asakura" is a bit hidden but has a cozy, hidden gem vibe. The interior has only counter seats for about 8 people! The restaurant is beautifully renovated from an old traditional house and the atmosphere is very chic! They offer a la carte dishes as well as course menus at a fairly reasonable price for a high-end restaurant, and the food is delicious! This time, we had the chef's special course for 12,000 yen, which included dishes like Ishikakegai and striped jack, rice croquette, escargot, mozzarella cheese with shine muscat, cold-boiled octopus with spicy cod roe, conger eel cutlet, duck with bell pepper and fig, Hokkaido Ezo venison steak, sea urchin cream pasta, and blood orange ice cream. If you think it's a good restaurant, don't forget to save it! ☝️

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a spacious area with a counter, creating a pleasant atmosphere with the lighting and air conditioning. When I looked at the menu to order a la carte, I was torn between the delicious options. They serve just the right amount for two people, so we were able to try a variety of dishes while considering our appetites. The portion sizes, as shown in the photos, made me wonder if the cost performance was a bit low, but the wine (ordered by the glass) paired well with the food and I didn't mind the taste. The owner served us with just the right amount of interaction, without unnecessary chatter. I'm curious about the other meat dishes and pasta, so I plan to revisit someday.
