I was planning to have a hearty lunch like a Hainanese chicken rice, but I was drawn into a new shop that caught my eye while walking (lol). I ended up choosing an orange mousse and pistachio cake. The display in the showcase looked so delicious (lol). So, even though it was not part of my plan, I opted for a set of sweets and coffee. The coffee was dark roast. It was so tasty and comforting (lol).

Recently in Kyoto, cafes that open from breakfast have increased for tourists. City Bakery has several locations. This one is conveniently located just south of Fujii Daimaru, but it's not too crowded. It's a good place to have bread and coffee for brunch. The photo shows the cheaper option of the hot sandwich, Tuna Melt. It has a little tuna and cheese. The bread was delicious and crispy. Some people might think 950 yen is expensive for this. You can choose from various types of bread, but if you order two and a drink, it will exceed 1000 yen. It's understandable that meals at cafes these days are priced like this.

Late lunch today. I went for a hamburger set for 1705 yen (tax included). I always crave burgers when I'm tired, so I went all out and tried City Bakery this time. For my drink, I chose the Blueberry & Ginger Soda, which was a refreshing and delicious choice. The burger looked very American, with the juices dripping as I took a bite. I felt like I should use a knife and fork for a fancier experience next time. The patty was juicy and the bun was fluffy, but I couldn't help but think about the calories. The fries were crispy and addictive. It was a nice change of pace, even though I know I'm consuming a lot of calories every day. I wonder how they make those fries. Experience America in Kyoto!

The bread is famous, but this time I had cake. I tried the Kyoto limited edition NY chestnut cake with blended coffee ice cream. Inside the Mont Blanc cream, there was whipped cream and sweet chestnut, on a meringue base. The size was about 5 centimeters, quite small. It was very sweet, but it was perfect with the coffee. From the counter seat, you can also enjoy the view of a Kyoto-style courtyard.

That city bakery has expanded to Kyoto! The Kawaramachi branch is located down a small alley off Shijo Street. Despite its convenient location, the interior is very quiet. I ordered the classic Carrot Cake, which had orange peel in the frosting, giving it a refreshing taste that wasn't too sweet. It paired perfectly with the café au lait I also ordered.

The price is a bit high, but the portion size is huge! Each item feels substantial. The bread is carefully made and has a great taste. The restaurant is quite popular, with a good number of customers. I visited for breakfast but couldn't finish my meal, so I took the rest home to eat later.

A bakery with a connection to a certain American celebrity drama. The pretzel croissant is delicious, but my favorite is the cornbread!! Unfortunately, they were sold out when I visited because I arrived late. This time, I tried the "Milk Stick Hojicha" (300 yen, limited to Kyoto) and the "Buttermilk Biscuit" (300 yen). The Milk Stick Hojicha is a soft bread with matcha dough and plenty of hojicha cream! It's really generous and makes me happy! This type of bread usually has buttercream, but this one is a fluffy type made with whipped cream. The hojicha flavor is strong and delicious! The crunchy sugar texture is also irresistible! For those who like the crunchy texture of castella, this is a must-try (laughs). The Milk Biscuit is like a scone, but it's different! It's not dry at all, very crispy! The inside is creamy and not too sweet, but just right! I want to have this again! It's subtly sweet and delicious even without any toppings! This place is not too expensive, and they sell many delicious bread that you can't find in other bakeries, so I really like it! I wish they would open more stores. Thank you for the meal.

Located one block west of Kawaramachi Street, along Teramachi Street, is a branch of a bakery. I happened to stumble upon it while walking along Teramachi Street. The lunch menu was displayed outside and looked delicious. I decided to try the "Baker's Pizza Pepperoni Classic" for 420 yen (excluding tax) after confirming with the staff that it was still warm. I started by eating the crust, which was delicious. The pepperoni was plentiful and paired well with the tomato sauce. I also tried the "Matcha Macadamia Cookie" for 180 yen (excluding tax). It seemed to be unique to Kyoto. The size was small, but when eaten with macadamia nuts and white chocolate, it tasted great!

I used to go to City Bakery in Osaka, and after a long time, I visited City Bakery in Kyoto. I had chamomile tea inside the store and took out corn bread, which was more like cornmeal cake. The cornmeal had a nice, slightly chewy texture. The mentaiko garlic bread had a strong garlic butter flavor sandwiched between a firm baguette, and it was delicious. The half-size of the wheat bread was also tasty when toasted, with a good aroma.

The set of thick-sliced toast and coffee (other options available) is 660 yen including tax. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is luxurious, and having a leisurely morning at this price is great. There is also outdoor terrace seating and a second floor. The high ceiling is nice. The seating is well spaced out, and the black sofas have a luxurious feel and are lovely. The toast is very moist and delicious. They also provided plenty of butter. The jam seemed to have a mix of fruit and chunky sweet red bean paste.

Located near exit 10 of Kyoto Kawaramachi Station in Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto, this bakery has a chic and natural exterior with a cozy and serene atmosphere inside. The menu offers a wide variety of drinks with a focus on beverages, complemented by cakes and pastries in the display case. The NY Chestnut Mont Blanc is a standout small Mont Blanc featuring a chestnut cream covering, highlighting the flavor of the chestnut with a subtle sweetness. The Grain Anko Rum Raisin Ricotta Choux is a three-layered pastry with a harmonious blend of flavors, showcasing the ingredients in a balanced and delightful way, with a light and airy texture. The blended coffee has a refreshing and smooth acidity with a well-balanced bitterness and a creamy mouthfeel. The bakery offers Kyoto-exclusive bread and sweets, incorporating elements of Japanese tradition. With options for both takeout and dining in, it is a versatile and welcoming spot for various occasions.

I have previously taken out bread from this shop, which offers both takeout and dine-in options. This time, I visited for lunch. It was past 2:00 PM, but I was able to order from the lunch menu and add a drink for an additional 200 yen. I received my drink first, and was told that when the buzzer rang, I could pick up my food. However, the staff brought my food to my table before the buzzer went off. The fries were thin and crispy, just how I like them, and the hamburger itself had thick and juicy meat. The counter seats had outlets, making it a good space for working on a laptop. Plus, there were many solo diners, so I felt comfortable dining alone.

On Sunday, just after 12 o'clock, I stopped by to buy bread. It was too cold to search for another place, so I decided to have lunch here. For takeout, I got two types of croissants and two types of side dishes. I couldn't take a picture of the showcase because customers kept coming in one after another. The New York-style hearty croissant was delicious. For dining in, you order at the register, receive your coffee, and then wait for your order with a buzzer. The deli plate had two types of toast, which was quite good. The deli plate could be considered an American-style set meal with various side dishes. I enjoyed sitting in the back seats on the first floor, but there also seemed to be seating on the second floor.

During a business trip in Kyoto, I stumbled upon "THE CITY BAKERY Kyoto Kawaramachi" after visiting a nearby gallery. The bakery is located about a 7-minute walk from Kyoto Kawaramachi Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line, along Teramachi Street near Marimekko and Fujii Daimaru. The menu offered a variety of items including hearty deli sandwiches, and I opted for the delicious CB Burger with a drink set. Using a national travel support coupon for payment, I didn't keep track of the exact cost. The thick and juicy patty sandwiched between bakery buns was a bit messy to eat, requiring a knife and fork to enjoy. The quiet atmosphere with gentle background music made it a relaxing place for tired tourists to unwind. Although I realized it's part of a chain with locations in Tokyo and Osaka, I'll remember this visit as a unique experience. I haven't seen the bakery in Shinagawa or Grand Front Osaka, so it's a reminder of how I need to pay more attention. Overall, it was a great time in Kyoto, and I look forward to visiting again for a relaxing tea break.

City Bakery has finally arrived in Kyoto, with three new stores opening up. One of them is the Kawaramachi location. The interior of the store has a relaxed atmosphere with counter seating available, making it very convenient. I've had their carrot cake countless times, and it's always delicious. I order it every time I visit.

The pretzel croissant is famous, but other pastries are also delicious. I received a discount coupon for drinks and went to the store. The interior was clean and the space was well utilized. I bought a delicious-looking muscat raisin bread and chose the half-size option.

Stable City Bakery Curry Pan Croc Mousse Two-tone Curry Pan is limited to Kyoto. It was surprisingly spicy, but delicious! It satisfied my recent craving for curry. The bread is crispy. The croc mousse was well-balanced. The two-tone is like pouring espresso into hot chocolate, so it's quite heavy. Perfect for when you want something indulgent. Didn't have my favorite croissant today, but other bread choices were still great. Will come back. Additional note on another day. The Pumpkin Pie and Ginger Latte here are too sweet. Couldn't finish them. The pie was less sweet, but still unbalanced with the overly sweet drinks. Those who don't usually have sweet drinks should be cautious. The whole grain bread I bought was fluffy, moist, and tasty. Will buy it again! Second additional note. Bacon Maple Bread Pan au Chocolat Bacon Maple is from Osaka, but has a very American taste. Strong maple flavor, very delicious. Pan au Chocolat is based on their famous croissant, so it's very rich. Not a lot of chocolate, but it's filling. The croissant here has a unique flavor, which was also present in the Pan au Chocolat. Delicious.

I went on a business trip to Kyoto and bought some bread for lunch at City Bakery. I bought a crispy bacon baguette and a chestnut pie. The crispy bacon baguette is a hard baguette with crispy bacon inside. It doesn't have much flavor other than the bacon. The chestnut pie is a delicious Danish pastry with a crispy texture and chestnut cream. The Danish pastry had a great texture and aroma. Danish pastries are always delicious.

That "City Bakery" finally landed in Kyoto last year. I finally visited. Hojicha Tiramisu Tart + Cafe Latte (¥1050) I knew that "City Bakery" had delicious bread, but I had never tried their sweets before. The Hojicha Tiramisu Tart is a cake limited to Kyoto. The cream is fluffy and mild, with a hint of hojicha flavor. The sponge layer has a high moisture content, and the coffee bitterness is just right, with a fruity acidity. It was delicious. The Cafe Latte was also well-balanced. The atmosphere and service were perfect. I will definitely come back.

Friday 7:55 THE CITY BAKERY Kyoto Shijo Teramachi. This review is also available on YouTube. Search for "mog and mog" to find it. Arrived a bit before opening. The Keihan Main Line was not running that day, so I walked from Sanjo Keihan, which is a walkable distance. Entered as soon as they opened. Ordered the CB Breakfast for 1,030 yen and added the GFF Blueberry set for 220 yen. I have purchased their French bread before, but this time I decided to dine in. The drink was served promptly. Since there were no other customers, I was allowed to take photos inside (with permission). Order arrived at 8:07. I'm glad I changed the plate's bread to a croissant; it was delicious. The croissant was crispy with many layers, so there were a lot of crumbs when I bit into it, but it was really tasty. Considering the location and brand, the price was reasonable, and I didn't mind at all because it was so delicious. Two more groups arrived later, but the seating was spacious enough that it didn't bother me while eating. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.
