Second stop, Banzoku-san! Located in the rotary of Nippori Station, so it's easy to find and I love having noodles after drinking♡ It looked crowded from the outside... but there was one table available. Lucky! We shared the following menu items: 2 plates of gyoza and 1 noodle dish each. We ordered: - Mapo noodles - Champon noodles - Tantan noodles... I placed my order and the rhythmic sound of noodles being made echoed! I was so intrigued, I wanted to see it at the counter. And then... here are the gyoza! So fast! And the noodles too! When we entered the restaurant, the staff already knew what we wanted to order just by looking at our faces! We were laughing and having a great time. It was really quick. ORANGE RANGE's song started looping in my head. "Telepathy... We always have telepathy, connecting the distance between two people." Oh, sorry, I got off track! - Gyoza: They looked delicious when my friend was eating them. Enjoyed with vinegar and pepper. The dumplings were big, with chewy skin, lots of vegetables, and a light taste with the vinegar and pepper. Yummy! - Tantan noodles: Not too spicy, with a rich and flavorful taste. I was expecting Chinese noodles, but this was different - smooth and chewy. I couldn't finish the soup, but I think I ate all the minced meat. - Mapo noodles: A thick and smooth texture of mapo tofu with a strong presence of minced meat. This was addictive. - Champon noodles: Wait, Champon? The soup color was not what I imagined. This was soy sauce-based. The saltiness was just right. The thick sauce kept it warm. Definitely recommended for cold days! I forgot what I ate and drank at the first stop because the gyoza and noodles here were so good. It's a mysterious feeling, but it must be because it's delicious! Thanks to my friend for recommending this great restaurant!

I heard good things about the tantanmen at this restaurant, so I decided to visit and also ordered some gyoza. The staff were efficient and very polite. However, I was expecting the tantanmen to be spicier, as it was a bit different than what I had in mind. On the other hand, the sesame flavor was quite strong, making it suitable for those who don't like very spicy food. The gyoza was large and filled with plenty of ingredients, and the wrapper was fluffy.

Handmade noodle restaurant! The noodles are incredibly delicious, thick and chewy with a firm texture. I saw the Ma Zai cold noodles on TV and just had to try them. The store supposedly opens at 11:00, but when I arrived right at 11:00, it was already open and 80% of the seats were taken. My companion had the tantanmen, which was simple yet refreshing with a flavorful sesame soup and thick noodles that really stood out. It was delicious. The Ma Zai cold noodles had two types of soup, tantan sauce and sesame sauce, both flavors were appetizing and the dish was very satisfying. The cold noodles are only available until September 24th, so I was lucky to try them just in time. I'll definitely come back more next year. The store was full within 10 minutes of opening, and there was a constant line outside. Oh, and the dumplings had a chewy skin and were incredibly delicious! Thank you for the meal!

This is the one and only tantanmen! Today, amidst the lingering summer heat, I got off at Nippori for a transfer. I had always been curious about this place but it was always crowded, so I had given up. However, there was only one person waiting in front of the shop today, so I thought I might be able to go in. I entered the shop in about 5 minutes! I ordered the tantanmen and it arrived in just 2 minutes, which really surprised me! The color of the tantanmen was different from what I had expected. When I tasted the soup, even though it was tantanmen, it wasn't spicy at all. The soup had a clear animal-based broth with a strong sesame flavor and a slight acidity, making it light and refreshing. The hand-stretched noodles had varying thicknesses, providing a variety of textures like chewy, springy, soft, and firm with each bite. I finished it in no time, so it must have been delicious! Thank you for the meal!

The restaurant was miraculously smooth to get into. Once I entered, there was a line outside... I ordered the recommended tantanmen and gyoza, and they were served in about 7 minutes. First, I tried the soup and then felt the vinegar taste later, which overturned my concept of tantanmen. I enjoyed the slight spiciness and the vinegar taste that came later, as I personally like vinegar-based dishes. The noodles were thick, hand-made, chewy, with a good firmness that mixed well with the soup. It was a delicious taste that made me want to eat more. The gyoza had a hand-made skin and a generous amount of filling... Honestly, two pieces would have been enough considering my stomach capacity, but they were so delicious that I kept eating and finished them quickly. It's a restaurant that I definitely want to taste again!

Every year, I look forward to enjoying the cold noodles at this restaurant, and it's a must-have during this season. The cold noodles are usually only available until early autumn. We arrived on a Sunday at 1 pm and had to wait in line with 8 people ahead of us. The seating area had great sunlight, so sun protection was necessary. The turnover was quick, and we were seated in about 15 minutes. The waitress, with a very energetic demeanor, loudly relayed our order to the kitchen in a low, pleasant voice. I ordered two servings of the "Korean cold noodles" which I had never tried before. It was less spicy than expected and didn't make me cough. Apart from the spiciness of the sauce, it was quite similar to the "Horse Thief Cold Noodles," but I found the flavor to be even better. The "Horse Thief Cold Noodles" were the highlight, with plenty of sesame sauce and a generous amount of ingredients. It was delicious and highly recommended for first-time visitors. The "handmade dumplings" were also excellent, with a large, chewy skin that provided a satisfying bite. Overall, everything was very filling, and the standout was definitely the delicious noodles. I used to live near Asakusa and often went to Ma-Zoku, but after moving, I haven't been there much. However, when a colleague said they wanted to eat cold noodles, I recommended it. The Asakusa branch was under renovation, so we hurried to the Nippori branch. We arrived at 11:50 and there was a line of 7-8 people, but the turnover was quick and we got in within 10-15 minutes. We ordered the cold noodles (Ma-Zoku) for 1,300 yen with a large serving for an extra 150 yen, and also some dumplings. The cold noodles were delicious with a chewy texture, and the portion was generous. It was only 1,500 yen, which was a good deal compared to Asakusa. The noodles here are really good, with varying widths that add to the experience. The cold noodles are available until the end of September as a limited-time offer. Definitely worth a try!

It's been a long time since my last visit, about 5 years. I ordered tantan tsukemen with handmade gyoza. The service was quick. Both the tsukemen and gyoza came out soon after. I was worried it might be too spicy, but it wasn't that spicy. It was just right for me, who can't handle much spice. It was delicious. The gyoza was also tasty. Next time, I'll order the warm tantan men instead of the tsukemen! Thank you for the meal. I'll be back!

I visited the Bandit restaurant after a long time. I used to be really into their spicy sesame noodles and would often eat them, but it had been a while since I last had them. I decided to have the spicy sesame noodles and the Bandit cold noodles, which are also popular. I was so happy to eat them again after such a long time, as I really love the spicy sesame noodles. I was able to enter the restaurant at a good timing. Among the three types of hiyashi chuka available, I chose the recommended "Bazoku". It arrived quickly after ordering. My mother wanted to try the cold noodles at this place, so I went there. I arrived in the early afternoon and luckily got a table right away. (The first time I tried to go, there was a long line and I had to give up.) The specialty here seems to be hand-pulled noodles and hand-made dumplings, so I ordered the spicy sesame noodles, mixed cold noodles, and dumplings. The noodles arrived quickly, but surprisingly, the cold noodles were served even faster despite the process of boiling and cooling them. The dumplings, on the other hand, took longer to arrive. Maybe because they make the skin from scratch? The service was incredibly efficient, and the staff were attentive and friendly, which may be why this place always has a line. Now, let's try the spicy sesame noodles I ordered. Hmm, it's not spicy at all. The sesame flavor is rich and smooth. The noodles are thick and straight, almost like udon. I slurp up the soup, enjoying the slightly soft and chewy texture. The hand-pulled noodles have a unique texture due to their uneven thickness, which is quite interesting. The dumplings look delicious with a nice crispy sear. When I bite into one, the skin is chewy and filled generously with flavorful ingredients. They are so tasty that I want to order another plate. My mother's mixed cold noodles looked vibrant with a variety of ingredients on a large plate. The noodles were the same thick type, firm and chewy from being cooled in cold water. The sauce was sesame-based with a hint of acidity, rich yet refreshing. (According to my mother, the ingredients were not great. The shrimp lacked texture and the squid was tough.) It was a unique flavor, different from typical Chinese or ramen noodles. Overall, it was a delicious meal.

I got off at Nippori for another errand. My wife remembered seeing this place on TV and wanted to try it out. As soon as we entered, a foreign female staff greeted us and seated us right away. I ordered the Tan Tan Men, while my wife chose the Chashu Men. The dishes arrived promptly. The Tan Tan Men wasn't too thick and had a refreshing taste. The noodles were chewy and soaked up the soup well, providing a satisfying texture. As for the Chashu Men, I took a bite of my wife's dish and the chashu was tender and delicious!

Babababa horse thief! [Horse thief] - Gomokure cold Chinese noodles Horse thief is a popular shop in Nippori that opened in 1977 and hand-makes their ramen on site. On this day, it was too hot so I ordered the cold Chinese noodles. They offer four types: cold Chinese noodles, gomokure cold Chinese noodles, horse thief cold Chinese noodles, and Korean cold Chinese noodles. I chose the gomokure cold Chinese noodles. The horse thief cold Chinese noodles have a tantanmen-style broth, but the gomokure cold Chinese noodles have a soy sauce base. The noodles are firm and chewy, absolutely delicious, and I finished them in no time. Located at 2-18-2 Nishinippori, Arakawa-ku, Tokyo, just a 1-minute walk from Nippori Station. We started with beer, negi chashu, and gyoza for a toast! The gyoza was packed full of filling in each wrapper, so it was very satisfying to eat! And of course, it goes without saying that it paired well with beer. The negi chashu had a rich flavor that made it hard to stop eating. After chatting for a while, the main dish, tantanmen, arrived. Marukado uses hand-cut flat noodles that are thick like udon, which is a unique feature. When combined with the strong sesame-flavored wild soup, it becomes a one-of-a-kind tantanmen. JR Nippori Station's east exit rotary. Across from the police box is a famous shop that has been around for a long time. When I was a new employee 30 years ago, my second boss told me, "The noodles here are delicious." It's a shop where craftsmen hand-stretch the noodles thinly, which is quite artistic. On this day, I visited during weekday lunchtime. There was a line of customers inside the shop, so I waited outside for a bit before entering. It was hot, so many people were ordering the Bazoiya (Mazegohan) to cool down, but I ordered the Mazesoba. The thick and chewy noodles with a unique firmness were still delicious. The dipping sauce is a spicy sesame-flavored sauce, and when you dip the noodles and eat them, your mouth is filled with a storm of sesame flavor. I couldn't eat the gyoza this day, but the hand-made gyoza is also delicious.
